I am newer to DFS and I am still in learning mode. A lot of research is done here on Rotogrinders. However, one area seems to be quite confusing. I find the weekly NFL First Look articles invaluable, but here is my issue. The DVP rankings don’t add up with team stats. For an example, let’s use the Atlanta Falcons rush defense who in the first 5 weeks of the season have allowed (NFL.COM stat page) 78.4 ypg, 392 total yards, and 8 touchdowns. The ypg and total yards are ranked #1 in the league yet they are rated dead last at 32 in DvP RB rankings. As a comparison, the Detroit Lions rushing defense has allowed 126 ypg, 633 total yards, and 8 touchdowns. Yet they are rated #20 in DvP RB rankings

Check the receiving yards/tds by rbs

The DvP rankings are based on FTPS allowed to the position I believe. So take your example of ATL for example. Even though they are not allowing many rushing yards to RBs, they may be allowing a lot of receptions/passing yards/TD’s.

I use a combination of YTD Team stats & DvP to determine if a RB is a good play or not.
