So DK tweeted out millionaire maker ownership here http://playbook.draftkings.com/nfl/millionaire-maker-percent-owned-week-3/ which as of 230pm still includes ownership data for games that have not yet started. IMO this is a big leak and should never happen. It also seems like something that your average analyst should probably not have access too, and able to tell his buddies who is owned and who the best players have. Hey did you know that CSURAM has Randall Cobb going late? Given that they can access the macro results it seems probable they can access specific users during and/or before contests start.

They definitely should no be sharing it publicly, if they’re going to do it just list the full rosters in the contest and call it a day.

why will the pros be out?

I thought I read a post where “Pros“were not allowed to play anymore since they are considered employees. Maybe I misread.

I have considered, and am still considering, withdrawing everything I have with DK.

I have forever known that I didn’t have a large chance of winning in GPP’s (pretty much all I play), but I always thought I had a chance. I don’t feel that way anymore. I am leaning towards writing an email to DK on my professional letterhead and advising as to how I have no confidence in their product. I’m just a drop in the bucket though, so they probably won’t care.

Cal, any idea as to when a response will be out there? Just seems to me that the longer there’s silence, the worse it gets and the more the worst is assumed by the masses.

I agree. The sooner we get a thorough official response the better. I didn’t get much information today but will look into it again tomorrow.

thats more along the lines of what i was i thinking.

probably should withdrawal some just in case.

In case of what? If our funds aren’t segregated and safe, then that was the case before this “issue” happened? What would change now?

I think a lot of people are in that position, who are following this story. It’s tough to know what to do.

Will FanDuel return to being the undisputed #1 DFS site after next weekend since all these people are threatening to leave DK?

  • JEFFRAMBO

    @tbird05 said...

It’s going to be regulated and taxed on a federal level?

Or will it turn into “dfs state lotteries”, where each state offers their own dfs sites. That would be pretty bad imo

Not sure if this was sarcasm or not but assuming the latter… your DFS winnings are already federally taxed if you are a U.S. based player and tally winnings in excess of $600 in a calendar year. In such instances you will receive a form 1099 after the end of the calendar year from the site operator.

So to paint a quick scenario:
Congressman A reads these articles and says to Congressman B: “Sheesh! We need to reign these cowboys in and shut them down!”

Congressman B says: “Hold on, there A… let me make a quick call over to Revenue.”

Congressman B on the phone with a top level IRS official: “Can you query (DFS Site)‘s taxpayer ID number for withholdings outstanding for the calendar year please?”

IRS Official: “Sure Congressman B, give me a few seconds.” Logs in to TECS and queries the taxpayer ID which takes all of 60 seconds. “Ah, Congressman B… they have $100,000,000 in outstanding withholdings on the year.”

Congressman B: “Thanks” click. “Yeah, Congressman A… we’ll reign the ropes in, but we aren’t shutting down anything! We are going to make sure they thrive and keep a close eye on them.”

Everybody defending Ethan is a joke, he is single handedly going to bring down the industry, this stuff is making national headlines the government was already sticking their nose into things now it is goign to get very serious. Insider trading is illegal, what Ethan did is illegal, and for everyone saying it was just luck what are you smoking. I don’t care how good you are when you win that many times in such a short time and then we all find out you have been seeing peoples lineups and you know ownership percentages before lineups lock, that is not luck its not skill its straight up cheating. I hope everyone involved is fired, I wondered how so many employees constantly got first and made it to live finals, hope an investigation is conducted and all guilty parties put in jail. Thanks for ruining an amazing hobby!

    UM — no and no

If he did do “whatever” it sure would be quite un-ethical, but in no way shape or form is it ILLEGAL.

There are no LAWS governing this that I’m aware of.

Oh idk, incase our government decides to storm into dk and fanduel and shutting down the joint due to regulations may cause a problem in withdrawing funds.
