With this ruling I wonder how many people will go back to shady bookies and illegal underground lounges were people are at risk to get robbed, beat up or even killed.

If you are going to put yourself at risk in order to gamble on sports than you need to call 1-800-Gambler. Just sayin.

Bombarding TV screens with ads was rough, but letting employees play on other sites was the killer. That’s similar to insider trading.

With that said, what’s done is done. Now what?

On the plus side, I was just about to order NBA League Pass now I might save a few bucks on that.
And I’ll probably have another 10 hours a week to do something else.

On the negative side, I really enjoyed playing and my current strategy seemed to be working better than anything else I had been doing before. Oh and I have about $350 in my account. Is that money going to be frozen?

I would guess DFS is dead man walking. NYC leading the way out is huge.

Your money is safe. FD and DK will fight this in court. They may even keep operating games while the legal battle plays out – we may hear more on that tomorrow.

the damned commercials…..what happened with the damned commercials????

Was it the money coming in that made DK and FD feel invincible to the point that they could run more ads than viagra and cialis combined?

When do you think the NY AG first heard about Daily Fantasy Sports? The player % ownership scandal?

  • trp1975

From the state that led the way on seatbelt laws, smoking bans, trans fat bans etc, New York is generally the tip of sword. Hope is not a strategy. Hoping that DK and FD planned ahead is putting YOUR money at risk. These clowns have been REactive, not PROactive (unless you count commercials). Plan accordingly.

FD should move to the Silicon Valley!

i think the important issue that the states will have trouble fighting is that they allowed fantasy yearly leagues for years how can they now say that fantasy sports are now illegal. just because you can win a cash prize?? i think dfs will win this fight

  • deejones49

DK needs to take a stand here

  • slashtc

Wish them luck. They are going to need it. If NY falls permanently, the sites are in some trouble even if every other state stays legal. A little less greed would have gone a long way for them.

I dont know about you guys but I am really aggravated by this. I play DFS daily. I have been profitable in NFL and NBA but took my licks in MLB. I know this conference is meant to be fun hangout have a few drinks and mingle. But NYS is the DFS hub in my opinion is DF industry is in big trouble. The AG Can just wave a pen and make something that we as adults choose to do illegal just because he redefined the wording is bullcrap. I am not participating in Conf but I would definitely support you guys if we all decided to jump on the train for the 10 min ride to the US Office on Broadway and show our displeasure for a hour or so. I am not saying we should get locked up or anything :) but just let them know we care. I am sure there are few hundred people attending..just a thought

I just withdrew all my money from Wall Street. I will no longer be doing any gambling in New York.

Lol, the irony of calling for less greed when Wall Street is THE economic engine of NY.

I dont understand how if you take down dfs how you allow season long to stay. The only difference is the time frame. All sites that charge for season long as their rake should be forced to cease and desist as well. You cant cherry pick. This guy has no spine and hope dk and fd take all their advertising dollars to fight this and make sure this egomaniac never gets reelected. Embarrassing how this country has no common sense sometimes. To have a federal allow it and to them allow states to have 50 different opinions on it shows everything that is wrong with this country.

  • Steroid

If you guys read the C&D order, you will see how they make the distinction between daily and season long. One of the big ones is how the operators DK and FD make their profit from the players, where season long like traditional Yahoo! or ESPN make their money from advertisers, not the players.

  • dingdangdong

So I guess the money New York has collected in tax revenue is illegal? It’s been legal for years and now it’s deemed otherwise?

  • Olivpinc

At this moment as a resident of NY you can still participate on website like yahoo, draftspot, fantasy aces etc…….. ?

On a side note which web site now not including DK or FD has the largest payout ?? I would assume out of all the DFS websites that a NY resident can still play on (if this is true or not) The biggest beneficiary from this cease and desist would be Yahoo they probably just automatically gained 500,000 NY DFS entires ?
