Can you put out small 1 dollar contests where the top prize 20 o 30 dollars? Both Yahoo and FD have them (DK has one for the KBO). DK has “hundo” contests and a 59 player contests with the prize being 14 dollars and 10 dollars, respectively. Min cash isn’t 2X for both.

I actually like all the new customers, but the new scoring system makes it more of a lottery than a game of skill.

We are always looking for opportunities to evolve our skill-based DFS contests, any changes we are considering are always thoroughly back-tested to ensure that the result aligns with our intentions long before you’d see them incorporated into live contests.

For example, the Bonuses added in prior seasons (they are not new) were added to reward great performances, while avoiding a resulting scenario where Bonuses would be the primary source of scoring. Another example is the change to goalie scoring with the addition of 2 FPTS for an Overtime Loss. This change falls in alignment with NHL goalie statistics having not two but three potential game results (W-L-OT), with each of the three being scored differently (6FPTS -0FPTS-2PTS in DFS scoring, 2PTS-0PTS-1PT in NHL standings). In Classic Mode, a win was previously valued as 15 additional saves, whereas now the number is closer to 9 additional saves.

To me this is a glitch in your Tiers $6k payout structure

Trust us; there is a method to our madness! Nothing escapes our oversight. We consider every factor through the lens of our demand forecast models.

We haven’t been shy about sharing that to the outside, our strategy may appear random and chaotic at times. This is all part of our plan – it is intentional and designed to help us test numerous points of data as the seasons evolve. You might be curious to read through some of our prior posts on this subject, we have discussed why we choose specific contest entry fees and sizing often.

The global player swap on the DK app needs to have the batting order indicator that shows starting lineup players.

Excellent suggestion, bravo! DK strives to offer the most user-friendly place to play DFS across all platforms, including the full website as well as the Android and iOS apps. Admittedly there are times where apps and web functionality do not align, in due time we intend to create parity whenever possible as long as other pressing issues are not competing for developer resources. Will we be able to add batting order indicators to global player swap? Only time will tell – but we can assure you that it’s on the radar!

Any thoughts to a partial crowns system?

Another intriguing idea! We like where your head’s at, who knows what the future could hold for Crowns?

Currently in DFS our minimum entry fee to earn a crown is $1, but we remain open to future possibilities.

PS: mini-MAX is already a great place to rack up Achievements to boost your Daily Rewards tier, which also allows you to earn more crowns!

Back to MLB and why for a week solid do you make the $5 gpp (which once again filled every time) and then turn it into a $8 and then a $10gpp? You are missing out on so many customers who just want a nice mid sized GPP. And no your $4entry $250 prize pool is just a waste of everyones times.

I’ve been talking about how small stakes players are really “forced” into some things they don’t want to play because we feel some of the lower options you mention aren’t worth our time.

Our data shows that the vast majority of players enjoy the vibrant array of contests we’re able to offer, including our players from across the pond. By posting a varied mix of contests, we’re offering a little something for everyone. That way, everyone has a reason to stick around.

If we consistently offered contests that were considered ideal by a handful of people, but weren’t that appealing to the broader player community, the ecosystem would contract – which would in turn hurt all contests in the long run. Remember – contest size and scope are determined by expected demand, which gives you the power to impact the contests you want to see adjusted by favoring them.

Being true AI, it has determined that all people not named papagates, chipotle addict, etc are a disease and must be ignored! I heard Elon is very interested in buying their algorithm as it is so awesome!

Every single customer is treated equally with the same equivalent reverence. All customers are held accountable to the same Terms of Use, and Community Guidelines. We don’t care if the player has spent just $1 or $1,000,000 in entry fees – the same rules apply for all.

As for Papa Elon, Technoking of Tesla, Imperator of Mars….. Call us :-)

Can you put out small 1 dollar contests where the top prize 20 o 30 dollars?

We’re always happy to run new requests by the team! Are you looking for this contest in a specific sport?

    I still want full-day slates!

I asked this last year and figured the COVID thing made the all day slates hard to play with the ppd’s. I really hope they bring back the all day slates for baseball this year. I agree that day baseball really gets the shaft from DK. As someone who has the time to watch and play daytime sports, it’s frustrating.

yes. you would think they would have a customer advisory committee or something. I have been on DK since at least 2013. I do believe they are the best DFS site and do more than the rest through loyalty rewards and promos. I do think the the DFS crowd is finite now that sports betting is pretty much legal everywhere. It’s kinda like the smoking thing. they will just keep making a little less attractive, ( bad payouts and crappy slates) , until all that is left are the addicted. I am not sure we aren’t already there. as much as I used to promote DFS and try to get people in. the last two years I tell people to stay away. the good times have gone away. I think PGA and NFL will be the only things I play moving forward.

Ain’t that the truth lol I do both DFS and betting now but there’s just something about making lineups (even if they aren’t any good).

I think there’s a lot of talking past each other on this topic at this point so I’ll be brief here. While I don’t share the exact same experience as the poster you’re responding to, I do share their general opinion. You’re right that things can seem “random and chaotic” to the player in terms of contest offerings, whether or not it’s part of your plan on no matter how much benefit you get from testing “numerous points of data”, I continue to believe that this is a SIGNIFICANT pain point for a large portion of regular players.

I enjoy Boston Creme donuts, when get off the subway (at Kendall Square, if you happen to be in the Cambridge, MA location imagine that I’m waving hello from down the street) each morning I pass two different bakeries – one of those is a Dunkin (yuck) and the other makes really good pastries but rotates their flavors without a set schedule. Unfortunately I don’t know what the good bakery is going to have each morning, so I stop at the Dunkin to get my Boston Creme donut. I know what I want and while one location might be superior to the other in quality, it’s frustrating to go in and see that they don’t have what I want, so Dunkin it is.

This is probably a poor analogy, but I know the games I want to play and it’s just as frustrating to log in Draftkings every morning in the hope that I find what I’m looking for, while knowing I can go to a platform that, while I find slightly inferior, I at least know that the game I want will be there.

I have no doubt that you see the benefit of a strategy that appears “random and chaotic”, but from the point of view of someone who plays consistently it can be extremely frustrating and confusing. I’ve already dropped one sport from my Draftkings repertoire for this very reason – MLS, admittedly a niche offering, but sad that DK is the only platform that offers it and the experience was frustrating enough that I just gave up.

All of my contests and lineups have dissappeared from my acct? Future and current. What is going on?

Why does the Ironman for MLB include the playoffs this year? Every Ironman ever only included the regular season, and the All-Star game (provided there is one). Why the change?

  • picklepicklepickle

more than reasonable. thank you draftkings

We understand that watching your lineups and making last-minute lineup adjustments is imperative to your experience. As this was not the experience we know you were hoping for, to ensure that you are not at a loss for your contests. We will credit you the difference between your entry fees and your winnings for your lineups in which you drafted a player from the CWS vs CLE game. For example, if you had $10 worth of affected lineups and win $5 total, your credit will be $5. We will credit your account within 24 hours.

  • BigRay

Once again. Here we are on Saturday and can’t get a full day slate for MLB. I guess those will never return. Oh well.

Remember the homerun shtick they ran in 2019 where you had to play like a minimum of 20 lineups just to cover your ass in the event a homerun was hit in the All Star Game?

That one single game, an exhibition where the stats don’t count nonetheless, killed A LOT of people trying to get that achievement.

I can tell you guys from personal experience, just walking away is the best thing. I played DK and FD every single day for years. On April 1, I deleted the apps. It’s been the most peaceful month I’ve had in years. No more chasing silly little achievements for me…

And funny story, went to Cherokee casino recently. Had not been there since early May 2019 for the Kentucky Derby… Mind you, havent spent a dime there in almost two years, and within 2 hours of being there and playing the quarter slots, I had been perked a free room and a free voucher to Paula Dean’s restaurant.

It really made me think about DFS and just how shitty it is and how easily company’s like DK manipulate us fish into believing we matter…

In one afternoon, Cherokee Casino had offered me more incentives/perks to do business with them then Draftkings has offered me, in total, dating back to 2015-2016. I wasn’t dropping big money there either, I was literally playing $20 a time in the quarter slots. And left the following day with a profit!

Those achievements are not rewards. They’re bait.

Absolutely right. This is the last year I will play NBA and NHL. I think I have been burned by game cancellations due to COVID or Social Justice issues this year and won’t make it, even though I attempted to play a $1+ everyday. I will still play a little MLB as I love that sport but the $750 max prize pools for $1 as the only low cost option, don’t interest me and won’t play those.

I was thinking MLB. Fanduel has one for every sport. The same for Yahoo, if I’m not mistaken.

  • Njsum1

    @realphipps said...

I didn’t go for the homerun achievement, yet that sucks if no one homering (Or no one anyone would play) in the all star game caused people to miss out.

Yet to be fair, IMO the Ironman has always been a pretty solid and worthwhile achievement for smaller players. You get like what equates to a $110 for just playing $1 a day on DFS sports you’d probably play anyway. That’s a solid reward for consistent low dollar play.

I was asking about the MLB Ironman extending into the playoffs as no other Ironman challenges have ever extended into the playoffs.

Furthermore, baseball is my least favorite and least profitable DFS sport and I likely wouldn’t play it regularly if not for the Ironman challenge. Every year I’m happy to stop playing MLB when the regular season ends.

Knowing that I have to play 200 slates instead of 180 might cause me to not regularly play MLB, so I was curious as to why, for the first time, the Ironman for MLB extended into the playoff months.

Was wondering if it was just a mistake, and if there was any way it could go back to being 180-ish days played instead of 200 🤷‍♂️

Why did DK move the start time of a PPD contest in MLB. What is the standard going forward for this? Why wasnt it done in UFC a few weeks ago when the first fight did not start until 30 minutes after lock and there was a late withdrawal?

  • skleni

“Tonight’s (4/28) Tigers/White Sox game has been postponed. We have pushed back the start time of this game in tonight’s contests. These players will not accrue points tonight so please make sure to check your lineups!”

I feel like this is really not a good look, you can’t just change the rules for the contests on the fly. It is all about consistency.

I really hope they bring back the all day slates for baseball this year.

We recognize that some in the community enjoy taking in a full slate of games throughout the entire day, and you have our commitment to keeping our eyes peeled for opportunities to run All Day slates – but we want to set realistic expectations that all day slates will not be the only option we provide.

We’ve seen a significant increase in demand both in customer feedback and also in how entry fees are allocated for shorter slates throughout the past few years that do not require a long time commitment after lineups are submitted.

Offering showdowns and smaller game sets throughout the day allows us to offer contests that include as many MLB games as possible while ensuring that the contests are appetizing enough to continue growing the game. This does not mean we are ignoring all-day MLB slates, but it does mean we will continue to find the right balance as dictated by our customers. We know that the RotoGrinders preference tends to be full day slates, however our job is to balance the needs of all players – not just RG members. We think we are doing a pretty good job of that so far, metrics are up across the board!

you would think they would have a customer advisory committee or something.

You are correct! We have an active committee of players representing voices from around the DFS and Sportsbook communities that share their opinions about how we can improve our products for all. We also have many teams within DK, including our Marketing, Support, and Player Engagement teams, dedicated to keeping our finger on the community’s pulse while performing customer and product research.

Each opinion is important to us, but we also need to make sure that the entire collection of voices guides our decisions rather than any single person. Our goal remains to grow all of our products across all verticals, which benefits everyone – even if you only participate on one product or another.

I enjoy Boston Creme donuts, when get off the subway (at Kendall Square, if you happen to be in the Cambridge, MA location imagine that I’m waving hello from down the street) each morning I pass two different bakeries

Thank you for taking the time to put your thoughts into words and sharing this clever analogy!

We respect the sentiment, but we also want to point out that DFS is a slightly different scenario because having bigger contests that all players participate in benefits everyone in the contest – including you!

In contrast, you are unlikely to gain any advantage by sharing your donut with thousands of people, no matter how big the donut is.

By offering contests that will appeal to as broad of a player base as possible, we can continually provide bigger, better, and more comprehensive contest selection as time goes on.

PS: I used to take the red line in from Porter. Picture me waving hello back as I go by – with a bag of Dunks Boston Cremes in my hand!

Why does the Ironman for MLB include the playoffs this year?

Each sport’s calendar has unique characteristics, and we want our achievement programs to reflect these differences and remain aligned with the underlying sports. Leagues like the NFL and MLB have shorter postseasons than leagues like the NBA and NHL, which have longer postseasons that allow us to offer greater achievement rewards.

Achievements are designed to bring an extra level of enjoyment to the contests that you already love sweating out. We are committed to monitoring our achievement programs to ensure they continue to meet that goal, so please do not hesitate to share your feedback here or by emailing support@draftkings.com at any time!

    I was thinking MLB.

Request submitted! Feel free to email our Customer Support team at support@draftkings.com with contest requests at any time, too. All requests we receive are tracked and reviewed by our teams, even if we cannot post the contest at that time.

Why did DK move the start time of a PPD contest in MLB.

I feel like this is really not a good look, you can’t just change the rules for the contests on the fly. It is all about consistency.

Our contest rules are designed to account for all possibilities so that each contest provides a fair and consistent playing experience for all entrants. We will never deviate from our well-defined Rules & Scoring.

For MLB contests, in most cases, players lock at the scheduled start time of the game and may not be added or removed once the game start time has passed. When possible, if a game is officially postponed far enough ahead of the scheduled start time, we are able to push the lock time of that game back so that players can make adjustments. We’re unable to do so if a game is postponed after the original start time.

For MMA contests, which do not have late swap, lineups may be edited at any time leading up to an event. Each individual fighter will become “locked” at the scheduled start time of the event. A locked fight cannot be added or removed from a roster spot.

PS: We know that there are a lot of requests for lateswap in MMA, however it is not possible to offer this while maintaining the integrity of the game. All MLB games have listed start times, but MMA, Tennis and E-Sports do not – they list for the first match only. We continue to keep our eyes out for ways to evolve here.

Is draftkings considering NBA tournaments without late editing?

You may be interested in playing our NBA Snake draft contests! In snake draft contests, participants will draft a lineup via a live snake draft. After the draft, trades or other roster management activity will not be allowed.

Snake drafts will begin once the required number of entrants enter the contest (snake draft contests must fill completely), so you can join a draft whenever is convenient for your schedule! There will be a one minute countdown period between the time the contest fills and the time the countdown begins for the first pick of the draft. The draft order is determined at random once the contest fills. You can withdraw from a snake draft at any time before the contest fills.

Speaking of consistency/predictability in contest offerings…I asked this last year too but I wonder if you might be able to offer up anything in regards to plans surrounding MLS contests?

Today we’ve got a nice eight match schedule that’s evenly split with four afternoon and four night matches (I know better than to ask about a full schedule slate :) ), but we’ve only got the option to play a four match evening slate – the afternoon matches are left out. Even for showdowns, two of the matches (RSL/SKC and MTL/CLB) aren’t playable at all today. Do you think this will be the norm throughout the season or is there room for expansion?

While I play most everything, MLS is the sport I most want to play in terms of DFS and is one I would put a bit of time and energy into if I knew what to expect in terms of playable slates/matches. My fear with jumping into MLS is that I’m going to spend an hour on Wednesday night researching one of the weekend matches only to find out it’s just not offered. Not knowing which matches will be offered until the morning of, or night before, makes it unlikely that I’m going to play – even though it’d be by far my number one sport of interest – and three weeks into the season I’m stumped as to what the offerings are going to be until I wake up on Saturday morning.

I know the MLS community is small, but we do exist and Draftkings remains the only platform where we can play.

Hi everyone – Need some help for my retired dad who fell in love with Draftkings over the last 2 years and now is suddenly and incorrectly blocked from one of his favorite hobbies!

The facts as I know them:

    - We live in Maryland – near both PA and WV, both of which are fine for DFS. – Yesterday, out of nowhere, he got the following error message when trying to enter a contest
“FAILED TO JOIN. You may see this error if you are running any software that is disguising your location or are in a region that does not permit contest entry at this price point.” – I did some reading (though it was all related to sportsbook and THIS is for DFS) and it suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the APP. I did that and it worked for him last night. He tried to enter today, however, and the error was back. – One thing that seemed to be VPN related – My dad does a little accounting work as a retirement gig and some of his software DOES use VPN services he said. However, he had no issues last year or ever before and has been working on taxes for folks for the last 3 months with no problems in 2021. – Both his computer AND app won’t work – the APP won’t work with WiFi or disconnected – Location services on his phone are on.

I see tons of “it might be this” or “maybe try this” online, nothing has worked… DK support has been tolerating his many emails but no one has offered one solution.

Dad’s a small time player. Has $125 in his account and 14,000 crowns he’s worked for 2 years to earn.

Hoping to find a solution for him. Can anyone help out? Even a direct line to someone he can talk to rather than the random customer service emails would be helpful.

    Thanks, friends!
