Is draftkings considering NBA tournaments without late editing? It’s impossible to play NBA from europe because i would stay awake the whole night until 5am to switch players…

I really hope they bring back the all day slates for baseball this year.

We recognize that some in the community enjoy taking in a full slate of games throughout the entire day, and you have our commitment to keeping our eyes peeled for opportunities to run All Day slates – but we want to set realistic expectations that all day slates will not be the only option we provide.

We’ve seen a significant increase in demand both in customer feedback and also in how entry fees are allocated for shorter slates throughout the past few years that do not require a long time commitment after lineups are submitted.

Offering showdowns and smaller game sets throughout the day allows us to offer contests that include as many MLB games as possible while ensuring that the contests are appetizing enough to continue growing the game. This does not mean we are ignoring all-day MLB slates, but it does mean we will continue to find the right balance as dictated by our customers. We know that the RotoGrinders preference tends to be full day slates, however our job is to balance the needs of all players – not just RG members. We think we are doing a pretty good job of that so far, metrics are up across the board!

you would think they would have a customer advisory committee or something.

You are correct! We have an active committee of players representing voices from around the DFS and Sportsbook communities that share their opinions about how we can improve our products for all. We also have many teams within DK, including our Marketing, Support, and Player Engagement teams, dedicated to keeping our finger on the community’s pulse while performing customer and product research.

Each opinion is important to us, but we also need to make sure that the entire collection of voices guides our decisions rather than any single person. Our goal remains to grow all of our products across all verticals, which benefits everyone – even if you only participate on one product or another.

I enjoy Boston Creme donuts, when get off the subway (at Kendall Square, if you happen to be in the Cambridge, MA location imagine that I’m waving hello from down the street) each morning I pass two different bakeries

Thank you for taking the time to put your thoughts into words and sharing this clever analogy!

We respect the sentiment, but we also want to point out that DFS is a slightly different scenario because having bigger contests that all players participate in benefits everyone in the contest – including you!

In contrast, you are unlikely to gain any advantage by sharing your donut with thousands of people, no matter how big the donut is.

By offering contests that will appeal to as broad of a player base as possible, we can continually provide bigger, better, and more comprehensive contest selection as time goes on.

PS: I used to take the red line in from Porter. Picture me waving hello back as I go by – with a bag of Dunks Boston Cremes in my hand!

Why does the Ironman for MLB include the playoffs this year?

Each sport’s calendar has unique characteristics, and we want our achievement programs to reflect these differences and remain aligned with the underlying sports. Leagues like the NFL and MLB have shorter postseasons than leagues like the NBA and NHL, which have longer postseasons that allow us to offer greater achievement rewards.

Achievements are designed to bring an extra level of enjoyment to the contests that you already love sweating out. We are committed to monitoring our achievement programs to ensure they continue to meet that goal, so please do not hesitate to share your feedback here or by emailing support@draftkings.com at any time!

    I was thinking MLB.

Request submitted! Feel free to email our Customer Support team at support@draftkings.com with contest requests at any time, too. All requests we receive are tracked and reviewed by our teams, even if we cannot post the contest at that time.

Why did DK move the start time of a PPD contest in MLB.

I feel like this is really not a good look, you can’t just change the rules for the contests on the fly. It is all about consistency.

Our contest rules are designed to account for all possibilities so that each contest provides a fair and consistent playing experience for all entrants. We will never deviate from our well-defined Rules & Scoring.

For MLB contests, in most cases, players lock at the scheduled start time of the game and may not be added or removed once the game start time has passed. When possible, if a game is officially postponed far enough ahead of the scheduled start time, we are able to push the lock time of that game back so that players can make adjustments. We’re unable to do so if a game is postponed after the original start time.

For MMA contests, which do not have late swap, lineups may be edited at any time leading up to an event. Each individual fighter will become “locked” at the scheduled start time of the event. A locked fight cannot be added or removed from a roster spot.

PS: We know that there are a lot of requests for lateswap in MMA, however it is not possible to offer this while maintaining the integrity of the game. All MLB games have listed start times, but MMA, Tennis and E-Sports do not – they list for the first match only. We continue to keep our eyes out for ways to evolve here.

You may be interested in playing our NBA Snake draft contests! In snake draft contests, participants will draft a lineup via a live snake draft. After the draft, trades or other roster management activity will not be allowed.

Snake drafts will begin once the required number of entrants enter the contest (snake draft contests must fill completely), so you can join a draft whenever is convenient for your schedule! There will be a one minute countdown period between the time the contest fills and the time the countdown begins for the first pick of the draft. The draft order is determined at random once the contest fills. You can withdraw from a snake draft at any time before the contest fills.

Yesterday I was on 24800+ crowns, completed a 400 crowns mission and claimed it. Yet I’m in the platinum tier for this month. I’m also pretty sure this happened once before, just didn’t keep a close track of the crowns that month.

Speaking of consistency/predictability in contest offerings…I asked this last year too but I wonder if you might be able to offer up anything in regards to plans surrounding MLS contests?

Today we’ve got a nice eight match schedule that’s evenly split with four afternoon and four night matches (I know better than to ask about a full schedule slate :) ), but we’ve only got the option to play a four match evening slate – the afternoon matches are left out. Even for showdowns, two of the matches (RSL/SKC and MTL/CLB) aren’t playable at all today. Do you think this will be the norm throughout the season or is there room for expansion?

While I play most everything, MLS is the sport I most want to play in terms of DFS and is one I would put a bit of time and energy into if I knew what to expect in terms of playable slates/matches. My fear with jumping into MLS is that I’m going to spend an hour on Wednesday night researching one of the weekend matches only to find out it’s just not offered. Not knowing which matches will be offered until the morning of, or night before, makes it unlikely that I’m going to play – even though it’d be by far my number one sport of interest – and three weeks into the season I’m stumped as to what the offerings are going to be until I wake up on Saturday morning.

I know the MLS community is small, but we do exist and Draftkings remains the only platform where we can play.

Hi everyone – Need some help for my retired dad who fell in love with Draftkings over the last 2 years and now is suddenly and incorrectly blocked from one of his favorite hobbies!

The facts as I know them:

    - We live in Maryland – near both PA and WV, both of which are fine for DFS. – Yesterday, out of nowhere, he got the following error message when trying to enter a contest
“FAILED TO JOIN. You may see this error if you are running any software that is disguising your location or are in a region that does not permit contest entry at this price point.” – I did some reading (though it was all related to sportsbook and THIS is for DFS) and it suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the APP. I did that and it worked for him last night. He tried to enter today, however, and the error was back. – One thing that seemed to be VPN related – My dad does a little accounting work as a retirement gig and some of his software DOES use VPN services he said. However, he had no issues last year or ever before and has been working on taxes for folks for the last 3 months with no problems in 2021. – Both his computer AND app won’t work – the APP won’t work with WiFi or disconnected – Location services on his phone are on.

I see tons of “it might be this” or “maybe try this” online, nothing has worked… DK support has been tolerating his many emails but no one has offered one solution.

Dad’s a small time player. Has $125 in his account and 14,000 crowns he’s worked for 2 years to earn.

Hoping to find a solution for him. Can anyone help out? Even a direct line to someone he can talk to rather than the random customer service emails would be helpful.

    Thanks, friends!

Well i would like to play Snake draft contests if people from europe (Germany) were allowed to play those and were not banned lol.

Fantasy sports regulations vary by jurisdiction. Snakes are currently unavailable in Ireland, Austria, Malta, Germany, New Zealand, and Ohio (United States). We will be sure to keep the community informed if snakes become available in any new locations.

I wonder if you might be able to offer up anything in regards to plans surrounding MLS contests?

MLS is a unique scenario because matches are usually spread out and often have to compete with intense demand from other leagues within the same sport. As the season continues, we aim to get into a more predictable rhythm to make the experience for our MLS fans as enjoyable as possible. Thanks for sticking with us – you have our commitment to get it right!

Is there any estimate on when NFL Best Ball drafts will become available for the upcoming season?

We don’t have an ETA to provide quite yet. Stay tuned!

@DraftKings_CM Is there an ethical reason why DFS users cannot allocate their salary to either or both Shohei Ohtani as a pitcher and/or hitter? Or has it proven to be too difficult to write the code on your platform (and other platforms too)?

    /edit

to clarify….in games where he is the starting pitcher and usually getting 4-5 AB’s batting 2nd.

Any plans to make him available as a hitter and pitcher?

As a small time player, I see two issues with dk contests.

    (1) the min cash is usually not 2X the entry fee outside of coin contests.

    (2) most lower stake contests with less contestants aren’t worth entering because the top prize or odds aren’t worth the entry fee (hundo, micro booster). Dollar single entry isn’t bad but on most slates min cash is only 1.5X.

Both yahoo and fd has middle ground contests where top prize for either quarter or one dollar contest is 25-30 bucks. And the field is 275 – 2000 range depending on the contest. These aren’t easy, but they tend to reward good decisions or semi optimal stacks more.

I’m glad dk is considering contests like fd’s small bunt contest. I was profitable at dk last year but all lot of that was luck. There’s no guarantee I can repeat that success and I already struck out on NBA. IMO FD has a slight edge over dk in terms of casual friendly contests. DK has an industry best reward system and contest options I think they just need to roll out a few manageable contests where the odds and payout structure isn’t way up there.

Yahoo occasionally puts out “top 33% wins” gpp contests. Is that something dk can offer regularly?

You already know the answer. Their algorithm says you aren’t really interested in those type of contests and payout structures.

I got an s21 last month and have consistently had my location not showing up when I try to use both dk and dk sports book apps. Any plans to make him available as a hitter and pitcher?

DraftKings MLB Rules & Scoring have already been defined for this season, as a result we have no plans to make changes to pitcher/hitter scoring eligibility at this time. With that said, our operations teams are not ignoring this subject, we intend to continue monitoring the Ohtani scenario all season.

As a small time player, I see two issues with dk contests.

DK is Ultron and everyone else is Jarvis.

We know that players such as yourselves prefer payout curves that focus on prioritizing the min cash prizes rather than the big prizes up top, but we develop our contest ecosystem for the balanced needs of all. We found that the vast majority of players prefer to shoot for the moon and sweat out a big takedown, this includes some RotoGrinders members who have expressed their positions previously in this thread. Why can’t we have both? We intentionally offer a wide array of contests to address all preferences, balanced using our understanding of customer expectations – we want everyone to feel welcome scrolling through the lobby!

You probably already know that DK is in a constant cycle of evaluating and reevaluating community sentiment and entry data. This information is dynamic and ever changing, this data defines how we implement payout structures. So far, our models have been fairly spot on – as evidenced by the exponential year-over-year DFS growth. Our goal is to grow the game (and it’s working!).

The guidance of our forecast models propelled DraftKings to become the industry leader. Trust the process – it’s working! Everyone who is an active player benefits via juicy contests vs diverse fields as a result.

PS: There is no Ultron. We all have our own Jarvis – albeit ours is rather accurate for a predictive model. Worthy indeed!

I wasn’t sure where to ask this, but here looked like the best place.

Our trusted and well-trained Customer Support team members at support@draftkings.com are best equipped to help with this. Send them a message and include all relevant details, including a screenshot of the error message you see if possible, and they’ll be able to help you get the issue resolved ASAP!

I have dealt with support with this issue and they gave me a pre written response basically stating almost word for word what the popup on the app says. They gave me idiotic advice such as restarting the app, restarting my phone, clearing the cache, turning on or off certain location also data. All things I’ve considered and done before contacting them, as well as things I told them I did in my initial email.I also clearly asked if this is a known issue. I cannot be the only one experiencing this. As far as your response above about catering to the masses needs. I think that is flat out bs. You are equating gamblers to the “ masses” without acknowledging it because that makes dk look as if it is using addicts, which plain and simple, it is. I could give a rats ass less as I am one who loves shooting for the moon. I am also very aware of how quickly that can get out of control to people who don’t want to acknowledge they suck at gambling/ gaming. Also lol @ support being trustworthy. Why even add that in to begin with ?

I have no problem believing that most players chase the big money, that’s what attracts most of the player base.

However, it still remains that min cash being 2X is standard for low stakes contests at both yahoo and FD. And FD’s small bunt contest fills every day, and I can only assume that players there also chase the thrill of the big win. If DK just copied and pasted that contest and offered it regularly, it would fill. If you’re worried about contests cannabilizing each other, maybe you should just get rid of the hundo series. There’s no real thrill in chasing a 14 dollar prize.

Not that long ago yahoo was the only site that offered late swap for NBA contests. Apparently most of the players didn’t want to tinker around with lineups after lock. Now all sites have late swap. FD tried dropping the lowest score in the lineup as a compromise and that lasted like 2 seasons, max. I’m guessing that letting thousands of viable LUs go to waste (especially now) was not a tenable position no matter what player feedback seemed to indicate.

I’m asking for more casual friendly contests because DK now requires spending a dollar minimum a day to complete ironman. I’m only playing NBA now to finish that achievement. If nothing else changes, I’ll probably give up playing NBA at DK (other than dime contests or a single quarter entry). DK is simply more “boom or bust” than the other two sites, and the strict pricing often makes it difficult to differentiate lineups. Psychologically speaking winning 10-20 dollars out of a small entry fee makes you feel good and want to go on. That just happens less at DK because you’re limited to HUGE gpp contests or real small ones where the upside is capped.

Never been a problem before, but I’m experiencing the same location problems intermittently that you describe for 4 days.
Canned response asking for a screenshot. My location is ON and every app I use knows my location except DK.
Turn my phone on/off, restart, uninstall DK, reinstall DK, change rooms, etc. I edit my drafts and it goes back to default daily, must start all over again.
But the robot asks for a screenshot. Hoping this stops happening soon.

You could ask 100 people what their perfect payout structure is and get 100 different answers. In the 129 pages of this thread I think this topic is beat into the ground by far the most and I have come to the conclusion that no matter what DK does it will be meant with complaints by some. I personally don’t like the lottery style payouts but I do know every other casual player I know who plays DK only cares about what the potential 1st place prize is and don’t bother looking past that. I like that DK is willing to change things up and try things new day to day but that gets meant by tons of complaints on here from people who just want a consistent offering. This is and always be a no win DK topic since if they changed to make you happy another person would pop up on here complaining about the changes and wanting to go back to what it was.
One thing DK shouldn’t do is look to Yahoo or FanDuel to see how they run their sites and try to copy that.

I understand your thoughts here but like you said it appears “lottery contests” are what they are “consistent” at. So in a sense DK has “decided” that for us.

My biggest issue with contests is still like SkateFiend said, the discrepancy of low dollar payouts (5% up top a lot of times) compared to high(er) dollar payouts (25-33% up top). Mind you I don’t like > 20% up top but 10% is the sweet spot and few low dollar entries hit that.

I know this will never be resolved but I love FD’s “low dollar & cents” contests and like the payout structure. The problem lies with FD still allowing 150 entries into those so that’s a whole other issue. In those contests I feel like people don’t mind facing all those lineups b/c there is a “higher” payout for a low dollar amount.

I guess what we’re saying is small stake contests could use some work still.

My preferred payout structure is what they offer via the Pat Mayo Experience listener league. Of course, that one is kind of the exception as it is rake free but I like the 2X min cash and flatter payout structure. I never miss playing one of those and like how they partner with Pat Mayo.

I will agree that it is good for DK to continue to work on improvements and like how they do seem to take feedback on this thread to heart sometimes like they did a few years ago when they revamped the $20 3 max MLB daily GPP to a recommended payout structure from this thread. I have retired from daily MLB play so not sure if that still exists, but it was a really good thing they did.

I don’t mind lottery style payouts, I don’t play huge contests with 5-20 dollar entry fees anyways. I’m also not complaining per se, asking DK to feature more sensible contests with (reasonable upside and min cash odds) that already exist at yahoo and FD.

Yahoo’s biggest NHL quarter contest allows 900 contestants and the top prize is 25 bucks. Winning 25 bucks out of a quarter entry is nothing to sneeze at. I probably made 40-60 bucks playing those contests. Softer competition and lower entrants makes min cashing easier. DK has a huge quarter juke box contest and a small quarter contest where he top prize is 5 bucks. There’s not much in between. Their dime contest is casual friendly but ones with good top prizes have lots of entrants.

DK rep says he put in requests for these types of contests, we’ll see what happens.

This removes the potential for personal bias or incorrect decisions as a result of “gut feelings” and assures that we are aligned with the community’s best interests.

DK now requires spending a dollar minimum a day to complete ironman

The Fantasy Basketball Ironman achievement requires a total of $1+ in NBA entry fees per day rather than $1+ on a single NBA entry. For example, 10 entries in the Dime Time will satisfy the achievement, as will an entry in the Daily Dollar.

Today again I edited a preferred snake draft lineup for 1:05 pm. When a draft started I noticed DK had reset me back to their default lineup which included a non-playing Freeman. I have to be careful, since it goes back to default whenever it wants. I withdrew from a couple other entries before they started. Got 3 lineups that I couldn’t choose properly.
I can send you “screenshot” of your default lineup ? But why ?

Hasn’t happened in over 24 hrs. Using mobile only, and not back and forth with laptop.

I already knew this, I’ve been playing 4 quarter entries for most of the season.

But NBA is such a crapshoot I’d rather play a dollar contest in the mold of FD’s small swat or dribble to meet that requirement.

Forgive me if this had been asked before, but I have a question about collecting crowns. I recently completed the NHL Ironman and collected the 25,000 crowns; which put me at diamond status. I will also be completing the NBA Ironman achievement next week.

I will not have the ability to reach Black status for June, so my question is: is there a timeframe for collecting crowns before they expire? Full disclosure- I am looking to see if I can wait until June 1 to collect my NBA Ironman; allowing me to achieve Diamond status for both June and July. Thank you!

I’m not a DK rep, but I have done this before and plan to do the same again. You have 30 days to collect the crowns.

NHL got me Diamond for June. I will wait until June 1 to claim NBA Ironman. You should have until the middle of June to claim it (5/16/2021 + 30 days). But there’s no reason to wait around after June starts, you can’t hold them until July anyways.
