So DK tweeted out millionaire maker ownership here http://playbook.draftkings.com/nfl/millionaire-maker-percent-owned-week-3/ which as of 230pm still includes ownership data for games that have not yet started. IMO this is a big leak and should never happen. It also seems like something that your average analyst should probably not have access too, and able to tell his buddies who is owned and who the best players have. Hey did you know that CSURAM has Randall Cobb going late? Given that they can access the macro results it seems probable they can access specific users during and/or before contests start.

They definitely should no be sharing it publicly, if they’re going to do it just list the full rosters in the contest and call it a day.

Why is Ethan’s profile locked on twitter. I’m not assuming witch hunt because well I don’t know but if there isn’t anything to hide why shut your shit down?

Whatever your opinion on what happened the end result of this is going to be bad. Mainstream media was putting out incorrect hit pieces on the industry last week before any of this happened. This issue just gives them more fuel for that fire.

The industry had a chance to self-regulate and failed. There were many things before this that could have/should have opened their eyes to run a tighter ship but everything was focused on the short term.

Without a doubt the long term is going to look a lot different than now, and I don’t think that’s a good thing for the companies. A bad thing for the companies is also a bad thing for everyone else involved — from RotoGrinders, to people that rely on DFS to put food on the table, to the guy who puts out $5 a week to just make games more fun.

The one thing I think we can all agree on: this sucks.

Agree with this fully. I’m a super low stakes guy who throws no more than a few bucks at each slate, but I love playing and it’s a great hobby, and I’ve come close to winning a few small GPPs. The only positive that can come out of this is that it will lead to real regulation and real attention being given to the many issues — not just this data access controversy — that have made the industry looked upon unfavorably by many, including some of us who play it.

Instead of focusing on just Ethan, I’m more concerned with:

WHO else has access to this data
WHY they have access to this data
HOW long have they had access to this data
WHEN do they have access to this data

Wouldn’t you like to know if this has been an ongoing issue or isolated incident?

Sure there’s more way more to it than Ethan.

Ethan isn’t some noob though. He knows its wrong for him to have prelocked players ownership numbers. He’s an employee of the site. There’s nothing suprising about him being in the middle of this mess.

We’re all hoping that someone gets to the bottom of this.

Ugh. Not only did I lose this battle overall, the incorrectly reported information is now making it back to RG as “fact.”

DraftKings/Ethan stands by the statement that he was sent the data around 2 ET, after lineups locked on Fanduel.

Cal, we do not know that as fact either. There really are no facts as far as I know.

All sides are stating non-facts as facts including you.

And if him getting it at 2pm is a fact then what did he do with it?

Cal- The OP also states this. Does this mean I should assume thats fact as well? I admitted I wasn’t sure on the whole story and was asking for clarification or proof. I was hoping for an actual twitter post as that would clearly be the most accurate of what was tweeted.

No need for that sort of response when I’m not being a crazy conspiracy theorist. I understand you are probably stressed and appreciate any response. Tough to constantly play defense I’m sure especially given what you’re defending

O/U on number of DK employees (and/or Pros) with backside access (own %, lineups, etc?)

    I say 20 and I maybe conservative
    Same number on FD?

So, yes, shouldn’t be just about Ethan

If there was nothing to the story I doubt FD and DK would have issued the temporary ban on their employees playing anywhere

Excellent! Now on to the important necessary part of this fiasco. Who sent him the info? How many people have/had access at that time? Why did they have access? Who has access? Why is it released? Can any employee look at my week 5 NFL lineup as it exists RIGHT NOW? Why would they I suck… on and on and…. this is ugly and one fix MUST BE if you work there you can’t play ANYWHERE!

“If there was nothing to the story I doubt FD and DK would have issued the temporary ban on their employees playing anywhere”

This is what really hammered it for me.

It also seems that there is a reason DK doesn’t allow their employees to play DK ANYMORE (which leads me to believe they were allowed at some point.)

Is there a twitter hash tag already and it’s trending? Haven’t been on twitter?

DK and FD in the process of lawyering up right now I’d expect.

I’m not following Joakim – are you talking about me asking ColinDrew? I wasn’t being sarcastic, I really did send Colin a DM on Twitter asking him for details. I never saw the initial tweet.
