Just starting this thread as the old thread is sort of off topic. We are past that first drop now and these are pretty exciting.

Now if I could just get something under 15,000 place in line to get one!

What’s a legit price for 100/100 signed Platinum?

Another name I see often is yours! I think that was a great buy. There’s no reason for Woods cards to be that low, and #100 should hold better value than most!

I might be optimistic, but I could see it be worth $10K in less than a month.

Carbon signed #99 at $4K is so tempting! Maybe if I hit the jackpot in NFL SD tonight!

    On the watch for:

    Brady platinum #600 at $525
    Brady emerald #1000 at $850
Biles signed carbon and platinum at under $800 (almost got there earlier today)

Actually just saw you bought it off the market and didn’t win it in the draw.

I still think $5k is a lock if you’re trying to make a quick $1000.

Personally I’d list at $10k and wait a few months for the market to climb.

Thought I would share something interesting that happened to me during the drops today…

Carbon – I was #8xx in the queue, so I bail and go right to the BROWSE section. I hit refresh until the signature card appears and I enter. There is only 1 card available so I start to “jam” (DKs word, not mine) the refresh button. I always do this with all the drops. However, after about 2/3 minutes of doing this, I get an error message “Something has gone wrong. Please try again.” But… I keep getting this message until I force close the app (I always use the app) and reopen DK.

I think, “whatever – must have been a glitch.” I return to the Carbon Signature “room” and continue to jam the refresh button. And, after about 2 minutes again, I get booted again.

Platinum – I’m 8xxx in queue this time, so I bail immediately and wait for the Platinum Signature to appear in the secondary market. I enter and start jamming that refresh button. I’m kicked again.

I force close and restart DK. I go back to the Platinum Signature room. This time, I only “slightly jam” the refresh button. It’s about a 1 or 2 second pause between refreshes (basically, I wait for the “time wheel” in the middle of the screen to disappear before hitting refresh again. I never got booted again.

So, is this DKs way of limiting the bot activity? (P.S. – I know nothing about code/security/hacking/preventing/whatever, so I don’t even know if I was getting booted intentionally, or if the system really was “overloaded” and it was just a coincidence.)

I hope I was getting booted intentionally (DK working on this obvious issue). Anyone else have this issue today? (Who are the other “refresh jammers” in the room??)

    Thoughts??

@SleDwreckerZ: I normally do the same, mostly with my phone too. I couldn’t today because I was very busy at work. Anyway, I didn’t have $4K+ in the account. We know for a fact that it didn’t work, as the same guys as always got the cheap cards, but still, if DK is trying something, it’s better than nothing!

I don’t have that kind of money, but based on other cards and popularity, $4K isn’t enough at all. These cards will go for $6K in less than a week for sure.

Wow, actually only took a day!

If people are willing to hold those for 5-8 months I think they’re going to see insane profits. I think Tiger NFT“s will undoubtedly be the 2nd highest.

Get through the winter and let NFT’s do their magic and appreciate in value.

  • osuryanf

Some fool posted a Tiger Carbon for $15 (they’re selling for $180 currently at the cheapest)….. insta-scooped by another scripter in redeemedwarriors.

How in the world can all of us spot scripters so easily yet Draftkings can’t?

It was actually bought by redeemedwarriors, who sold it 12 minutes later for $138.99. I don’t recall seeing his name before, BUT

Guess who bought the only two mispriced Woods carbon signed cards… Yep, redeemedwarriors again. He bought #56 for $3K and #68 for $2.5K and resold them both a few minutes later for $3999 and $4049.

@osuryanf: As you can see, I did spot that guy 4 days ago.

Correct, I was adding on to his obvious bot/scripting.

You’re not making commission on every transaction. That’s why you can spot the obvious that DK can’t.

Anyone know how taxes (if any) apply to NFTs? I’m assuming profits aren’t the same as “winnings” – so how does it work? Taxed? Not taxed?

I wonder the same thing but since this is being ran throught DK I would be shocked if we can get away with tax free profits.

definitely taxed-just like crypto -not sure how dk will handle but IRS if you make profit you can bet they want a piece

When you sell an NFT, you will have to pay taxes on the profits. These profits are considered income and will be taxed at your ordinary income tax rate, which varies from 10% – 37%. This is a similar tax treatment to getting paid in crypto, or mining or staking crypto for that matter.

Thanks for this – and everyone else who responded.

Follow up to the quote above…
“When you sell an NFT, you will have to pay taxes on the profits.”

What if you sell it, but put everything back into additional NFTs?

Example: Someone buys a Ruby Signature from mint and sells if for $25k. They then buy 20k worth of different NFTs.
(It’s now January 1, 2022. The person never sold another NFT – stills has the 20k worth of other NFTs.)
What is this person taxed on?

I am not a tax expert so take that for what its worth but I would assume you would owe taxes on the initial 20K profit regardless of what you do with that profit after its realized. That is the way the stock world works when you sell one stock for a profit and then buy a completely different stock with your profits.

The question I have on the tax side of things is that since this marketplace is tied in with your DK account can your DFS loses offset any profit from NFT’s. So if I would happen to make $5,000 on NFT flips but lose $5,000 in DFS would I still owe taxes on the $5000. I am going to guess yes which is scary as money that goes back into my DK account has a low % of ever making it back to my bank account lol

I know nothing about US taxes, but us Canadians don’t have to pay a penny in taxes for DFS winnings (nor can we use losses), which makes NFTs on the same platform even more complicated.

Also, what’s profit? Is the rake calculated or not? If I can use profits, I should be able to use losses too. I’m currently holding most of my cards and it’s small money anyway, but it looks like it’s still a gray area.

    This is correct.

Say you eventually sell that NFT for a loss the next year that is an entirely different conversation. But if you sell the NFT at any point this year ABOVE what you paid for it, then that is taxable profit.

If you’ve sold, say, 15 NFT’s and lost money overall then no you won’t be paying taxes on ‘profits’ since overall there was none. But if you sold 1 and it profited then yes, you pay taxes on your gains. “Losses can only be deducted up to the amount of your winnings” type of thing.

*Let me clarify this is not tax advice and I’m not 100% sure on it….. but I’m pretty confident in the educated guesses.

    The short answer is no.

They are separate entities in terms of taxes.
