What’s up with Draftpot lately? The number of NBA tournies offered for GM games has gone down substantially over the past couple weeks. No more $50 or $100 double-ups. No more $25 GPP’s. It’s gotten to the point that it’s not worth my time to set up a lineup on that site anymore. Are they gearing up the for MLB season?

I used to enjoy playing their GM games but they tightened the pricing a ton and games got smaller and smaller.

Unless they changed things recently, the prices are based on players actual value over the past few games, so it’s not so much them “tightening” prices, but the true representation of how the player has been performing…as opposed to other sites where it may take a week to see an incremental price increase despite hitting 6x+ value nightly.

I actually appreciate that there are less “free spaces” (so to speak) it seems skillful when you’re actually having to project based on matchups and game theory instead of the bulk of your roster construction being due to market inefficiencies.

Having said that, I had been playing some lower-stakes on the site but haven’t been on for weeks – Personally, it’s due to not having enough time. I play a lineup on FD and DK each night, earlier in the year, if I liked a slate, I was trying to add DraftPot to the mix, but right now it seems impossible because so much of the NBA right now is reacting to late news. I’m collecting info throughout the day and really making lineups in that last 30 minutes, changing things up to the last second….there’s no longer nights where I have 20 minutes to go enter some stuff on DraftPot, so with the time crunch, they become the casualty.

The NBA has definitely become a “react during the final 30 minutes” exercise – but that’s the norm for the sport. As a result, though, I will say that the time and attention I devote to the smaller sites has gone down substantially over the past couple weeks. I simply don’t have time to adjust lineups on too many sites when the Raptors (for example) announce that DeMar DeRozan isn’t playing about 5 minutes before most rosters lock.

So . . . with that being said . . . when Draftpot offers leagues that (in total) only allow me to play for about $50/night, it’s simply not worth the hassle to scramble at the last minute adjusting that site’s roster. I simply don’t have enough action on the site to make it worth it.

That’s disappointing because I like the site. Hopefully, Draftpot expands the game offerings when MLB starts up.

On another note, I’m fine with Mr Fantasy staying away from Draftpot. He’s not easy to beat on a regular basis. :-)

I’m disappointed that they have stopped offering the $25 gpp games. I haven’t played on the site since.

I just emailed them. Guess they are toasted. If you cant guarantee at least $500 worth of NBA action your future is not so bright.

$500?!? The other day I joined every league that I could and I don’t think I got much above $40. That’s pretty sad.

I don’t get it. I didn’t think there was much overlay over there. Maybe I wasn’t paying close enough attention.

The bonus pays out 80c for every dollar in rake paid, right? Add in what they likely pay to affiliates(RG) and there is no money to be made on players that are linked to an affiliate(most). I hope the action picks back up during MLB because I haven’t even looked at the site let alone played there since NFL and the early part of NBA season.
