Today we begin a new era with official launch of DraftKings Sportsbook In New Jersey.

We are very proud to announce the launch of DraftKings Sportsbook, becoming the first company to offer legal online and mobile sports betting in New Jersey. As the world’s largest daily fantasy sports platform, DraftKings leveraged its best-in-class technology, advantageous positioning and extensive knowledge across sports to bring their Sportsbook product to market.

“I am excited to begin this new chapter in our story by officially launching what I believe to be the most innovative, mobile sports betting product in the U.S.,” said Jason Robins, CEO and co-founder of DraftKings. “We have put immense thought and significant resources behind the development of DraftKings Sportsbook and I’m confident that sports fans in New Jersey will enjoy using it to make the experience of watching the games even more interesting and thrilling.”

The launch of DraftKings Sportsbook is the culmination of almost a year of intense preparation, with countless engineering, design, research and development resources all geared towards creating the best and most enjoyable mobile sports betting product for U.S. consumers. Through its unrivaled insight into the habits and preferences of American sports fans, DraftKings has tailored its Sportsbook app and online platform to offer sports fans in New Jersey the ability to place multiple types of bets, including live in-game bets, on major and niche U.S. and international sports. Moreover, DraftKings Sportsbook app and website allows consumers to seamlessly toggle between DraftKings’ Fantasy Sports and Sportsbook platforms, allowing consumers to place their bet and then draft their lineup with one click. Through its partnership with Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J., announced earlier this year, DraftKings can now offer sports fans in the Garden State the opportunity to place bets.

DraftKings’ introduction of legal online and mobile sports betting begins in New Jersey, but the company is prepared to act in response to future legislative decisions in other states across the country. Earlier this year, DraftKings announced it entered into an agreement to provide a physical sportsbook at the del Lago Resort & Casino located in Waterloo, N.Y which enables both partners to create a mobile and online sports wagering option in the Empire State should legislation authorize online sports wagering.

Sports fans in New Jersey can now place their bets on the DraftKings Sportsbook app via iOS and Android or online at: http://sportsbook.draftkings.com

DraftKings Sportsbook is 21+. NJ only. Eligibility restrictions apply. See website for details.

I can’t answer that one. Maybe they are unaware of what’s available offshore and this thread will help educate them. Maybe they changed strategies and will be offering lines worse then available elsewhere. The lines I posted are what they are though. Just using 5dimes normal
lines and what I’m getting via screenshot from the NJ players

I tried to post a screenshot but couldn’t figure out how to in this forum. If there’s a way someone knows I I’ll screenshot both next chance I get. Hopefully its of dk offering good lines!

Unfortunately for some reason these forums don’t allow you to post images directly. You have to post it somewhere else and then paste the link to it

I have to admit, I’m impressed you guys are even able to see the lines. I already have a DK DFS account and I live in NJ but I can’t access the Sportsbook because it won’t take my Social Security number. Customer service told me it was a glitch they are working on. So for now I’m just impressed you’re able to access the awful lines DK is giving us. Golden opportunity being wasted by them here in NJ.

I was in NJ on vacation two weekends ago. I was able to place a bet with money left in my dk account, So I believe depositing on dk lets you use that money in sportsbook.

The rule is you can use money from your DFS account but it must be laundered via DFS before it’s considered fully yours (so you can do what you want with it).

In other words, if you deposit $1000 into DFS, you can’t immediately use that $1000 for the sportsbook. If you put $1000 in play in DFS and get back, say, $850, you could use that $850.

MLB lines aren’t close to competitive with online book lines, so the claim you made last week that it was just a first day error seems off.

It would be unwise for the legal sports book industry to perform price comparison vs the unlicensed and unregulated black market sites.

We are operating in the newly licensed market of New Jersey where the cost of doing business much higher than an illegal offshore sportsbook has to face. We think this is a worthwhile expense to incur to ensure a future where you have the right to place a bet on your mobile phone. Over time the market will become more efficient thanks to our world class Sportsbook / technology team.

Here is a quote that may help express how we work differently from the Vegas/black market model that you may be used to, it comes from the noted sports betting blogger Captain Jack of Gambling with an Edge:

if you look closer at the lines, DraftKings is taking positions on games. On many games on the board, they offer the best line available on a certain side. As a price-conscious bettor, I welcome sports books that have an opinion on the game. Sometimes my opinion will differ from their opinion and there is value to be had. Having sports books that want to march to the beat to their own drum is very beneficial for sports bettors. If DraftKings, or anyone, opted to just flatly straddle the standard lines (-115/-115 when the rest of the world is -110/-110 as an example), I would be among the first to voice my displeasure. However, if they want to offer -104/-117 when the rest of the world is -110/-110, then I applaud their desire to have some skin in the game. For too long, the sports betting industry has moved in lockstep. The line originates at some offshore sports book and gets hammered into place by sharp bettors willing to play it for low limits.

The fantasy product will continue to suffer or possibly even die as all their focus will be put towards something they may be able to profit off of. Fantasy didn’t work out too well for them.

DraftKings is a Daily Fantasy company first and foremost, you can rest assured that this will continue to be the case for quite some time. We continue to actively promote and prioritize DFS, the demand for daily fantasy sports remains strong.

Look, all else equal (particularly because I do report offshore on my taxes), I want to play with DK over the offshore books! Its regulated, Im less concerned about my money being safe, the interface seems good, I already play DFS on there etc. But Im not going to support DK trying to design an inferior, higher rake product as the standard for the regulated market and I don’t like being told things that aren’t true or correct by DK community support.

From our point of view you should be very concerned about the safety of your money, when in New Jersey this problem could be addressed by only placing your wagers with licensed and regulated books.

It is fair to say that your posts in this thread have been focussed on the money line for MLB, while we are talking about the whole of our offering. If you do not like our number, that’s ok, we accept that we cannot be everything for all bettors at all times. We excel at providing new innovations to the market, and in some instances you might find the best price for a given side of the money line. We still offer a world class In-Game sweat experience, accomplished by providing a diverse range of betting options in addition to vanilla moneyline wagers. Cash Out bets are an innovative new feature for the American market. Outstanding props. Futures. Parlay across sports. We are introducing new features never before available to sports bettors in the USA. Please judge us on the totality of our offering, rather than cherry picking our ML number. Remember – Your competing against DraftKings now, If DK is wrong, come take our money! ;-)

Why does DK keep saying they are the same then?

There are many European companies who have been operating licensed online/mobile sportsbooks for years. Of these groups, several are also licensed in New Jersey. Our MLB money line prices are competitively priced vs these companies DraftKings model is to take positions on games. For the price conscious bettor who is looking at the totality of our offering, you may find the best line available on a certain side.

I have to admit, I’m impressed you guys are even able to see the lines. I already have a DK DFS account and I live in NJ but I can’t access the Sportsbook because it won’t take my Social Security number.

To comply with sports betting regulations, users with a DraftKings account must verify and meet the eligibility requirements before being permitted to bet on Sportsbook. Our customers are asked to provide your full name, address, date of birth, email address, telephone number, and social security number to perform identity verification.

We cannot comment on your specific issue in a public forum, but we can share that manual verification of social security numbers is required in the event a customer’s identification could not be automatically verified. This is a time consuming yet necessary process to assure compliance with all necessary regulations and laws; we hope that your issue will be solved shortly.

Unfortunately some issuing banks do not allow sportsbook transactions. A card you used to fund your Daily Fantasy sports account might not work to fund your sportsbook account. In the meantime, we recommend that you use another payment method like a bank transfer, please contact sportsbook@draftkings.com if you would like to discuss the options available. Like you, we are hopeful that the list of banking options expands over time.

I was in NJ on vacation two weekends ago. I was able to place a bet with money left in my dk account, So I believe depositing on dk lets you use that money in sportsbook.

All existing funds you have in your DraftKings account will be available for use on Sportsbook. Going forward, you will have one DraftKings account for both DFS and Sportsbook, but there will be an individual deposit process for each product. Funds deposited directly for DFS will not be available for sports betting unless they are derived from winnings. Funds deposited for Sportsbook will be available for DFS and sports betting.
