Checked my Achievements this morning to see the MLB HR Hunt isn’t something that stays tacked onto your MLB Achivements, as of this morning, those 1,500 crowns disappeared!!

I contacted DK Chat and they did say they will be giving everyone their crowns (within the next 24 hrs). Still, this should be displayed somewhere maybe directly on the HR Hunt achievements page while it was running.
Or better yet, just add/leave the crowns with the MLB achievements and have them expire at the end of the MLB season since they are for that sport (MLB). Pretty disappointed with that, if I had known it wouldn’t be something added onto the MLB achievements and available to save for the season, I probably wouldn’t have bothered for the 1,500 crowns.

I strongly disagree with the decision to auto redeem our HR Hunt FP

Just a little feedback on the cfl contests, I understand that the cfl contests shrink when nfl starts and it usually the time i stop playing cfl but it’s not because the nfl starts and I’m occupied with playing nfl, I stop because the contests shrink and it’s not worth it to put in the research for tiny prize pools, please stop doing this because cfl dfs is awesome and I was extremely happy with how dk treated the first 8 weeks of the season but it looses it’s appeal when these prize pools shrink.

DraftKings is a market, contest supply is completely dictated by predicted contest demand. Contests in any sport are sized based on the historical flow of entry liquidity tracked by our analysts. It is no secret that NFL is not only the most popular DFS football product we offer, but the most popular DFS sport entirely. Given that we offer 4 different DFS football products (NFL, CFB, CFL, AFL), most of which with overlapping schedules, the more popular sports (NFL) usually borrows liquidity that is otherwise used to build the prize pools for the smaller sports (CFL, CFB, AFL). When the demand shifts, the supply follows.

We want to keep CFL as strong as we possibly can for as long as we can – but we cannot do it alone. We need players like you to keep playing CFL, show your support and love of the game. The more players who remain interested, the greater the probability that we can maintain CFL entry liquidity.

Can we get late swaps implemented in tennis.

We have continued to work to make DK tennis the best experience possible. We are committed to exploring creative approaches to work through these obstacles but that does not guarantee we will find a solution that will meet the needs of all players any time soon. In the meantime, our recent scoring changes are a huge improvement – but we will not rest there, over time you can expect to see more Tennis improvements.

I have another question about the deposit bonus, regarding the play-thru requirement. Let’s say I deposit $50, how much do I have to play before the end of the year in order to get the bonus

bigez952 is correct, for many users in order to claim the full $10 bonus cash on a $50 deposit, you must play through $250 ($1 for every $25 played). It is possible that your Deposit Bonus may be different, please visit https://www.draftkings.com/deposit-bonus for your specific details.

Yep. Do it DK! EPL achievements please! MMA too!

We are in a constant process of evaluating opportunities to expand our rewards programs into different sports. The higher the demand for the sport grows, the more likely it is you will see rewards offered for that sport in the future. In the coming year we are exploring opportunities to rebalance our Achievements to further expand across the top 10 sports, we hear your voice loud and clear!

    Thank you

No, thank you! None of this is possible without the support of our loyal DraftKings community.

I contacted DK Chat and they did say they will be giving everyone their crowns (within the next 24 hrs).

Normally achievements expire 30 days after the promotion concludes. Since this was the first time DraftKings has offered a mid-season Achievement, we have taken the initiative to do something special for everyone who participated – we have automatically credited your account with the crowns you have earned as our way of saying we love you all!

If you participated in the Home Run Hunt Achievement and did not see your account credited with the crowns you earned, then please reach out to support@draftkings.com – our team of support experts are standing by to help!

    12 Days until College Football

Woohooo!!! Speaking of College Football, we‘ve made some Multi-Entry changes this season for both College Football and College Basketball.

    Last Season
    1 – 10 seats = 1 entry max
    11 – 29 seats = 2 entries max
    30 – 60 seats = 3 entries max
    61 – 95 seats = 4 entries max
    96 – 133 seats = 5 entries max
    134 – 199 seats = 6 entries max
    200+ seats = ** 3% Rule

    This Season
    1 – 12 seats = 1 entries max
    13 – 36 seats = 2 entries max
    37 – 100 seats = 3 entries max
    101+ seats = ** 3% entries max

    3% Rule: _Max Entries = # of seats * .03 (rounded down)

How many Milestones are there and what are the criteria for each Milestone? If this is top secret or unknown for some reason, just give out what is needed to reach say, Milestone 6? Don’t really see a reason to not provide this information?

Worry not, jayzee666, these milestones are not top secret. The milestones & corresponding milestone criteria for each PGA Achievement can be found on the FAQs page here: https://www.draftkings.com/achievements-faq#pga

For transparency, here are the milestones & criteria for the Cut Maker:

Cut Maker – Total paid PGA lineups with all six golfers making the cut

    Milestone 1: 1 Lineups – 25 Crowns
    Milestone 2: 5 Lineups – 85 Crowns
    Milestone 3: 10 Lineups – 150 Crowns
    Milestone 4: 15 Lineups – 200 Crowns
    Milestone 5: 30 Lineups – 400 Crowns
    Milestone 6: 65 Lineups – 800 Crowns
    Milestone 7: 200 Lineups – 2,800 Crowns
    Milestone 8: 400 Lineups – 4,200 Crowns
Super Milestones – Milestones 8+ to be revealed after you accumulate 400 lineups where all six golfers made the cut.

Why is DK pushing Low Ball all of sudden in Tiers? Bring back the normal Tiers.

Our contest management team likes to mix things up a little bit during the middle of the season, this year we decided to bring back Lowball for a limited time frame. The traditional Tiers game style will return tomorrow.

MLB Playoff baseball – can you please bring back the old Showdown format? It’s such a crap shoot with the CPT spot.

Overall, players have been overwhelmingly supportive of the Showdown Captain Mode.

We are constantly looking to enhance the sweat of DFS, if the game is stale, we aren’t doing our job. The DFS ecosystem is continuously evolving, and product innovation drives us forward. The introduction of Showdown Captain Mode in MLB has decreased the frequency of ties, while improving scoring. We see this as a benefit, not a burden, to the players who have overwhelmingly requested and supported the Captain position in Showdown contests across multiple sports.

What is it you don’t like about Showdown Captain Mode? Maybe your fellow players in this thread can help explain why they love the Captain position?

The showdown captain mode just makes it so much more of a crapshoot.

MLB playoffs we know that manager have short leases for pitchers, takes a bit more skill to realize who the managers like in that series.

Would like to hear other peoples thoughts.

i love captain mode for NBA and NFL, but it made baseball totally unplayable for me. It really took all the fun out of it so I just didn’t play it at all…, and i used to love to play it.

It went from a game of strategy to a roulette wheel spin.

I can’t help with any positive comments about the Captain Mode as there is absolutely nothing that I like about it, but as someone who plays the MLB Showdown format almost exclusively when it comes to DFS, I’ll echo some other comments here and add some more thoughts of my own on what I don’t like about it. I don’t like the increased variance, but what I REALLY don’t like about it is the simple fact that I play DFS to make watching/sweating games more fun. You pick the team with the players you like and think are going to do well, then watch the game and root for those players to do well. With the captain slot, most of the time you end up rooting AGAINST most of the players on your own team. It’s frustrating and makes it not fun to sweat the games. Last night was a great example. In the AZ/COL Showdown, my best team was in 5th place in a GPP in the top of the 9th. One of the players on that team comes up to bat (Christian Walker). I’m pulling for him to do something and get me some more points, and sure enough he knocks a single. I think it’s great, and check to see how much it bumped me up as I knew I was only 3 points out of 1st. No luck for me, I passed a few people who were ahead of me, but ended up down to 6th place (and with multiple chops this time) because other people had him as CAPT. Obviously there have been other times where the CAPT slot has helped me gain spots/money in situations like that, but regardless of the outcome, the point is the large negative effect this has on the sweat/watching experience. Also FWIW, you say there are less ties and I certainly believe that is what the aggregate data is saying, but in my small and individual experience I’m ending up with way more duplicate lineups than I did last season.

How much less I enjoy the game is clearly showing in my volume. I put in over $14k in MLB Showdown entry fees between 7/1/18 and the end of the 2018 playoffs. I’m only at about $5k in Showdown entry fees so far this season, and my daily play amount is dropping rather than increasing over the course of the year, the opposite of last season for me. My ROI is still pretty solid overall and I have taken down one large GPP, so I’m not being discouraged by losing, it is just that it’s not as much fun to play/watch, plain and simple. I can also tell based on how much less I’m watching the games. I’m a big Red Sox fan and I watch the Sox game just about every day. Last year was awesome because the Sox game would start at 7, I could make some teams for the west coast Showdown game on my phone while I watched, and then when the Sox game ended around 10:30 or so I could flip over and watch the Showdown game for as long as I was in contention. Day games were even better, I could take a little break at work to make some teams in the morning and then have the game on TV in the background while I worked in the afternoon. This season for the most part I have stopped watching the Showdown games after spending April being bored and frustrated. Last night I was following along in the MLB at bat app for the last few innings while I watched regular TV since I was doing well, but wasn’t interested to actually watch the game at any point. Outside of the Sox games, this season I’ve had more fun to just watching random games with a good matchup than watching the Showdown games I put money on.

As some other folks have said, the addition of the CAPT slot and changes to the RP scoring made it way less skill-based and way more of a crapshoot/scratch-off so while last year it was fascinating to watch your strategy/game theory play out (and immensely satisfying when you were right), this year it just sucks to sit around rooting for the guys you picked to not do well and hoping you end up lucky at the end. Even the GPP I won still wasn’t a fun sweat. I’ve had a lot of winning nights this season, but it just feels different when instead of following the game pitch-by-pitch, you just check your phone when it’s over and be like ‘oh cool, the back-up shortstop hit a home run off a position-player reliever in the 8th so I won some money’. As I’ve watched the Sox playoff hopes for this season melt away it is especially disappointing as without my team in the mix, playing DFS is the best way to make the playoffs exciting.

I’m hoping very much that as you say, you don’t let this format become stale and make more changes to the game/format in the future. If last season’s rules were stale after one season, I very much hope that these rules also go just as stale after 2019 and we have a totally revamped set of rules for 2020. I would be thrilled with a revert to the old rules (especially for the playoffs) and would immediately start putting in 5-10x as much volume. I might go as much as $1000 per playoff game (and Sunday night game) if the old rules went back into effect. I don’t really expect that to happen, and I also would be very enthusiastic about about other changes to the format and would be very interested to analyze them and see if they benefited either my winning/ROI and/or enhanced my watching experience. In the meantime, I am unhappy enough with the current format that I am actively looking for a new site to play on, and the minute I find one that offers single-game MLB GPPs with a better scoring format I will instantly withdraw my entire bankroll and move all of my action there. Unfortunately for me alternatives are slim, FD’s format is significantly worse than yours and no one else seems to offer single game MLB (yet) so I’m still all in on DK for now.

I have some more nitpicky and specific complains but it kinda feels like this rant is already long and whiny enough. Thanks for taking the time to chat with all of us in the forums, even if mostly we just complain about stuff. With as many negative comments/opinions as I have on the Showdown format, it’s still the best thing going in DFS imo and I’m glad to have it. It is certainly better than nothing, and I hope that if/when I conclude that it isn’t that I will have the will power to not play. I think I will.

  • Zwett

Also with CPT MLB Showdown – like humanash (I think said, it was a long post), you think you are rooting for a player and then all of sudden somehow you move down. It’s like you no idea. Not even fun. My volume is way down in showdowns.

I think for the common player – they don’t care the format. But for people who play more they prefer the no cpt spot MLB.

  • lpdev

I played quite a bit in MLB showdowns last year. Max entering the $5 to $10 150 entry contests most of the time they were offered. Liked the old format. Haven’t played any this year. Bring the good version of MLB showdown back!

yeah its because there are so many fewer lineups that make any sense now in showdown…. anyone using logic to pick a lineup only has so many options now and they burned the value of relief pitchers which is what skilled players use to differentiate their lineups.

I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know I’m sure. Just trying to further articulate your point that Captain – Showdown mode for baseball was a really bad idea that has failed. It ruined the format and it took me literally 3-4 days of playing to decide I was out for the rest of the season despite the fact that I played it virtually every single day last year (with MANY lineups)… in fact i just put one lineup in tonight for the first time since the first week of the season out of sheer boredom and am already regretting it after reading your summary lol…like this lineup is most likely to be dead after 2 innings, duplicated if in contention, and ill spend the back half of the game rooting against most of the hitters i picked because…

If a guy hits a 3 run home run in the 2nd inning and he’s not your captain you might as well turn the game off, you aren’t cashing. Really waters down the entire experience as the splash plays are too huge in baseball and there’s no coming back.

In football a 3rd string TE could catch a 40 yard TD pass on the third play of the game and not even end up in the winning lineup if the game had enough action. That’s basically impossible in baseball unless there are like 15 home runs hit.

Showdown should provide an experience where the action INTENSIFIES as the game goes along… like the money should be on the line towards the end of the game… in this format everything is dead and buried by the 2nd inning. All that’s left is the crying. No reason to actually watch the game… which is the entire reason i enjoy showdown in the first place…

Couldn’t agree more with what seems to be the consensus, at least here… over course of last season really started to enjoy showdown mode… this season lost interest in it right away … removing relief pitchers also had a lot to do with my loss of interest in it

Obviously we’re on the same page, but this comment resonates with me especially. I feel like last year’s format really achieved that and that is why is was so much fun to play showdowns and watch the showdown games.

Wish it could at least be like NBA was a few years ago with the late swaps and have both options available simultaneously. Obviously folks like us would pick the old format, but I could see a decent amount of casual players liking our way better too after 2/3 of a season of experiencing the frustrations caused by the Captain slot.

The showdown captain mode just makes it so much more of a crapshoot.

We appreciate everyone’s opinions, these are important data points we will reference as we evaluate the performance of Showdown Captain Mode come the end of the MLB season. We want you all to know that your voices have been heard loud and clear, and that we are already analyzing data to help us further improve MLB Showdown.

Although we are limited in the adjustments that can be made mid-season, we will continue to evaluate, learn, and improve for next season & beyond.

Not yet, we ask for your patience as we await regulatory guidance. Until then, the timeline is unclear.

    Noooooo!!!
They already have .25 contests with >9K players, even on 2 game slates!!
Thankfully they create a lot of these dime contests throughout the day so you should be able of them. It is almost impossible for me to get near the cash line on the 1K contests, let alone these mega entry contests!

They should actually offer a few dime contests with tons of entries but keep the current number of dime contests with 1189 contestants, this would make everyone happy. This is the most logical choice but I think doing that freaks out the software engineers, unless they are creating Satellites, which have no limits!!

As we have mentioned before, the players in our ecosystem have a range of conflicting opinions on the same topic. Although we try and try again to make everyone happy, certain choices are welcomed by some users, while others are met with resistance – its a matter of personal preference.

In the case of contest-sizing, one element always remains the same; the supply meets the demand. Our lobby team spends much of their time analyzing data upon the conclusion of every single slate we post. We are constantly adjusting and re-forecasting in response to the flow of liquidity in the ecosystem. If there is an excess of demand for dime contests compared to our projections, we adjust the supply. If liquidity shifts in favor of Showdown contests, we increase the number of Showdown contests to meet the demand.

This can also be described as a simple case of cause and effect. Our contest offerings are an effect of a cause, with the cause being the flow of liquidity (demand).

Let’s get back on focus though, you asked about the Dime Time! this is a contest that is intended to churn in our lobby every time it fills, so that there’s always something for users to play for 10 cents. A side effect of this strategy is that it allows us to keep our focus on promoting $.25 and $.50 featured contests. Of course there are always exceptions, but this is generally how we approach MLB $.10 contests – we intentionally let them churn.

All showdown slates should have a CPT spot for every sport.

We’ve heard conflicting opinions from some of your fellow community members in this thread. Care to share with us why you believe Showdown Captain Mode is so great? If we can’t convince them ourselves, maybe you can? We agree, our data shows that MLB Captain Mode has been successful plus it helps unify the player experience across multiple sports for Showdown fans.
