So today I decided to make an account and deposit into DraftKings; deposit went well (I used a friends card because my bank doesn’t allow it) and I created a bunch of H2H lineups. About an hour later I got a message my account was locked pending verification and all my contests were cancelled. I went through their “Knowledge Based Authentication” and it said my account was successfully verified, however, I still can’t make any tournaments. I emailed DK and got an automated response, I sent them a scan of my friends card and license so they know it’s a legit purchase, but I’m not sure what else to do.

Live chat isnt available and I’m worried I’m going to be stuck waiting for them. Does anyone have any contacts at DK, another email, or a phone number etc?

i would stick it out with support. they probably locked your account because the name on your payment (your friend’s) didnt match the name on the account (yours)

  • HammysWorld

    Still nothing :(

Something about depositing money from a persons card to an account with a different name doesnt seem right. Could be 100% “legal” per DK, Im just thinking ‘out loud’, but think about that for a second. How can DK really know that the card isn’t stolen, or if you withdraw money and it goes back to the card that the cardholder will pay you back, etc etc i cant see this scenario ending good for you.

Can you set up a paypal account?

Lots of people do this and I’ve done it on other sites fine, typically they require you to send scans of the card and/or license to ensure you have the physical card and not some stolen number you found on the internet.

This is why regulation needs to be better within the industry. For all DK knows, is you are playing with your profile and your friend is 17 years old whom is giving you money to deposit with.

Except you got the scenario completely wrong. I’ve sent in my ID and the depositers, both of which are of age.

Wouldn’t it be much easier to get a prepaid gift card? You can get re-loadable ones and they have your name on them.
Seems like it would save you a lot of headaches.

  • jmo26

Yeah, seems like a no-brainer that your account would get locked for this. I’m shocked that you’ve been able to use your friends card on other sites.

Probably, that doesn’t help me here though, as my account has my $500 deposit sitting in it and is locked; DK not responding to emails and obviously the chat doesn’t work.

Sometimes the FAQs are a good place to start DEPOSITS, WITHDRAWALS & BONUSES

What Can I Use To Deposit?

DraftKings accepts all major credit/debit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

    - PayPal

    - Visa, MasterCard and American Express giftcards are also accepted on DraftKings

You may only deposit funds into your DraftKings account with a payment method registered in your name.

  • bzsports4

Draftkings allowing deposits from credit/debit cards in other people’s names would be a huge liability for them from a fraud stand point.

  • jstevens2k11

To me there are endless scenarios of liability to allow someone to deposit money into an account thats not theirs. I dont believe you have done this on other sites and lots of people have done this successfully.

Same address and perhaps last name? And is it a joint account? Regardless, different than some random other dude with a completely different address.

  • HammysWorld

After sending them my documentation, I’m verified and ready to fire tonight.

    Good luck all

That really shouldnt be allowed.Your wife” could really be your my mom or sister and unauthorized use of card. Not accusing you, just giving a hypothetical scenario. For security purposes, person registered at site should be only one allowed to deposit under same name on credit/debit card..

    Summary of thread:

OP ignores something spelled out clear as day by DraftKings (red bolded text in emac’s post)
    His account is predictably locked
He sends DK his friend’s license and credit card (because, y’know, that’ll always be 100% not identity theft or fishy)
He comes to the forum and posts
He continues to clearly not understand stuff
DK customer support does what they need to do and fixes things, thus making this entire thread pointles but kind of entertaining
