Why have todays MLB Tiers contests gone from $5 like they have been all season to $8? They always fill and even if you were worried about the Golf today why not just make it a $700 to first like you usually do?

I really hope this is just because the golf starts today and we’re not going to start seeing erratic changes to entry fees like you did with Soccer.

I had a strange thing happen to me the other day. I was in the middle of entering a lineup on the app, when I got a popup to participate in a new York state freeroll for golf on sunday (May 19.) Not sure what happened, but the free NBA contest I was entering had a pop up ad that I closed out of. Apparently, I may have closed out of the New York freeroll as well.

I emailed draftkings support about this, and apparently, the representative was unable to get my NY freeroll ticket back. He did however, give me a $3 ticket, which I am forever grateful for. I’m wondering though, what happened to the NY freeroll? Did it just disappear?

I really hope this is just because the golf starts today and we’re not going to start seeing erratic changes to entry fees like you did with Soccer.

Since April 1st there have been 83 Tiers contests completed with an entry fee of $5, that have a prize pool of $1000 or greater. During this time frame there were only 2 contests offered at $8, both happened to be yesterday. This occurred because we needed to shift the entry fees of some of the adjacent contests offered, this allows us to balance liquidity across MLB contests. It also allows us to A/B test alternative ideas. This is something we do every day across the ecosystem, it’s actually very common – but if we do a great job it’s not that noticeable except when your fav contest is experiencing change like yours did yesterday.

Cool, I will avoid your showdown contests unless I need them for my achievements.

We work hard to provide many different options across the widest range of entry fees to provide freedom of choice. You also have the freedom to choose not to play if you do not wish to participate in the contest options we offer, and that’s ok too.

The freeroll you asked about is part of our Bring Mobile Sports Betting to New York! grass roots initiative. The projected tax revenue that mobile betting would have already generated for New York this year already exceeds 37 million, it is predicted that mobile sports betting will generate 100 million every year in tax revenue for NY State.

The freeroll and the associated message you can send to NY lawmakers advocating to allow mobile betting on sports can be found at https://www.dkgrassroots.com/letnybet.html

Important talking points that highlight what New York is missing:

    1) Without mobile betting you would be required to go to a physical location to place a bet. That means that you can’t bet from the comfort and privacy of your home or from your favorite restaurant while you watch the game.

    2) Without mobile betting money will continue to flow to illegal offshore bookies instead of staying in NY where it is needed.

    3) Just like ride sharing apps revolutionized the way in which people get around NY, mobile sports betting will revolutionize how fans enjoy the games they love. People in states like New Jersey are already enjoying innovative features like Live/In-Game bets, Pools, Cross-Sport Parlays, Futures, Prop Bets and more.

PS: Someone from our Support team has already been in contact, you should be all set to go!

Anyone know if there is a trick to being able to access deposit transactions after trying to sort out deposits only? When I choose deposits, I get a blank screen every time.

The Transaction History page populates the 1,500 most recent transactions on your account. If 1,500 or more transactions have been made on your account since your most recent deposit, the deposit will not populate on this page. Transactions are defined as anything from entry fees and winnings credited to Daily Rewards and completed Missions.

Please contact support@draftkings.com for any specific deposit transaction history related to your account.

The 19th hole was possibly the worst structured mlb gpp ever.

We take full responsibility for this mistake. This was not the contest structure we intended to use for this GPP. We have since identified the source of this error and, going forward, will make any adjustments necessary to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We can do better. We will do better.

how do i go about getting rid of account restrictions

We cannot discuss your personal account details in a public forum, please email support@draftkings.com. We take account restrictions very seriously, but we are willing to review when necessary.

Will FanDuel start to offer additional soccer contests besides UCL and EPL? For instance the women’s World Cup or any other leagues?

Not sure, you’d have to ask them. We (DraftKings) have and will continue to offer leagues across the globe (MLS, Liga MX, etc). Keep your eye on the lobby and you’ll like what you see.

Thanks DraftKings Community team for making this a regular part of your day/week. Because your still doing this, I assume, its beneficial in multiple ways. I get that you cant please everyone. LOL I have read many things and a lot are at cross purposes to individual taste and perceptions. I think you do a damn fine job, communicating to people here.

My focus to try to stay with a positive bankroll has been play DFS Golf. I wasnt much of a golfer in real life but I enjoy the DFS game. The difficulty and the odds to come out on top of the multitudes of others, fits my profile. So I reach out to you to ask DK DFS golf questions regularly. I ignore the thread unless I am looking for a response.

Several weeks ago you responded to my question about golf showdown survivor game. You set me straight on how that translates to FGWC. The other question about the visability of the game was left unanswered. I was excited to see a less expensive version $11 entry contest for the PGA Championship. I played but did not survive(LOL). The golf forum was pretty receptive to the contest. Some wished it was even less expensive. DK had a good showing of Golf forum participants in the contest.
    1) still no visibility to Rd2-4 in the DK lobby.
    2) I received links from people in the contest but always received 404 error on DK site
    3) The contest didnt fill but I dont think DK lost money, entrance fees covered payout
    4) I did not see any promotion or word that the contest existed, so it was spread word of mouth.
    5) tons of interest was in this type of contest
    6) the contest as of yet is not offered @ $11 this week, only $111 is available. WHY
When are you going to make the cvs for these contests visable to all, I assume the developers are having some issue

I echo what Tim said but he said Players instead of PGA Championship haha The $11 price tag was a little more than I would normally play but I didn’t mind it. I wouldn’t mind a smaller entry contest to accomplish this but I think it should be a 3-5 entry max if the “survivors” can have 20 (if perfect) of the 50 top lineups. It’s tough to compete against that and the single guys were put at a significant disadvantage IMO. So a smaller survivor contest with a 3-5 entry max might work better and maybe even draw more interest. Either way loved the contest but could be even better with some tweaks.

You have a valid point, and therefore we think a little transparency is overdue. Let’s fix that with this post. We’ve only shown R1 as a public contest thus far, all subsequent rounds have been shown as private to avoid any confusion for people not playing this contest. Now that we have a few weeks under our belts, we are going to start to show all rounds as public – but ticket entry will still obviously be required. This is standard operating procedure for us, yet when we see there is confusion – we pivot.

    2) I received links from people in the contest but always received 404 error on DK site

We cannot be sure why you are getting a 404 error without knowing the URL, please email it support@draftKings.com for a review. We suspect it might be caused by a private contest for which you do not have a ticket entry.

    3) The contest didnt fill but I dont think DK lost money, entrance fees covered payout

See the answer to #5 below.

    4) I did not see any promotion or word that the contest existed, so it was spread word of mouth.

Generally speaking, survivor contests are not large enough to warrant extensive promotional resources. That’s not to say that we can’t allocate resources at some point, when there is a need – we will do it. We want to grow these games as much as you want us to, we use other tools to do that rather than extensive promotional spending to remain efficient.

    5) tons of interest was in this type of contest

That is debatable, from our perspective we recently ran an $11 contest that was 40% smaller than our $111 survivor that did not do well. Golf is still growing – our focus is on growing the ecosystem, not the specific contest.

    6) the contest as of yet is not offered @ $11 this week, only $111 is available. WHY
When are you going to make the cvs for these contests visible to all, I assume the developers are having some issues

We chose to offer the $111 survivor because our predictive analysis showed that there was more high-stakes demand than low-stakes demand. Over time, we would hope to include many different price points, but that is not realistic at this point in time – it remains hard to fill meaningful prize pools for smaller tournaments such as the Charles Schwab.

With that said, we want you to know that you have our commitment to continue to monitor survivor performance and continue to look for ways that we can improve.

The $11 price tag was a little more than I would normally play but I didn’t mind it. I wouldn’t mind a smaller entry contest to accomplish this but I think it should be a 3-5 entry max if the “survivors” can have 20 (if perfect) of the 50 top lineups. Each entry into a contest has the same exact probability of winning, adjusted by the skillfulness of the lineup submitted. If you choose to play 20 lineups or 1 lineup, your odds of winning for each lineup remains the same. Entering more lineups increases your variance while gives you more chances to win, but it does not increase your probability of winning.

The takeaway is to play the total number of lineups that you feel like playing, you should choose your exposure. It doesn’t matter if you submit one entry or 20, each entry has the same probability of winning modified by the skill of that lineup.

    Why no WNBA achievements?

We do not offer achievements for all sports, at this time we tend to focus on the sports that have the biggest impact on the community of players, allowing us to give back to the widest audience.

I think you whiffed on the point I was trying to make. I know in the “beginning” 20 entries is less than the standard 3% of the total entries but when it gets down to 50 and the MME guys have all 20 entries left it skews things and they can have up to 40% of the entries in the final round. You can’t tell me that doesn’t increase your probability of winning. I get you wouldn’t have been able to get the prize pool had it not been 20 entries but it was frustrating to see the same names with all their different lineups. Beating 30 lineups is a lot easier than beating 49 lineups, especially if you have a good core which seems likely considering they made it to the final. In the end I appreciate the contest I would just like it to be reduced to a 5 entry, 3 entry, or single entry contest. Thank you!

I must be an anal SOB on this.
As far as I know you did 1 $11 golf survivor that was maxed at 687 entries (which had over 590 entries) and you had several weeks of $111 contests with 68 maxed entries. It filled easily.

40% smaller??? by total payout maybe….Or by DK rake. Certainly not by a metric that I would consider.

Why is the top prize for the MLB Mini Spring Series Finale $20K? I think that’s the lowest top prize for a $5 to $20 150 entry GPP on a major slate that I’ve seen this season. That’s not very finale-esque. I’m going to be pissed off if I win $20K tonight because I had my big night on the time you pay out the least to the top spot.

Our $200K Mini Spring Series Finale has an intentionally flat structure. We get asked to offer flatter structures very frequently, when we feel its best for the ecosystem to give more back to players then we choose a flatter structure. Other times we want to offer a life changing opportunity, thats when we aim for the fences like in our milly makers.

I’m fine with the flatter structure but as a daily player I prefer consistency in contest offerings. If it’s top heavy every other day, I don’t want a random flat day.

if there is one thing we can guarantee, it is that we are intentionally not consistant. For clarity, we frequently offer top-heavy demand driving contests, but we are not “top heavy every other day”. There are in fact quite a diverse range of top prize percentages, this is by design so we can offer a little something for everyone.

PS: Today is not “a random day”, it is the finale of the Spring Series promotion!

I personally like this payout structure much more than the super top heavy ones like the millionaire makers. I would play this type of contest where I avoid the top heavy ones all together. I think it is a great thing that large contests now and then have a flater payout structure where you can win 10X for a top 0.5% finish instead of needing to be in the top 0.1%.

Today is some sort of special “finale”?? Why in the world did you size it so tiny? Seems to be just like any other day where every MLB tournament under $10 is sized way too small and is going to fill 2 hours early.

The contest in question is the last contest in a 4 day promotion called the Spring Series. If you draft the highest-scoring player at the specified position (today is Pitcher) then you get entry into a free contest the following night. The free contests pay out as cash as well as signed baseball memorabilia.

    https://www.draftkings.com/lp/2019-mlb-spring-series

In hindsight, we see what caused the confusion. The contest is called the $200K Mini Spring Series Finale because it is the last contest in this 4 day promotion – yet it is not a “special finale”. Lesson learned on our end, we will be a bit more cautious when using the word finale in the future since players often associate the word with having a big payout to 1st.

I was just taking my opportunity to use this tool we have to share my opinion on this particular contest and give my reasoning for having that opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Thank you for pointing out the issue, it helped our team realize that we can improve our nomenclature so we only use the word finale when the payout structure provides a proportionally bigger prize up top.

PS: Have a happy Memorial Day weekend!

    Enjoy the holiday!

Thank you for the response. It’s cool that DK answers questions on here and thanks for putting up with a lot of the crotchety griping on here.

I personally don’t care too much about the payout structure or # of max entries. The only thing I care about is that there is a $3- $12 contest with a high # of total entries. Like how PGA has the $5 contest every week that is aggressively sized is perfect in my opinion.
