On the NBA championship page there’s info that mentions hockey so its safe to assume it will be similar to last season’s event which was a joint NBA / NHL final.

So if you don’t want to look one could assume San Diego from March 16-21.

Crazy rake or not, kind of cool that they are at least starting with some accessible price points for Q’s. For $5 and $20 (and $3 tonight) I will still toss a couple darts for the sweat.

I like the pay structure for the tourney too, glad they didn’t do a 200-250k for first type deal.

Crazy that the rake is the same considering the tournament is 1/8th size in terms of prize pool…

Its the same trip as the NBA everyone gets 5 days that is what I assume the rake is $5,500 for everyone hotel, food, and side trips will be the same cost.

I don’t think anyone is refuting that the costs will be the same, it’s that as a percentage of the total value, it’s obviously way higher than NBA.

I guess it just kind of equates to:

You are qualifying in part to win a nice trip to San Diego at the expense of a larger prize pool.

Right? I’m especially curious how to get the “2015 DK NHL Fi” tag. That one sounds the most exciting.

I honestly don’t remember how I got it… I don’t think I could add it myself, but that someone at RG (maybe @RRT) did it for me.

WRT the “rake” of the event, I can vouch for DraftKings that they put on a top flight event. Last year’s event was $8,000+$5,500 if I remember correctly, and considering the accommodations, all the VIP events, clubs, Lamborghini driving and dinners they paid for, not to mention free food and free booze at your beck and call the entire time down there, they spent well over $5,500 on my friends and I; well over.

There is nothing taken out of the live final, the $5,500 trip value is $1,000 cash for airfare/transportation + $4.5k for everything else that makes up the trip. As others have pointed out we certainly do our best to make sure that everyone gets their moneys worth out of our live finals and this event will be no different. It’s truly a 4 days long non stop fantasy party during arguably the best sports weekend of the year.

Bigger concern for me than the rake is that they may end up skewing heavily towards the $1,000 Q’s since those are the most reliable to fill. :-(

We offer lots of satellites to the $1,000 Q’s. So instead of having to win 1 big contest you can win 2 smaller ones. It’s the same overall return for you just spread out over 2 days. We saw a lot of people in other sports qualify for $3-$27 through the $1,000 track so it’s still achievable for the average player.

I didn’t see this in the terms. But if you win a seat in the finals do you have to attend? Or can you send a friend or play from home?

We do allow for a surrogate if necessary but as always would prefer all finalists attend!

This seems to imply that you are, in fact, not going to run many of the $5 and $20 Q’s that the announcement page suggests. Bummer.
