I think everyone clearly understands the NBA’s plan is tentative. It can change at any moment.

The idea of replacing a small balance of quota, in this case NBA regular season games, with something as niche as Korean baseball, a league that is completely irrelevant to an overwhelming majority of American NBA consumers, just reads like a bad idea.

Any attempts at a substitution will be met with skepticism and a flood of complaints. If that substitution ended up being a complete unknown, like KBO, which asked East Coast consumers to be awake at 4am-ish would probably lead to revolt.

    Just my opinion.

That is the truth actually. Merging it with KBO is stupid. DK will wait till NBA is finalized and likely make the right decision like they did with NHL

I 100% agree with this opinion as I would be super pissed if Ironman achievements were substituted with sports I have absolutely no interest in playing instead of just being adjusted to reflect the reality of what is going on in the sport.

DK will do the right thing once the season is officially over as they did with the NHL and recently adjusted the PGA ironman number to reflected the new schedule.

That being said it isn’t a bad idea to have a separate multi sport ironman with all of the niche sports included that they are trying to grow. It is a good idea as long as everyone understands that is what it is before it starts and no one is forced into playing something they don’t want to after they are 90% into a 1 sport ironman achievement.

DraftKings can you please add the cheap NASCAR contests to the lobby when you put up the $20 like you do for the other sports

  • crazyalice

If i started a few days later than 6-13-20 can i still qualify for the Soccer Ironman achievements? It says i have to complete 40 days of playing. Just wondering if i started a few days late will i still be able to get to the 40 days?

Is there any way to facilitate an individual ‘hosting’ a freeroll ?

I am still stumped by the tourney sizing in some specific sports/markets.

I made note of the Trucks/Xfinity races being 300k/400k 100k to first and filling well before the races. These were at the beginning of June. The next races were 100k purses at $8 entry. The same with Cup races filling the 1M tourneys and being rewarded with the dropped 777K purse. Alas, the Xfinity gpps are creeping up with Talledega but the drastic changes are utterly confusing.

What about LoL? 150k purse $15 entry (going to fill 3 hrs before lock) for the beginning of LCK today and bigger slates going forward with a 4 match LPL/LCK sets and a $444 entry $150k purse (this filled 6 hrs before lock). The reward? Cut the purses in half for Thursday. That is such a head scratcher. What incentive does it give to keep playing every day with radically changing purses even when ones fill well before lock? Is there serious anticipation golf lock on Thursday AM hits LoL?

I could see the radical changes if there is overlay and such but there isn’t and hasn’t been. Can you please cast some light on to how you size the tournaments? I’m trying to plan on statistical continuity across tournaments I want to play on a consistent basis but it has been unpredictable day to day.

So i create alot of contests-they dont always fill up and when they dont they cancel. I remember entering another players contest and it said on their description that if not enough players the contest could be re-sized.
I don’t remember ever seeing that option whenever i create a contest.
Also why doesn’t dk ever offer the free dk sponsored contests for cash prizes for Nascar? thanks

Last summer we rolled out the option to enter contests with crowns, and it was a huge hit. At the time there was a known yet unintended side effect of withdrawing from contest entries entered with crowns, we refunded back to DK Dollars. We fixed that loophole not too long ago, withdrawal refunds should only occur in the currency used to enter the contest.

This change makes little sense. It’s not as if DK$ are able to be withdrawn as cash. Absolutely ludicrous that resources were spent on something like this with all of the other things that could be done instead.

Multi Entering through bulk enter is not possible with Crowns. So, before this change one could simply enter something single entry with Crowns, then withdraw and use the DK$ to enter what they want to.

Now it’s become a more inefficient process both for customers and for customer service due to we now need to ask them to make the conversion.

Typically this isn’t an issue, but it does get a little frustrating that most Live Chat reps will just happily and amicably make the conversion and be on their way, while others act like they are doing some kind of favor. Quite aware of all the kickbacks and gifts higher rollers get. Which is great! They deserve it. Yet I ask to simply convert 2 bux worth of Crowns into DK$ to top off my balance to enter a $4 contest and get treated like I am begging for a handout and it’s an issue. Just a bad look. Just STFU, make the conversion and go to next customer.

Complete waste of time for both sides of the interaction. IMO at least.

Well said. I guess I always give the benefit of the doubt – maybe they want more people to enter with crowns – but aren’t crowns and dk$ the same thing? If that’s the case, I’d rather have the money. I realize I just said it could be the same, so it shouldn’t really make a difference if you are entering with crowns vs cash/dk$, I just think it’s much more appealing to open your account and see a bunch of money rather than a bunch of crowns.

Is there any way to facilitate an individual ‘hosting’ a freeroll ?
e.g I want to put up a freeroll tourney with $100 prize fund and invite certain DK users to participate

click CREATE A CONTEST and then follow the steps to define the contest settings. Set the type to Multiplayer, then change the entry fee to $0.00 so the prize structure is free. Any prizes you wish to offer are between you and the participants now that the entry fee is $0, DraftKings is not involved in managing the prize pool when this occurs.

Create a Contest is found under the Home > Create and Play heading on mobile devices, or in the Lobby on our website.

Can you please cast some light on to how you size the tournaments?

We cannot share the entirety of our “secret sauce” but there are many factors that determine how our tournaments are sized, including:

    • Supply & demand: How many users do we normally see play this slate? Have these headliners been filling?
    • Shared liquidity: Are there other sports being played? How many? If forced to choose, would the players choose sport A or sport B?
    • Promotions: Some tournaments are offered as part of a promotion
    • Testing: We’re always testing innovative contest and game variants. As we analyze the results of experimental contests, price pool sizing is increased/decreased accordingly.

So i create alot of contests-they dont always fill up and when they dont they cancel. I remember entering another players contest and it said on their description that if not enough players the contest could be re-sized.
I don’t remember ever seeing that option whenever i create a contest

The Create a Contest resizing rules are available at https://www.draftkings.com/contest-resizing-rules

    • Only private contests can be resized
    • The option for a contest to be auto-resized will be available in the Create a Contest flow
    • If a contest is cancelled, the contest creator will receive an email explaining why
    • Recurring contests’ settings will be based off the original contest’s settings when it was created

Also why doesn’t dk ever offer the free dk sponsored contests for cash prizes for Nascar? thanks

Sponsorships are business deals between the sponsor business partner and DraftKings. We will be sure to share with the team that puts these deals together that you hope to see NASCAR sponsored contests.

This change makes little sense. It’s not as if DK$ are able to be withdrawn as cash. Absolutely ludicrous that resources were spent on something like this with all of the other things that could be done instead.

This change was necessary for compliance with accounting policies.

Multi Entering through bulk enter is not possible with Crowns.

We do not offer this as an option at this point, however it is something that our team is monitoring for future consideration. We have big plans in store for DraftKings loyalty, more to come!

Is it really a bad idea, when people play Asian baseball anyways, despite the time difference?

Ironman is an incentive. And right now DK has an incentive to grow their current contests. I don’t know what their current financial situation is, but I imagine revenue is down as the amount of their usual action have shrunk. If NBA, NFL, and MLB can’t start or shuts down early they lose the bread and butter of their operation.

If there was too much overlay in Nascar contests and DK said “play these contests to finish NBA ironman” I wouldn’t be especially upset by it. I have near zero interest in Nascar and esports, but I might play coin games to low stake dollar games to finish NBA achievements. It’s what we can do to help DFS stay afloat. If players don’t want to do something like this, they can give up on the crowns or…… move all their actions to FD. That’s it. That’s the state of DFS at the moment.

I’m sure DK won’t settle for strict substitutions, but if NBA shuts down early their only option is to just give us crowns or let us play other contests to meet the quota. A little proactive thinking doesn’t hurt.

It’s an objectively bad idea. No one should be forced to use their money (and likely lose it) to play a niche sport that they don’t understand to complete what was widely understood to be an NBA achievement.

DK should just give out the crowns. End of story.

Yes it is a really bad idea as so many more people play the NBA than the KBO and people get pissed off when you spend months chasing an NBA only ironman only to be told well now your going to have to play some other terrible sport you have 0 interest in. I personally would feel cheated by having the terms change so drastically like that and I am sure I am not alone so I don’t think it would really gain them a whole lot by trying that out especially when the KBO won’t be a long term sport. I am sure it will die off once the MLB is back.

Draft Kings can you explain why you don’t put up most of the NASCAR contests up at the same time and let them fill? Are people such degenerates that they enter the high $ contests instead of the $5 they were looking for?

If I use a ticket does that count towards achievements. For instance if I use the 10$ ticket I got from the milli PGA promo last week into LOL would it count towards the 5$ a day ironman?

I’m almost certain that the answer to both of these questions is yes. I think I have done it via both methods in the past. Definitely with crowns and I’m virtually certain I’ve done it with a ticket too.

I get DK wanting the starting grid before posting Nascar salaries, but we’re 48-49 hours from green flag. Post the salaries already.

We get NFL salaries days before initial team injury reports and many days before active/inactive. Golf salaries are posted before those guys even lay out their favorite socks for the trip.

But with Nascar, we just wait. And wait. And wait. I finished my initial legwork for FD Nascar this morning and have uploaded 24 lines for Saturday. Because DK is severely limiting my prep time, it is iffy if I’ll even play DK on Saturday now.

Yes. If we understand the situation you described correctly, both crowns & the $10 ticket will count towards the Fantasy LOL Ironman Achievement.

We are following the precedent of the past several weeks, as we do not want to confuse our players by failing to set expectations. Every Cup race since we’ve come back has had salaries set after the qualifying draw, but worry not, that draw is taking place tonight!

Trying to set your player pool and lineups in under 40 hours, with a career and kids, is much more confusing to me than noticing starting positions on the app/website. I get Chris Bell may be priced at 7000 and then start 40th, making him a premium play, much like an underpriced injury replacement in NBA and NFL. Part of the process should be identifying that very premium play, like Jaylen Samuels Week 9 of the 2019 NFL season.

DK has been great during these trying times. I personally appreciate all the freerolls and adapting to different markets. I’m grateful for the distraction.

But knowing I’m working 10+ hours tomorrow, plus Friday night family night with the kids…

By design, Draftings is giving players like myself basically Saturday morning to do all my Nascar work. And if I wake up late, a few hours at the most.

Just my own personal opinion, but having a few days to prep and adjust is the only leverage I have against the pros. That equalizer is gone in situations like Saturday’s 330pm green flag when I’m eating dinner on Thursday evening and still completely in the dark on the market for that event.

Not all NBA players are eligible to finish the Ironman.

Don’t you think those NBA players should be headed to other sports? That’s the only way DFS can survive in the short term. All the esports and soccer games are basically low stakes. No contests outside of

If you don’t want to play any other sports to finish Ironman, you have the option of giving up on it and save your money for the NBA contests. Achievements are incentives set by the DK so you can enter certain contests, you either agree to their terms or you don’t. DK probably has the right to change terms.

They obviously can’t do anything too crazy, but (at minimum) it’s probably not a bad idea to let a combination of different sports to finish NBA achievements.
