Hello. I would like to know why you made up a rule in the middle of a baseball slate last night? The Washington game was postponed prior to lock. For some reason, DK decided to move the lock back for that game from it’s 7:05 lock to 10:10. No email was sent to indicate this.

When people asked customer service about it on Twitter, the only response they got was the same canned one.

This has definitely not been the rule in effect for prior slates. It also is not the rule in effect for other sports.

What was different about this particular slate that made you decide to implement a new rule in the middle of a slate? Why have you not done this in prior slates and sports? Will you be updating your rules to indicate what the actual current rules are?

You guys will be keeping both the 1pm and 4/4:25pm games on the main slate for NFL, right? I really don’t want to see that broken up.

Your wish is our intention at this time. We know that not everyone agrees, for example bigez952’s post above – but we feel it will benefit the majority of our players needs.

Is it possible to see what stadiums you still need for the ball park tour? I have been playing showdowns and yet I am still stuck on 21.

I’m pretty sure bigez952 is saying it’d be bad if the main slate were broken up into 1pm only or whatever. Which yeah, the main slate should be big. Not fun when you have to pick between 6 QBs and there’s 1 high end TE and a bunch of nobodies. I don’t have the guts for full slate most of the time, but the mini slates aren’t fun enough to be the main slate where there’s money to be made

To clarify I am in support of escot in wanting the main slate to include the 1pm and 4pm games. I didn’t like the SNF game being removed at first but after a few weeks came to really like that so the main slate is wrapped up before I go to bed. I wouldn’t want to see the main slate split up any further since I like 8+ games for the NFL.

yes, you just need to email dk support. they emailed me back with a list of ballparks I had completed already. so then I just had to figure out which ones I needed. I’m at 28/30.

Really excited to see the DraftKings partnership with the PGA Tour announced today. Do you have anymore info by what the scope of being able to see “real time video highlights of players in your respective lineups” will mean. That would be a game changer and a huge opportunity to change the way people watch golf tournaments if they can see more shots from players besides a select few.

It my opinion it looked very shady. I have never seen a lock get moved back due to a PPD, but DK kept insisting it did. It basically ruined the whole slate for me. I was scrambling to change most of my lineups while the uninformed people just sat back and then changed their lineups way after lock. I believe there was a fire in an NBA game in Mexico a few years ago and they didn’t move back the lock for that. There was also a water main break in Colorado as well.

How did I miss that one, the only Showdown that showed up for me today was TB, but needed the Tigers as well. Ugh. The response time was awesome after I posted, they emailed me which ones I already had and which ones I still needed within 30 minutes of asking my question.

We understand that there was some confusion about PPD that occured on Monday Night. We hope this post will help set the record straight, and answer any questions that may be lingering.

Hello. I would like to know why you made up a rule in the middle of a baseball slate last night? The Washington game was postponed prior to lock.

This has been normal practice for us dating back to the 2018 MLB season to move the start time of a PPD game to allow late swaps in affected Draft Groups (aka slate). Overall, we believe this to be a much better user experience and it is the right thing to do because we want to avoid limiting experiences whenever possible. When we revised the rules in 2018, this new process for addressing PPDs falls under an “avoidable zeros” philosophy of minimising ’dead’ lineups from our biggest locking main slates. Our policy benefits far more people than it penalizes, which means it is a net positive in the long run for the majority of players.

This policy is for MLB only, each sport has its own unique set of rules.

For some reason, DK decided to move the lock back for that game from it’s 7:05 lock to 10:10. No email was sent to indicate this.

We sent out emails to notify all affected users. If you did not receive the email, please check to make sure draftkings.com emails are not blocked in your email client. If you need help, please contact us at support@draftkings.com – we can lend a hand to point you in the right direction.

When people asked customer service about it on Twitter, the only response they got was the same canned one.

Twitter has a character limit of only 280 characters, the medium is not ideal for well thought out explanations that are easy to understand – our customer support team’s mission is efficiency so we can help as many customers as possible in as quick a time as possible. The response tweeted was correct, hopefully this post will further clarify.

The policy has been used before, this was not the first MLB contest that was affected. You are correct that this policy has not (yet) been used in other sports, it is exclusively for MLB at this time.

It my opinion it looked very shady. I have never seen a lock get moved back due to a PPD, but DK kept insisting it did.

We keep insisting because this has been our policy since the start of the 2018 MLB season, and this is not the first time we have moved the start time of a game due to a PPD in MLB.

It basically ruined the whole slate for me. I was scrambling to change most of my lineups while the uninformed people just sat back and then changed their lineups way after lock.

Can you explain in detail how you were negatively affected? Everyone was notified at the same time, our goal is to create a fair and equitable game experience for all. Your constructive feedback helps us understand the impact of our policies.

If a player had the opportunity to change their lineup, then they must have been informed, that’s why it would be helpful if you could further elaborate your concerns. We appreciate it!

I believe there was a fire in an NBA game in Mexico a few years ago and they didn’t move back the lock for that.

Different sports have different contest contest rules. MLB contest rules are not the same as NBA contest rules.

Did this actually happen? This would definitely call the integrity of said contest into question and an explanation is warranted.

Yes, it actually did happen, and it was the right decision to make as it allowed the integrity of the game to be maintained in accordance with the existing contest rules.

Let’s use an example, imagine a theoretical scenario where an MLB game is scheduled for 8:10 and lock is at 7:05. If this game is PPD at 7:45 what should occur?

If you selected players from the 8:10 game, then you would have up until 8:10 at the very least to swap players out. If our team is notified at 7:45 that the PPD is occuring (25 mins lead time is very reasonable), we would push back the lock of that game (like we did on Monday) to give contest entrants the time needed to swap out any players they would have taken from that 8:10 game.

We hope this post helps explain our thoughts, reasoning, and policies. We have nothing but good intentions, from the feedback we have seen there was some users who were very happy about the PPD decision, and other such as the posts above that were confused why it occurred.

We want everyone to know that your feedback is heard loud and clear, we appreciate the concern and your passion for the game! That is why we are looking into solutions that may help provide more explicit examples in the future to help clarify our good intentions.

    Not yet…. soon!

At this time we ask that everyone refer to the announcement, we have not released additional details other than what is stated in the press release. Everyone at DraftKings is really happy to see PGA fans so excited! https://about.draftkings.com/2019/07/23/draftkings-named-official-daily-fantasy-game-of-the-pga-tour/

We cannot take the credit alone – we figured out your DK username from your RG user profile. Why is this for MLB only? Withdrawals and PPD happen constantly in tennis yet all us tennis players are stuck with dead lineups when this happens. This rule seems to be isolated to a single sport and does affect the overall integrity of the game. One sport allows late changes for PPD whereas no other sport does? The walkover change in tennis helped, but not nearly enough. If the slate locks at 8a, and a match doesn’t start until 1p, why can’t I make changes up until that match starts for players who obviously aren’t on the court yet?

So every time a major leage baseball game has been postponed in 2019 (before that game locks), you guys have pushed back the lock on that game to the last possible time on that slate? If that is true I have 0 problem as long as its consistent.

I do think its a problem that I have played basically every day and had no clue that was the case. A rule like that shouldn’t be secret. Maybe put that info in the emails?

We have continued to evaluate additional solutions to the walkover issue. However, there are some roadblocks along the way. We are currently challenged by inconsistencies with start time accuracy for individual matches in Tennis – this is not the case in MLB. As mentioned before, each sport has its own unique set of rules.

Rest assured, we are exhausting all options available in order to make DraftKings Tennis the best experience possible.

We always move back the lock time of a postponed MOB game to allow for late swap if we have the advanced notice, such as what occurred on Monday. The rare exception would be if the scenario is out of our control, such as if the postponement was announced only minutes before lock where our team has no time to adjust.

We passed forward your ideas about improving email communication, thnx for the suggestion.

Any update on when the slate for the HOF game will be published?

Can you develop a way so we can name our lineups? Doesn’t have to show up when we view the contest, just on the lineups page. I think it would be a great way to get friends and family involved in DFS. You guys should make this happen 👍

  • bure10

Hey DK why is it necessary that when I enter or reserve a lineup you automatically put me to a recommended contests screen. Its not making me join those contests and taking away the user experience.

I tried to reserve 5 LUs into the 4$ Nascar but every time it too me to that screen and it took me twice as long to just reserve my contests. Really annoying and unecessary.

  • mtdurham

    Hey DK

Can you create a weekly NFL contest that is for $1 per entry and like $50-$100k, winner take all for first place?

I think it’d be cool as NFL is the sport where we all have a week to try to put together an “optimal lineup”.

At a $1 price point no one would care that they can “only” afford 20 entries vs the “pros” with 150 entries….. and literally anyone with any degree of work ethic or financial discipline could afford to max that contest if they so choose….. not everyone is in a position to max enter the Milly Maker… also this would be a fair contest to say anyone is allowed to enter it… no restrictions….

it would draw in tons of casual interest as well.. it markets itself…. and is easy to set up satellites/freerolls for or give away free entries as part of the daily rewards function….so you know the contest would always fill easily

  • thegeneral391

so DK when can we expect the NFL Achievements to be rolled out?
    anything planned for preseason?
