I proposed this in the 1/13 thread and it seems like many of you would wish to partake in it.

For those of you who didn’t see it, what I propose is a H2H tournament on DraftKings, each round being a best of 7 series. Think Stanley Cup Playoffs meets March Madness. DraftKings would not formally organize this, so it would have to be run through this thread. I’m not sure what would determine the seeding? I would be inclined to suggest Rotogrinders rankings but it would be unfair to unranked cash game players, who would likely take a cotton to this idea.

This would be mostly for bragging rights but how much is put on each game is up to you and your competitor.

If there is enough interest, I would take it upon myself to create a bracket, in one of my graphic design programs or appropriate some March Madness bracket (or whatever).

I’d like to get a head count so please respond here even if you already expressed interest last night.

Damn, would’ve opened this sooner had I known it was a hockey tourney. Looks like a fun idea – interested in the next running of this assuming this one goes smoothly.

  • fandjinbkalltheway

Fun idea for seeding would be to ask DK or create a private free roll yourself with everybody who is in the tournament entered. Wherever you finish is your seed and then highest plays lowest etc…

Sheesh, an innocent joke is trolling now.

This might be the most humorless place on the internet, and I frequent a Hitler Relative Support Forum.

(psssst that was a joke as well)

Why not just make it an eliminator pool using 50/50s?

32 teams. Play like 5 slates. Top 16 cumulative scores advance.

Play X slates. Top 8 advance.

Play X slates. Top 4 advance.

    1 plays 4, 2 plays 3. Best of 7.

Winners advance to play for the Cup, best of 7.

    Because March Madness, frozen!

Sorry I’ve been absent from this thread.

It doesn’t seem right limiting this competition to just 32 teams since there is so much interest. I just don’t know what the best way of doing this would be?

Would there be a single contest with as many teams as there are in the tournament (as maxeernst proposed on the previous page)? Would this nightly (determining) contest be free, instead all the money would be in the pre-tournament buy-in, to be collected in some way?

I realized LeagueSafe will not work for this. They collect money for season long leagues and don’t allow for the dispersal of it until the end of a fantasy season. Like the money for this wouldn’t be released until April if we were to use them. Come to think of it, I am not even sure if we could use them this late in the season. So if there is to be some sort of buy-in the money will need to be collected in some other way.

Candidly, I wouldn’t be averse to playing each opponent H2H on DraftKings. It takes a bit more to organize but at least this would allow for greater flexibility from the money standpoint, as this tourney would comprise big and small players alike. Two small players could decide to play their games at petty stakes, while two big rollers could, at their discretion, decide to play for a lot more.

If there are any spots available I would like to join in? or if it morphs into something else i.e league or something along those lines.
Is this something Rotogrinders could track on their website? i.e. the H2H bracket? might be a silly question but I thought I would ask.

I run these tournaments quite often on Fanduel. You use PayPal for the entry fee. You use http://challonge.com for the bracket. Here’s an example of my last one: http://challonge.com/GuruNBAClassic The guy who is running the league creates a 3-Man Game for each head to head. That way you get the results right away to enter into the bracket.

64-Man Double Elimination is the best.

And your head to heads are free, so no rake. You would do for example a $10 entry fee. We all send to GoldenGoat. He then pays us out at the end of the tournament.
