Today the United States Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA). This decision legalizes sports betting – and it’s great news for sports fans. DraftKings believes life is more fun when you have skin in the game, so we’d like to share what today’s news means for you, our valued customers.

Since DraftKings was founded in 2012, our mission has been to bring fans closer to the games they love. Today’s ruling will allow us to further drive fan engagement by harnessing our proven technology to provide you with an innovative online sports betting product.

DraftKings is uniquely positioned to succeed in this dynamic, new market. We are the world’s largest daily fantasy sports platform with almost 10 million users. As an American company, we have a unique, authentic understanding of American sports fans, and already have strong relationships with professional leagues and teams.

So, when can you expect to place a wager through DraftKings? The timing will depend on when individual states move to pass the necessary legislation and set up the regulatory framework that will allow online sports betting. We’re hopeful states will move quickly, but lawmakers need to hear directly from fans like you. You can take action right now by using our tool to contact your lawmakers.

Even with today’s announcement, DraftKings remains fully committed to daily fantasy sports, which will continue to be a major focus for the company. In fact, sports betting and DFS already co-exist in many parts of the world. This powerful combination, combined with live streaming sports and original content, will position DraftKings – The Game Inside The Game – at the center of your fan experience. To celebrate with us, play tonight in the NBA $10K Celebration Free Contest.

As always, we’ll keep you in the loop every step of the way, so be on the lookout for updates. For now, this is a huge win for sports fans everywhere and we’re excited for another opportunity to bring our fans closer to the games they love.

So does this mean lower rake on your DFS offerings? Surely, you guys will become profitable with this new addition to your revenue stream right?

I live here in Nevada and I for one want to see Draftkings back in this state. Your site has stated it will move into states that pass legislation for sports betting. Well we are here already. It is my understanding Nevada never banned DFS they just wanted to license the sites. I for one see the landscape as change dramatically. Now going for a license in Nevada does not pose the same risks it did in the past. When can we expect to see you apply and get into the sports betting as well as bring back DFS to the state. I surely can’t be alone is saying get on the ball and work this out. It is time to get back into Nevada

I thought DFS exists based on in 2006 you could no longer play online poker because the feds shut down Poker Stars and Full Tilt who was a ponzi scheme. Plus they blocked you from using your bank to fund your account? Now fast forward to 2018 and suddenly gamblings back!!! all is forgivin? Can DFS and placing a $20 over under bet in the NFL on Sunday co exist?

If Draft Kings gets 20 states to allow you to gamble online in your underwear, will it be enough people for DK to be thrilled with profit? I would like to be happy about this change, but right now something is still holding me back.

The smart people will continue betting offshore. Have fun beating Draftkings/Fanduel 20cent lines.

I know this is nit-picky, but as soon as I read this sentence when I got the email, I really wished it was that DFS “will continue to be THE major focus for the company.”

I’m not as excited as others are about all this.

Even 20 cent lines would be less costly betting offshore that involves cost to get your money back or even send money offshore. Add that to the shady sites that might not even give you your money back. Once states start to take action offshore is dead. You would have to be an idiot to use those site with the cost and risk involved.

Just reading this thread for the first time, and that was exactly my reaction to reading the post at the top. I read your comment when I went to post that very concern in fact.
