I’ll throw in my comment on the flatter payouts for GPPs. 10% to 1st, 10% of that to 10th. Pay out 18% or so and min cash is 2.5x entry fee.

For me, flatten payouts is the big one. If you min cash, you should always get at least double your buy-in back. And while I agree with the sentiment on 20 max contests at lower buy-ins, I would like to see at least one big one (150 max) each week at the .25, $1, $2 and $3 buy-in level (ESPECIALLY for NFL). There is nothing saying you can’t do both and I’m pretty sure both would fill.

This sentiment seems to be echoed a lot and I believe it is one of the most important. Flatten the payout. At least give flatter payouts a try, or offer flatter payouts alongside the top heavy ones. I realize that some players want to chase the big prize, yet many realize it’s a waste of their time. If after offering contests with flatter payouts, the data suggests that such contests aren’t attracting enough participants, you can always go back to top heavy contests. I think players would understand, especially if someone from DK came onto the message board and gave an explanation.

Min cash doubles up. Top 20 to 25% get paid.

maybe an industry question but why do sites and you can speak for DK..Not be transparent on the rake? why not list events based on rake or at least show it? In the age of transparency and the willingness to act customer friendly it seems all sites do as much as possible to not show the rake on events.

DK is one of the more transparent companies in regards to rake. They have the max rake posted on the link below and if you find any contest with a higher rake they will refund you the difference plus you can sign up for email alerts if they ever change their rake structure.

    https://www.draftkings.com/lp/commission-structure

Granted they don’t show it on the contest lobby but with the Rotogrinders premium add on extensions you can see the real time rake and overlay as contests fill with the maximum amount it will be once the contest is full.

The first two things that came to mind are : more contests with flatter payout structures and I’d also like the ability to post multiple 3 man’s across buy in levels like h2h’s.

Whenever you screw people out of hundreds of dollars like the pelicans game that had the roof leak don’t offer a free roll that has 20k plus people and pay first place $500. I shouldn’t have to beat our 20k plus people to even try to get my money back

This.. Contests like the milly maker and many other top heavy payouts are unnecessary.

The Milly Make is the ONLY reason I ever use DK for NFL

This is hands down my biggest issue. Totally agree with this. Would love to see only 20% of the field get paid and at least 2x min cash with no more than 20% to first. Spreading the money out a little is better for everyone IMO.

A once a week day for 150 lineups in .25/$1/$3 GPPs

    Flatter payouts overall

    10% to first
    10th place is 10% of 1st place
    18-20% paid
Minimum cash is 2x buy in

  • ocdobv

The lineups page is basically useless for people that play a lot of lineups in multiple sports. Please fix this.

  • jmo26

As most others have said: flatter payouts, lower rake.

I won’t repeat what’s already been said, many others have done a good job of covering why this needs to happen, but it really is a no-brainer. We all benefit in the long run if more people are profiting.

Also like this idea — I think most would be okay with this happening once a week.

Top Heavy Payouts. Can we please curtail these? I understand if every now and then you want to put a huge figure up top, but regularly having contests with several thousand or more entries that payout 20% or more to first creates a lot of unnecessary risk. Either players will not adjust accordingly and you will cause lots of very good players to lose a lot of money and be forced to move down, or players will realize that for every dollar they bet their risk of ruin increases the more top heavy payouts become and players will have to bet a smaller % of their bankroll in these contests. It seems like either is suboptimal longterm.

This is huge issue. There were NFL GPPs 3 years ago that paid $50k for 1st out of a $700k prize pool. Today, we have $50k for 1st out of a $250k prize pool. This is not progress.

With it being so easy to get mobile notifications about players unexpectedly playing or not playing in the NBA, please bring back late swap for NBA. Also, I’d love to see the dollar amount I have invested in each lineup on the My Lineups page. This should be an easy addition that can go right next to the number of entries a lineup is used in. Thanks!

Love this sentiment and it is one I share.

I used to enjoy mass entering 150 lineups at a $1, $2, $3 buy-in level. Now all the 150 max are at the $5 and up level and most often at $8, which is something I cannot afford. Just 1-2 days a week where I can mass enter at $1 would be a lot of fun, and would allow those less tolerant of risking tons of money the ability to practice MME.

You can keep 20-max in a lot of the contests, while still having 150-max occasionally to allow the lower bankroll players the chance to experiment with MME.

Don’t think it will, but would absolutely love to see this happen.

**Please don’t tell people you already offer late swap. You don’t. Not really.

  • tmirrione

I’ll echo the comments on the flatter payout structure. The 1.5x min cash is awful. There are gpps where a top 4% finish doesn’t even get you 3x payouts. (i.e., tonight’s $15k pickoff).

With regards to late swap, follow the model of DRAFT, where you can swap out only a player whose status has changed. That makes it fair to all players, without creating the advantage to the player sitting in front of their computer all night.

This is the ONLY viable late swap procedure….you should not be able to adjust other spots , just that one that got scratched

Offer up more “King of the” type live events with low buy-ins and limited entries (5 at most worked great for your NFL contest) per person. You all do such a great job with those events and it is fun to see people there who are first-timers.

Thank you all for submitting great questions and comments. We are honored to have so much interest from this community and are working diligently to respond to everyone. Based on your posts, we are seeing a few key themes that we will address:

    1. Prizing /payout structures, and how we are trying to balance the expectations of all players
    2. Commissions and the sustainability of the contest ecosystem
    3. Discussion of our limited entry game formats
      1. Requests to provide more options to choose from to appeal to a wide range of player needs
      2. Requests to enable 150 entries on a small bankroll (exceptions to our 20max restriction for contests under $5)
    4. Ideas for future platform enhancements
    5. How we make DraftGroup (aka slate) decisions

We will address each of these topics in more depth in the coming days. Please allow us some time to post responses, you deserve well thought out answers. We’re on it!

Cutting MNF from the main slate was annoying, cutting SNF from the main slate was worse, cutting west coast games from the main MLB night slate is a bridge too far for me. They only did this one night, so hopefully that’ll be the end of that.

Oddly enough I like the early only Sun main slates for MLB. West coast lineups were a major ass ache, so kudos for that.

Completely agree with this 100%. Supposedly they are only doing it when only one 9pm game is scheduled. I don’t think dk should do it all as it diminishes the skill aspect when you have less game on a slate in my opinion.

I’m throwing support for the once a week 150 max entry low dollar buy in tournament.

Also would be nice to be able to directly enter a contest with a .CSV as opposed to bringing it to the lineups page and then entering,

  • kujo33

Consistent GPP’s. I like playing the 20 max and it tends to get replaced with a $5 150 max and then the lower dollar prize pools get cut down. Have noticed this specifically for golf.
