Showdown should provide an experience where the action INTENSIFIES as the game goes along…

Obviously we’re on the same page, but this comment resonates with me especially. I feel like last year’s format really achieved that and that is why is was so much fun to play showdowns and watch the showdown games.

Wish it could at least be like NBA was a few years ago with the late swaps and have both options available simultaneously. Obviously folks like us would pick the old format, but I could see a decent amount of casual players liking our way better too after 2/3 of a season of experiencing the frustrations caused by the Captain slot.

The showdown captain mode just makes it so much more of a crapshoot.

We appreciate everyone’s opinions, these are important data points we will reference as we evaluate the performance of Showdown Captain Mode come the end of the MLB season. We want you all to know that your voices have been heard loud and clear, and that we are already analyzing data to help us further improve MLB Showdown.

Although we are limited in the adjustments that can be made mid-season, we will continue to evaluate, learn, and improve for next season & beyond.

When can Iowans play on DraftKings now that daily fantasy has been legalized?

Not yet, we ask for your patience as we await regulatory guidance. Until then, the timeline is unclear.

every day the MLB dime time fills about 20 times

why can’t it ever be made larger than 1189?

    Noooooo!!!
They already have .25 contests with >9K players, even on 2 game slates!!
Thankfully they create a lot of these dime contests throughout the day so you should be able of them. It is almost impossible for me to get near the cash line on the 1K contests, let alone these mega entry contests!

They should actually offer a few dime contests with tons of entries but keep the current number of dime contests with 1189 contestants, this would make everyone happy. This is the most logical choice but I think doing that freaks out the software engineers, unless they are creating Satellites, which have no limits!!

All showdown slates should have a CPT spot for every sport.

As we have mentioned before, the players in our ecosystem have a range of conflicting opinions on the same topic. Although we try and try again to make everyone happy, certain choices are welcomed by some users, while others are met with resistance – its a matter of personal preference.

In the case of contest-sizing, one element always remains the same; the supply meets the demand. Our lobby team spends much of their time analyzing data upon the conclusion of every single slate we post. We are constantly adjusting and re-forecasting in response to the flow of liquidity in the ecosystem. If there is an excess of demand for dime contests compared to our projections, we adjust the supply. If liquidity shifts in favor of Showdown contests, we increase the number of Showdown contests to meet the demand.

This can also be described as a simple case of cause and effect. Our contest offerings are an effect of a cause, with the cause being the flow of liquidity (demand).

Let’s get back on focus though, you asked about the Dime Time! this is a contest that is intended to churn in our lobby every time it fills, so that there’s always something for users to play for 10 cents. A side effect of this strategy is that it allows us to keep our focus on promoting $.25 and $.50 featured contests. Of course there are always exceptions, but this is generally how we approach MLB $.10 contests – we intentionally let them churn.

All showdown slates should have a CPT spot for every sport.

We’ve heard conflicting opinions from some of your fellow community members in this thread. Care to share with us why you believe Showdown Captain Mode is so great? If we can’t convince them ourselves, maybe you can? We agree, our data shows that MLB Captain Mode has been successful plus it helps unify the player experience across multiple sports for Showdown fans.

And now, we would like to take this moment to share some breaking news: NFL ACHIEVEMENTS ARE HERE!

I just saw on the news that the Draft Kings sports betting room is opening on Friday at noon at Del Lago resort here in western NY. Is sports betting now legal in NY and on the DK app?

It is true that the DraftKings retail Sportsbook at Del Lago Casino Resort is scheduled open this Friday. Located just outside of Syracuse, this will be our third retail location and first in the great State of New York.

At this time online sportsbook is not available in New York, if that changes in the future then we will have something to talk about!

What was the thought process behind the NFL achievements? There are three (Big Play Beast, Donut Shop, Bargain Hunter) that essentially rely on luck. I enjoyed the achievements that rewarded playing the different types of games offered (Tiers/Showdown/In-Game Showdown, etc) along with ones that rewarded value to increase my desire to put in multiple entries into GPPs. Only the Touchdown Machine achievement rewards volume entries.

I am sure this has to do with NFL being the most popular sport and not needing to have valuable achievements to entice players to play. I am disappointed in the offerings this year though and hope it improves for NBA season.

NBA achievements will probably be a lot more juicy because there’s a lot less casual interest 3 months into the season but these achievements really don’t feel like they’ll be fun. When it comes down to needing extreme volume and luck to get these low-probability achievements, you’ll probably have more people that’ll give up on them than feel motivated to add that extra entry or two. As “boring” as volume achievements are, they’re a much more accessible bar to reach.

  • TheRealJosh5

NBA, MLB achievements have been fun this past year. NFL one this season is pretty lame.

Achievements are designed to appeal to all players to give back and reward them for remaining active and engaged in the DraftKings DFS ecosystem. The milestones allow the Achievements to appeal to the needs of casual and extremely active players alike, providing a little something for everyone in a fair and equitable manner.

You said you like Achievements that encourage you to play different types of games offered. Completing the Fantasy Football Ironman Achievement requires you to play all 48 Days, which means some non-classic contests may need to be included – Showdown contests will help make that easier. We also want you to know that we debated offering an Achievement for In-Game Showdown, but this innovative new format is not yet available in all states. Maybe in the future… time will tell!

NBA, MLB achievements have been fun this past year. NFL one this season is pretty lame.

NFL is 17 weeks, therefore the Achievements are scaled accordingly. NBA is a long season, and the Achievements that can be earned are reflected in the fact that there are more games. As a point of reference, the most recent NBA Iron Man was more that 3x more rewarding than the NFL Iron Man. Seems logical to us – players are rewarded more when they play more.

I feel like the level of activity can be reflected in volume achievements. If you need x amount of passing yards for each milestone, players that play more will be able to reach the deepest milestones while players that play less won’t reach as far. The “meh” part of the achievements like Big Play Beast, Donut Shop, and Bargain Hunter is that they aren’t something you can really work towards if you don’t hit the specific guideline. If you need something like 2000 TDs, every TD along the way counts. If you need players to have 90 yard plays, it’s a binary outcome. Either you hit it or you don’t. If I maxed out a 150 entry contest and no player had that specific outcome, my volume of play wouldn’t be reflected by achievements. Which kinda stinks. “Volume” achievements should be things that you have more completion for more volume, not just more chances to hit a specific rare outcome.

Totally agree. These achievements aren’t motivating me to play more, but volume stats do a better job. There’s still time to change it though. The more people who comment on it the better chance of a change I would think.

  • rannas23

I agree with smallchimp also…should be more statistical volume based such as touchdowns, rushing yards, receiving yards, receptions…..these are the actions we enjoy watching on gameday and can be correlated to achievements at the same time. In fact I wish there were more in the other sports, golf would love to see an Eagle achievement to go with your birdie achievements….don’t take away your birdie achievements though. MLB what about hits or runs or even throw in a pitcher achievement for strikeouts or wins. I think these kind of achievements keeps people interested.

  • Clivene09

I was looking forward to seeing what this years NFL achievements would be, and figure out my course of attack for them. Honestly, what I see has reversed my direction, and I am not even going to give them more than the rare check in to see if there are any to collect. I don’t think I will even concern myself with the Ironman achievement as the reward does seem worth it to me to enter contests I would normally skip. So I will probably just treat DK the same way I do FD and not even give much consideration to it’s loyalty program.

  • texasboss302

Yup. Knowing that I need 10000 yards to meet a milestone is going to make me want to max out a few contests so I know that I’ll hit the threshold. Trying to bink a 90+ yard play or get a defense that shuts out its opponent makes me have the “eh, if it happens it happens” attitude because I know that volume of play isn’t being awarded; luck is. And not to mention the Bargain Hunter is nearly entirely slate dependent—if there’s not a high end value play, you won’t be able to work towards it. Yardage, points scored, receptions, rushes, etc. are things that you can actually grind out.

This one bothers me. After you put up 250 TDs in paid entries, CONGRATULATIONS, your reward is… four cents!!!

Why is this even on there?
