Looks like they’ve adjusted the NBA Ironman down to 145 days. Same goes for the two sport athlete achievement.

It looks like they reduced iron man from 164 to 145 per the NBA achievements page.

It is crazy and it is a bad idea. No one has agreed with you, just stop. They will lose more customers if you have to give up 8 months of work because you didnt want to play EPL or KBO.

Sigh, it’s not a “crazy” idea in a pandemic where businesses are on the brink. Achievements are incentives to play more contests, no one was ever obligated to finish it. DK likely has the right to tweak with the terms for their own benefit, without alienating the fans too much. And right now it’s in DK’s interest for contests on non traditional sports to grow? Why do you think the DK rep responded positively to my idea?

People ALREADY PLAY KBO, soccer, esoprts, Nascar etc. If DK allowed users to play these contests to finish NBA Iron man back in May, most of us would have obliged and we’d be 99% close to getting new crowns. KBO (and now NPB) was a niche upcoming sport so it might have benefited from incentives. I have no idea why this frightens people into complete paralysis. I put in some research for esports (something I almost never played) and played their contests and eventually moved onto Asian baseball. I get that time difference is a factor, but prizes and contest increased, players would make the adjustments.

Everyone here is in “agreement” that optimization mangles competition and payout structure is bad, but DK won’t do much about it, because their business model depends on sharks and users chasing big money. The noise made in this community is hardly gospel, or even representative of the community as a whole. The notion that users would massively quit DK because they would be unwilling to play a coin KBO contest for about 40 days seems a bit implausible to me.

Whatever, we can agree to disagree. It looks like DK came up with a good solution. NBA contests will fill, the pros will dominate, and everyone here will whine and complain about the same things they whined and complained about before. I expect lines like “I’ll rather play esports than this crap”. B ut they won’t leave their comfort zones and nothing will change.

The odd thing is that we’ve now passed the milestone but can’t claim the achievement.

DK can you explain why you put up the $1 Golf contests up but wait until the last minute to do the same for Nascar?

    Skatefiend,

You seem way out of touch with both the topic and the market. The idea of transferring unplayed NBA quota to Korean baseball does not frighten anybody. It is just a remarkably inept idea. That seems to be the gist of the feedback you’re getting here; replies of bewilderment, not fright.

As a 4+ year vet of the NBA forum, it is true that a lot of players grow frustrated with the product, particularly after the All Star break, and many look forward to MLB action and more concrete certainties with daily lineups. Only my opinion, but I doubt those posters will share the same enthusiasm with Korean baseball or make believe sports.

The root of your own argument seems to be the obvious answer to your very own question. These niche sports are simply irrelevant to an overwhelming majority of North American DFS’ers. That is why there are limited contest options with limited prize pools on the market.

Trying to force your customers to care about something that they clearly don’t give a damn about is bad business. Holding a market they do care about (NBA) over their head, like a carrot, isn’t a good approach under any circumstances, but certainly a worldwide pandemic, coupled with a worldwide economic recession, may be the worst proposal of timing I’ve ever heard.

DK is doing fine. Have you seen their stock price since initial offering? Korean baseball and playing soccer with cars isn’t their lifeline. They don’t need to force us into that to survive.

DK is doing fine. Have you seen their stock price since initial offering? Korean baseball and playing soccer with cars isn’t their lifeline. They don’t need to force us into that to survive.

This will be my last word on this topic.

We’re in a pandemic. This isn’t 2017. DK and FD have no choice but to offer niche sports to do business. Fantasy draft isn’t even active. Yahoo only offers golf contest. I don’t know DKs their stock prices are, but I doubt that they’re profitable as they were earlier this year since sharks are entering every contests with thousands of lineups.

If back in May DK said “play esports or KBO to finish NBA Iron Man” 99% of the player base would have done it, even if they didn’t really care about KBO or esports. It’s really that simple. They would have played a coin contest for 30 days or so and just be done with it. If DK tweaked rake even more on the upcoming NBA contests people will still play them. Again, the notion that players would massively quit DK because they couldn’t be bothered to play dime contests on niche sports for 3 weeks seem strange to me. If they quit, then their only other option is FD or golf at Yahoo. Good luck trying to win anything on NBA at FD.

Achievements are DFS incentives for players to enter contests. The very point of incentives in any business (rebates, coupons, subsidies, etc) is to encourage the consumers to do or purchase something they normally might not be interested in. I might not WANT to play NBA almost nonstop, but if I want to get 25k crowns, then I have to meet the objective. If I don’t, then I don’t get the crowns but save real money. I had one big win in NBA in February and would have just quit NBA at DK (dominated by the optimizer crowd) at that point if not for Ironman. DK already has “two sports” achievements. You’d have better shot at the “Mr. Big Buckets” and “double double darling” achievement if you played multiple entries. You get the idea.

In a way I wouldn’t mind KBO and NPB to stay where it is. Lineup construction become intuitive after a while and competition is soft. I’ve been nothing but profitable so far and I see the same people have success on most nights. But I’m also interested in the long term health of the industry and playing DFS is definitely a way to earn some money in a pandemic. I proposed an incentive and it was received positively by the DK rep. Someone suggested having separate achievements for niche sports, which is an even better idea. None of it is objectionable in my mind.

To sum – it’s in the interest of DK for non traditional sports to grow. That was true even before the pandemic, and now it’s even more so. To say “no one in NA cares about them so just be static” seems shortsighted to me. At the top of my head NBA and NHL (and possibly even Asian baseball) won’t be playing in November.

When do the salaries for the NBA MILLY MAKER come out?

  • JH822547

Don’t waste time with questions like that, it’s just impatience.

Not sure if anyone has asked this in the 102 pages of this thread, but here’s my question:

Is there a max entry feature on the desktop/laptop version of Draftkings?

On my phone, i can use the Draftkings app and there is a max entry button that saves time when entering a 20 entry train instead of clicking 20 times.

Will this be coming to the regular Draftkings website on a computer?

We don’t even know what the player pool will look like at this point so just let that be determined in its own good time. It’s the first NBA tourney in a long time so I’d prefer the salaries to be as competitively priced as possible.

EDIT: This was supposed to be a reply to the guy who asked when the pricing would come out.

whats with the “NBA TBT” contest running this Saturday?

  • Baseballshark2019

Hello just to let you know i spent over 1500 in draft.com various season long fantasy contest. These are awesome contest and no one has filled the void. I am not reallocating this budget to any other dfs or booking. This money is gone from the dfs industry until someone replaces the product they had. Why would dk nor offer this it was obvious there was really high demand. Drafts only issue as a product was transperancy which dk is great at.
