They went from a 2.5 million to 3.0 million prize pool so they made it a little more tolerable in terms of payout structure. I think it was a good move to do it now realizing it was undersized instead of just letting it go and having the contest fill 4-5 days early which would upset many people as well.

Thanks, bigez952. That makes sense. I didn’t recall the details of the first one, so I wasn’t sure what was going on. All I know is I’m a tiny little fish and the DK ecosystem isn’t stacked in my favor, so I figured it was something to help the sharks and was trying to find an explanation why they did this.

Why did you cancel the Charles Schwab milli-maker and start a new milli-maker?

bigez952 is right, it was a good choice for the players. There was plenty of time to increase the guarantee by reposting the contest – so that’s what we did!

This past week the nascar xfinity race garnered a $400K purse $100k to first at $10 entry and it filled. The race was on a Monday night. Now on Saturday, you dropped the tourney to $8 and $100K purse. Working in data analytics, how is that a feasible change from a modeling perspective? The timing doesn’t even overlap with MMA or any other sport.

Edit: yes, the truck race is earlier but otherwise no competition for it and on a Saturday afternoon.

May have something to do with return of LPL this weekend. Just speculating though obv.

Will Draftkings consider a new KBO & Nippon baseball rule? Drop the two lowest scores per lineup.

This would increase participation because we could make decent lineups without waking up in the middle of the night to see scratched players. Thanks!

Hello draftkings. Thank you for adding the crowns for the NHL ironman recently. Will you be doing the same for NBA now that they have announced a return?

I was wondering about the same topic but my question was if they were going to include the batch of regular season games before the playoffs. This situation is different than the NHL because they announced that the regular season was officially over while the NBA plans to play a few more regular season games before the playoffs start. DK will presumably offer playoff NBA achievements so their decision likely boils down to whether to include that batch of regular season games in the playoff achievements (maybe call it summer NBA achievements) or to modify the existing NBA achievements to account for what is left of the regular season.

  • clrockny24

oh right I forgot for a second that the teams each have eight regular season games starting July 31, before the playoffs.

A proposal – allow players to complete the NBA iron man challenge with Asian baseball contests. So it would be 8 regular NBA contests and 22 KBO contests, if I have the math right. Unless of course, DK wants to have separate achievement for KBO and NPB.

I’m a pessimist when it comes to sports resuming and finishing out the season in America. NBA might be especially chaotic for DFS purposes. Some teams may start studs for 20 minutes. This sport involves a lot contact with no protective equipment. At any moment it’ll be shut down again, and second wave can’t be ruled out yet.

It’s in the best (immediate) interest for DFS to focus on baseball and soccer. I’ve heard complaints about the late starting time showdowns being too small. Sooner or later some of these concerns should addressed. I imagine a few career DFS pros are now out of the picture, so bigger contests and more participation can only help tide thing over until NFL returns. And who knows if THEY will play as scheduled.

That is not a good idea as I have 0 interest in the KBO so the ironman for other sports should be adjusted down based on what is actually played once that is finalized since I agree there is uncertainty with how many games actually can and will be played for all sports.

Absolutely dont add KBO to NBA ironman that is silly.

They’re either going to end current achievements now and have separate achievements for the restart or they will modify the existing achievements to include the last batch of regular season games. I can’t see them doing something other than one of those two options. They did a good job handling the NHL and PGA achievements so I expect the same for NBA.

I agree. A poster above was suggesting merging NBA ironman with KBO

Now that golf is back will Draftkings still be running the fantasy golf world championship?

Currently, we do not have an update for the Fantasy Golf World Championships but we will be sure to let users know if we have an update. Like most situations these days, the sports landscape is fluid so we are still making decisions internally about these events and how we will proceed. We appreciate your patience here and again, if we have an update anytime soon, we will be sure to let users know.

Will Draftkings consider a new KBO & Nippon baseball rule? Drop the two lowest scores per lineup.

We’ve noted your suggestion and will pass it along to the team for consideration as we review & enhance KBO DFS

We may or may not incorporate ideas proposed by the community, but we always welcome your feedback! Don’t forget, we also monitor all feature and product suggestions emailed to our Customer Support team at support@draftkings.com.

We do not have an update for NBA Achievements at this time, but rest assured, we’ll be sure to let everyone know once the finalized solution is in place.

As opposed to the usual end-of-season craziness? Once teams have their playoff slots locked they tend do this regardless of the format.

NBA teams start studs for only 20 mins in the playoffs?

The playoffs are secondary. All the owners will be interested are recouping some of their losses and protecting their assets. Any huge spike in deaths near the game and the whole thing shuts down again and iron man remains in limbo.

We can’t be “my way or the highway” in a pandemic. DK can either just give us the crowns and or allow us to finish it with other games as a insurance measure. Are are many other options?

No, I’m saying the batch of regular season games before the playoffs won’t be all that different from the usual last week of the regular season. Actually it won’t be as bad as usual, because the full-out tanking teams won’t be attending.

There are only 8 regular games to be played, if memory serves. The remainder of the season is all but an afterthought, and knowing nba, the entire season can be canceled again by halftime of the opening round.

NBA has pulled all sorts of stunts even before covid. The bucks basically benched their entire frontline for one game without notice. I don’t think nba can be counted on for dfs purposes when it comes back.

What does that have to do with what I said?

Do check out dk rep’s response to my proposal. Everyone at dk is anticipating the possibility of a second nba shutdown. There’s no need for “creative” solution to complete iron man if they thought otherwise. And they need incentive to grow existing contests as their bread and butter sports are stuck in limbo.

We’re in a pandemic. It’s not 2017. I guess the concept is still lost on people.

  • realphipps

I think everyone clearly understands the NBA’s plan is tentative. It can change at any moment.

The idea of replacing a small balance of quota, in this case NBA regular season games, with something as niche as Korean baseball, a league that is completely irrelevant to an overwhelming majority of American NBA consumers, just reads like a bad idea.

Any attempts at a substitution will be met with skepticism and a flood of complaints. If that substitution ended up being a complete unknown, like KBO, which asked East Coast consumers to be awake at 4am-ish would probably lead to revolt.

    Just my opinion.
