So DK tweeted out millionaire maker ownership here http://playbook.draftkings.com/nfl/millionaire-maker-percent-owned-week-3/ which as of 230pm still includes ownership data for games that have not yet started. IMO this is a big leak and should never happen. It also seems like something that your average analyst should probably not have access too, and able to tell his buddies who is owned and who the best players have. Hey did you know that CSURAM has Randall Cobb going late? Given that they can access the macro results it seems probable they can access specific users during and/or before contests start.

They definitely should no be sharing it publicly, if they’re going to do it just list the full rosters in the contest and call it a day.

I met that dude Ethan in Vegas and he walked around like he owned draftKings. There’s always a reason for that…

    Easy now.

If people want to speculate on when Ethan had access to data and how that data was used, I guess that’s reasonable until DK comes forth with their version of what happened and how it will change moving forward…

That said, I’ve known Ethan for several years now and can say, without question, that he’s a very personable, friendly individual. Let’s not let this discussion turn into a libelous-ridden slander tour of Ethan (or any other individual, for that matter) because, frankly, the words you wrote simply are not true.

Well his Twitter account is now on private, pretty sure that’s a fact

Wow these statements are a joke obviously the controls they have in place aren’t working otherwise Ethan’s article wouldn’t have been posted….

The reason the sites don’t want to do this is because they would have a hard time keeping good employees or bringing on new employees that are passionate about the industry.

People are passionate about money. That’s the bottom line.

And insert the 0.5% punt play that hit the dong in the 1st inning, or caught a TD in the 1st quarter…. “I just liked his history as a hitter” said of the .200 strikeout machine SS that hit two dongs

Did you miss the sites statements? It doesn’t seem to outline anything.

How is he still employed there with this gigantic mistake?

Anyone that wears a snap back hat in their linkedin profile should not have a job with a company with a billion dollar + evaluation

  • jkokbaker

Does anybody think Ethan needs to forfeit his winnings? I think DK needs to name Ethan in the response with some kind of punishment, ban employees from playing any DFS anywhere and let everybody know how this will not happen in the future. Also, their relationships with the pros needs to come to an end if DFS is going to build trust with the rest of the public. If this happened, what else has happened in the past we just do not know about. I know this will not fix everything but it is a step in the right direction.

doesn’t matter if he’s still employed there. He has won enough to be satisfied

All this “outrage” and every one of us will are already building lineups for Week 5.

  • AndThisGuyPeedOnIt

Maybe this is just the lawyer in me, but how in the world can DK even police this if they wanted to? All the employee has to say is “oh yeah, I liked that guy this week because reasons,” and that’s pretty much unimpeachable even if the guy stole it from the lineups he saw.

This is crazy. Why would he forfeit his winnings? What PROVEN advantage did he gain on Fanduel?

Also, what company does not want to have a good relationship with their best customers? What company does not give extra perks to it’s best customers? That would just be bad business.

    Well that’s not the issue.

I think we all want this industry to continue to grow (and avoid getting shut down), and the biggest obstacle to that is that casual outsiders don’t trust DFS. Stuff like this gives credence to the perception that the industry is not legitimate.

  • ltperry89

Great reply from DK – thanks for the bullet proof reassurance of your internal controls and addressing the situation with a blanket statement basically copied from FD…

    Unreal.

I have friends who work in the finance industry. They aren’t allowed to trade stocks their firm covers in addition to a group of other stocks…

How is this not a similar situation? People who work for certain companies shouldnt be allowed to play on other sites as well. It’s essentially insider trading (Whether you have access to the data or you don’t have access to the data, you still have an advantage the average player does not).

Your friends aren’t allowed to do that because the SEC would come and ruin them. There is zero oversight of DFS and we’re constantly seeing the sites are incapable of self policing.

Good point. I think it is difficult given the $ floating around However the sites have to go to whatever length possible to avoid even the appearance of cheating or insider special privilege. At the end of the day to retain players and grow, the public must have confidence in the sites integrity. The public may not have a grasp of these issues right now but as more and more media is focused on the sites shortcomings and accusations the public will begin to frame an opinion.

So far, the sites are failing miserably in my opinion in shaping an image of integrity and responsibility.

  • rainbowtroutman

I retired from wall street and was made to sign a insider trading disclosure every year. It was serious bussiness and this industry definetley needs some structure and regulation
