So, this serves as a warning to the community as well as a cry for attention, because I’ve been waiting about 5 days for a response from them. I was already disappointed in the site when they cancelled their big event (and I guess I should’ve taken that as a sign to get out then), but with the end of the NFL season (and because I was going back to NY where I couldn’t play on the site), I withdrew my balance (about $600) about 10 days ago. It had been a few days, so I logged on to check the status only to see this message:

Sorry, we are unable to log you in to your account

    Account Suspended
    Reason: TOS Violation: Multiple Account
Customer service is standing by to discuss any issues you may have with your account.

Which is hilarious because clearly customer service is not standing by.

I figured this was a misunderstanding of some sort given that I’ve been traveling a lot for the holidays (I’ve been to about 7 different states the past 3 weeks and I actually set my lineups in two different airports as well) so maybe the different IP addresses triggered something? I don’t know. I don’t have multiple accounts.

I’ll add that I live in New York so can’t set my lineups when I’m at home, but I specifically asked draftops support if I could set lineups when I was located in a permitted jurisdiction (I travel a lot for work) and they said that was fine.

But now, given their radio silence and the fact that this only happened after I withdrew my balance, I’m getting pretty suspicious. Particularly with fantasyup’s issues I’ve been reading about, I have to suspect that there is something else going on. For those of you who may have large balances there, I’d be wary. Will update when I’ve heard back.

Well hey there buddy, I’m definitely sorry about the price that you had to pay, but i’d like you to know that it made a difference for me. There MAY have come a time when the Rich Eisen commercials got me to try something new…. Maybe next year when I was making up my mind on where to go…

Not anymore, and never again. Draft Ops will never get my business now.

  • haze28

I can’t speak to your situation but I have had no problems with Draftops and have received my withdrawals every time. They have taken about five days to process to PayPal.

After I posted here, I finally heard back (coincidence?) and apparently they suspended my account because my friend and I both used our separate accounts from his house (and thus the same IP address) so they think I had multiple accounts (though I’d had an account for months that almost primarily was being played from home). Which is reasonable, I suppose, and a misunderstanding that I’d like to think will get cleared up pretty quickly. Though, I’m not sure why my withdrawal is being held up —- I don’t see what the possible benefit of having 2 accounts would be —- I never came close to having the max entries in their big tournaments (I don’t even know if they had a limit, to be honest). And none of this is bonus money or anything. But, I digress.

I’m waiting on a response to my follow-up and it still seems a little fishy that it wasn’t until I withdrew that this became an issue. We used the same IP address in like, November, and I’ve been playing for months since, from Illinois, California, Utah, Colorado and maybe some others — also, I withdrew after that with no problems — and now, on the heels of them cancelling the World Series event, the timing just seems odd. Will update.

If what you say is true, and you didn’t have multiple accounts, this is not reasonable and is fishy that they did this. Waiting until you withdraw to suspend your account is unacceptable to me because this indicates they are willing to accept $$ and profit (rake) from questionable behavior, likely against TOS, as long as you lose your $$. What if you did have multiple accounts, would they pay back the players who lost or keep it for themselves? The fact people question this practice raises flags.

Also, it is flawed to use IP address as the only check, unless you and your friend used the same lineups that day to enter the same contests….Most friends I have referred play their first contests using the same wifi since we are typically in my house or theirs. bars where I live have free wifi and a third of the people at the bar are usually checking their phones and teams’ progress during gameday.

  • coninefan

I’d be pretty sure we didn’t have the same lineups (unless by crazy coincidence) – but considering that the contests I enter are multi-entry and I never got to the max, why would I create a separate account? Makes no sense.

And of course, I heard back this morning probably because I posted here. Their support is being very vague and unhelpful (and their answers and original emails are riddled with misspellings and incorrect grammar) and won’t tell me what I need to do to unfreeze my account.

I guess that’s what I get for ignoring the warning signs (terrible interface, minor site, clearly slapdash operation).

So what you’re saying is DraftOPS thought you were a double agent operating under multiple identities? If I’m reading this right, hoping to die another die, you explained to their counterintelligence team your need to travel. After waiting approximately 007 days, when it was noted your resources might have been burned, you relayed this information to the RG6.

In truth, you were less of a thunderball and more of a splinter cell operating out of (what you thought) was an ally’s safe house.

It should be noted the possibility of dual lineups in what you perceived to be were for your eyes only.

Hey Conine, bummer about your situation. I was most likely the most prolific player on Draft Ops all year and I can definitely share that there was an serious inflection point for them right around week 10 or right when the Ethan Haskell/Nevada thing happened. In weeks 1-10 they were growing rapidly. Their main contest grew from $30K in Week 1 to $125K in Week 8 I think and then to $250K in Week 9ish. They announced the WSOFS contest somewhere around Week 8 too. During this time, they were very responsive with contest questions, withdrawals, customer support, the works. It looked like everything was just going gangbusters.

Then, “Haskell-gate” and the Nevada ruling happened and things haven’t been the same since. I know they had to rapidly reorganize and move because their operation was based in Nevada. I don’t know if they lost people in Customer Support or Account Services due to the move, but ever since they moved to California it has gotten much harder to communicate with them and withdrawals have taken longer and longer to process. I feel for them because essentially their company was 2 months old and experienced 10x growth in that time and then all heck broke loose with these legal challenges. However, it has been frustrating to deal with for sure.

I will however say that every penny I have withdrawn from Draft Ops has come through, even though it has taken longer than I would like in a couple cases. Also, Customer Support has been communicating a little bit better over the last couple of weeks. My personal opinion is that the legal situation caught them completely off guard and they lost some key personnel in the restructure that they haven’t recovered from yet. Also, I think they were incredibly conflicted internally on the WSOFS contest and didn’t know how to handle it. I can certainly understand that, even if I don’t like the outcome.

Anyway, hope your situation gets resolved and selfishly I hope Ops gets rolling again soon (preferrably right in time for the NBA and NHL WSOFS contests!)

they have no customer service to speak of they have a chat that never works, the site is almost never up when you try to log on and it is impossible to edit or find your lineups half the time. No percentages of players in use or anything that other sites offer. They were going to have a big 5 sport event and then cancelled it due to the horrible dfs outlook for the year.

  • jregger

I stopped playing on DraftOps after they arbitrarily changed your ability to only use fantasy cash when you pay 80% of the contest with your own funds. Previous to that, you could only use fantasy cash when your account hit zero (DUMB) or you withdrew all funds from your account (also DUMB).

Their very shady parlay-only bets (clearly appears to be gambling) from earlier this NFL season also did not sit well with me for a site claiming to only be DFS. I’m surprised to see their ads so frequently in arenas playing NHL games.

Thanks Rainman (I recognize the username…there were a couple of weeks you absolutely crushed it there) —- and you’re absolutely right. When I first signed up for the site the bonus structure was weird (as others have mentioned) and I found that support was pretty responsive in explaining it to me and eventually changing their policy. They also processed my first withdrawal quickly. It’s only since dealing with this in the past 2 weeks that they’ve been unresponsive, and like I’ve said, coming on the heels of cancelling their WSOFS event, it is not a good sign.

Yep. I’m not entirely surprised that I’m dealing with it and it is part of the risk of playing on a smaller site that clearly has had problems, but it is still annoying.

And just an update – my friend and I sent in documentation to show them that we are, in fact, 2 different people, and they said they’d get back to me yesterday. And didn’t. So, we’ll see what happens. They also said that if they found people were violating their terms of service

“we are committed to pursuing action against those individuals with their respective state’s governing offices.”

They also mentioned money laundering in the initial email. Though it’s empty rhetoric, things like that also leave a very poor taste in my mouth. Considering they’ve still never explained to me how having 2 accounts would be beneficial in any way or how you would launder money that way…

    Conine,
Just a follow on tidbit. I submitted a withdrawal to Ops on Wednesday and they just processed it today. This is faster than they were working on things around Christmas.

IMO, this reiterates my thought that the Nevada ruling, etc. really threw them for a loop and for a period they were preoccupied with other things. I’m hopeful that this is a good sign that they are back on track and ready to move forward.

Again, hopefully your situation gets resolved efficiently and you still play at Ops. These smaller sites need all the customers they can get! Otherwise we will all be duking it out with Max and Noto on FD and DK and losing our shirts.

Me too, received it via PayPal mid-morning, which was about 48 hours from my submitted request, and is a reasonable time frame.

It is sad to see the prize pools dwindling, but they are on a lot of the tertiary sites now that the NFL season is winding down.

Okay, it was finally resolved by me sending in my ID and my friend doing the same, proving that we are indeed two different people. They unfroze my account and they processed my withdrawal – though being in NY I am now banned even if located in another state.

So I guess all’s well that ends well, but it was pretty frustrating, particularly because they only seemed to respond after I posted here.

Good luck to anyone else dealing with a similar situation.

I have been playing on Draftops for a few months now and have no issues with Customer service or withdrawal.
I will say that there has been some issues with multi-accounting on that site and I will also say that I informed them this.
I play NFL and NHL there. They was a large NHL slate 8 or 9 games. Their largest NHL GPP only hold 20 entries with a cap of 3 entries/user. Well there were either 3 or 4 SN that each played the exact same 3 LUs. Had it been a small slate 3 or 4 games I would have probably let it go but on a night they 8 or 9 games it smelled to me
They responded to me stating they have noticed some issues with this recently and were working on it.
So PROPS to them for doing their do diligence to the fantasy community by freezing your account since it shared an IP address. Im sure it was frustrating and annoying but at the end of the day they did the right thing IMO

From the limited time ive played there ive noticed a ton of the same lineups in both NHL/NBA. With no salary cap there should be some overlay, but its a bit concerning when 30+% of the field has the same lineup.

I have made a few withdrawls in the past with no issues. I tried to access my account today and received the same “suspension” notice for having multiple accounts. I have ONE account! I have made several attempts to contact them today without succuss. I still have a few hundred dollars in the account. This is ridiculous!
