Gold’s 1 time gift that just popped up in my personal offer was 25.000 crowns so that’s a nice free $45.45. Maybe it won’t be so bad after all if that’s a yearly gift and not just a 1 time thing for life. As that plus a few ironman/s missions would keep me easily in the gold status year on year. Gold status is worth $227 in crowns alone so that it likely just below what daily rewards used to get me as I always got 2 months of Diamond and like 6 months of platinum before by timing achievements. However one nice thing about this perk is I don’t have to worry about logging in everyday or think about if I should hold or claim my achievements/ missions every month.

  • Steverino01

I’m also Gold. I went into the promotions page and DK gave me 25,000 crowns to get started, so that was nice of them.

  • TheShaman43

I am only able to look at the app right now, so maybe I’m missing out on information available via desktop, but…

*Firstly, as someone able to grab Diamond a few months a year thanks to Ironman achievements I can now see that Diamond is essentially out of reach for me. I need 500K yearly crowns, with each Ironman worth 25K I can’t even get halfway there playing the four major sports. As a single lineup per slate player I really don’t rack up a ton in the accumulative types of achievements. What this also means is that starting tonight I’m no longer playing NBA. I’m not the biggest fan in the world and I played it solely for those 25,000 crowns. I’m a gold player now, Diamond isn’t for me, so no sense in dumping $5-10 a night into basketball.

Ok, I know what I am now: I am Gold, what do I get from it? According to the app, I get…

    • “Priority customer support” No. This is just a big no from me in terms of value. Firstly, existing support is scripted from keywords and you’re lucky if you manage to get off that script after several messages. So, support as it exists quite frankly isn’t good. As a consumer I absolutely, 100%, DO NOT WANT to be told that some customers are prioritized over others. I’m intelligent enough to know that every industry and company caters to the high value customers in a way that they don’t cater to the “average Joe”, most companies don’t go through the effort to explicitly state this. If you’re going to serve your customers then you ought to serve your customers whether they’re spending one dollar or a million. To explicitly state that I’ve earned priority customer service is a TRUST BUSTER. At least try to maintain the illusion that all customers are valued and treated equally.
    • “20% Crown Accrual Bonus” Sure, I’ll take this. I haven’t done the math, but I don’t know that the crown boost provides the same value that four months of Daily Diamond Rewards used to, but I’ll take more crowns.
    • “Gold exclusive contests and promotions” Another wait and see for me. I’ll say that this is the road other sites choose to travel and its underwhelming. If I’m looking at weekly/monthly contests that are available in sports I have no interest in (cough FanDuel “Thanks for spending! Your monthly free play is here!” In MMA only, when I’ve never played an MMA contest in my life and have no interest in starting) or have a cash line where only the top

Half my comment was eaten, guess I went on too long, but to continue with the bullet point list of perks in the app…

    • “Start Earning crowns” and “Access to Missions, Achievements, and Promotions”. I already get this regardless of tier, don’t I?
    • “Access to the Dynasty Store” I honestly have less than zero interest in this. I’m not interest in swag or merch and outside of maybe a cursory browse (and who knows, maybe that will change my mind) I doubt I ever even look at what’s made available to me here.

In the end, I see a rollout of a program that I’ll probably forget exists after a few months. DK will spin this as a good thing, the rewards keep rolling whether I’m paying attention or not, and it’s not an incorrect way to look at it. But in terms of me actually engaging with their product, there’s little chance that this doesn’t cause that to diminish…and as someone who spends a few hundred a year rather than a few thousand they may be ok with that.

  • Supersharpie

While this is a step back, the new rewards program still blows FD’s out of the water.

    liked was the yearly aspect.

I was actually sick of trying to figure out which crowns to claim, from which sport, on which date, each month.
And waiting for DK to update them.

  • DougFunny

Im a small stakes player who is 7k points short of gold and no way to get there by the end of the year. If the old rewards program was in place i would have gotten $65 in daily rewards next month. This sucks i played every day thinking it would be one thing only for you guys to switch up and screw me over.

Why the big cut is DK losing money in there sportsbook??

We want you to be able to benefit from the status earned! If you earned IronMan but did not claim the crowns in October, we can adjust your tier. DK’s support team will make sure we leave nobody behind!

DK says they will work with players who didn’t know when to claim crowns etc.
Give them a day or so and they might help some people.

It just shows me DK doesnt really care about the small players that stuck with them from the beginning they have sportsbook now there stock is doing good why worry about the small guys.

This. A post a page or two back was a little concerning but dk has historically been fair from my experience with matters like this. Give them some time…

Now the lack of answers/public acknowledgment on what has happened with the NFT marketplace has been a whole different matter.

That is never going to happen and this change is definitely a hit to the yearly achievements like the Ironman. Now you will just get your 25,000 worth $45.45 and no extra benefit from the daily rewards that used to make Ironman worth $100+ as you usually got $60-$70 in daily rewards for Diamond.

I doubt many players will spend 100 plus dollars on MLB just to get 50 dollars worth of crowns. As of now, I have incentive to walk away from NBA (other than some coin contests), which is total net negative for anyone who doesn’t play volume game.

DK should tinker around with rewards to accommodate casual players. What about mini ironman that rewards 5K-10K crowns for playing at least a dime contest a day?

For NHL many of us have already completed 25 of 170 needed. Changing it now we have to decide if its even worth it to keep going.

Priority Customer Support – an expedited lane to our customer support team.”

Congrats on your gold (I’m silver); but honestly, isn’t it kind of a bad look for DK to put in print (regardless of truth) that people get different levels of customer support…? I mean we all know it totally makes sense, but I would never put it in print!

Yes, I’m surprised they would even say that.

Well, this is definitely a step back for small ball players like myself, but let’s be honest. Giving out $100+ monthly rewards for playing $1 per game every season doesn’t help DK graduate players to higher levels or give much incentive for players like myself to play bigger, which is mostly what reward programs should try and do.

This may not be the right forum to discuss this idea, but in my opinion until DK and all of the DFS providers start to create more of a competitive game experience for small players vs. larger (high bankroll/high experience) players then no reward program except for giving small ball players money back to stick around will suffice.

What I remember most about the online poker days was there was a hierarchy among players based upon bankroll and playing experience. Players would grind at the low levels with hopes to grow a bankroll and move up table limits. And hey, if you weren’t ready for the high limits and your bankroll took a hit, you dropped back down and grinded some more.

With DFS there is no hierarchy. The top players in DFS have just as much incentive to enter the $3 buy in as they do the $3000 buy in terms of making money with an optimized lineup. So the small ball player who is trying to learn the game or doesn’t have the time it takes to be a top player usually runs out of bankroll unless they hit a big payday.

Obviously this isn’t good in the long run for DK or the small player. So instead of super analyzing the best and worst parts of a small incentive program, let’s encourage DK to put more incentives into designing a DFS platform that will create a place for everyone to compete and have fun!!!!

  • chbaer1982

I don’t understand the business decision at all.
They had a system in place that commited players to log in daily. I think they hugely underestimate how valuable that was.
Getting rid of it just to save a few promo dollars, seriously?

It’s really not that uncommon in the service/ tour industry. I like to cruise and the higher tier members have dedicated help lines and their own special lines at guest services that require no waiting. Airlines are the same way where the higher tiers get priority service and so on.

It looks like I’m still to do daily missions. I just collected 15 crown for playing 1$+ today. I’m a bit confused, I thought they had ended?

  • Tapindouble

The help service thing is stupid.

But apparently compared to you guys I’ve always had exceptional service. I’ve always thought DK had the best service around. BUT you can’t just send them a message. That service sucks. The instant chat is always quick and super helpful. I’ve been doing that for years now

Missions, achievements, and crown value is not changing with this program. Just the daily rewards that you had to claim daily are gone.

Yes, in my experience they do. I’m as skeptical about the new rewards program as everyone else, but customer service has always been a strength of DK. DK support typically responds (in a meaningful way) within a day or so. By comparison, FanDuel often takes a week while BetMGM either never responds or just responds with some nonsensical answer that equates to a ‘no’.
