Massive slate on Wednesday 14th December, coupled with good start times for US players I was hoping for a bit more form DK but never the less should be some interesting games.

    Earlier Games:
    Middlesborough v Liverpool
    Sunderland v Chelsea
    West Ham v Burnley

    Games starting 15 minutes later:
    Man City v Watford
    West Brom v Swansea
    Crystal Palace v Man Utd
    Stoke v Southampton
    Spurs v Hull

I think this will be the beginning of squad rotation over the xmas period so I will be leaving it late to build LUs, however I think it is pretty obvious to just take all the Spurs players

Got my ass handed to me again Saturday on FD. Back to the drawing board

Omg I totally forgot about mid week fixtures! Another reason DFS soccer is the best!

  • oconnocj

i am new to soccer on fanduel, but have done well thus far. obviously taking spurs players. does anyone think its best to go for saves from goalie or going with the best chance for a clean sheet?

  • SelfCharmer

On Fanduel there is even more importance on chasing saves than the Clean Sheet bonuses as there has been a very low amount of Clean Sheets this season so far.

If anyone cares, a new blog is up! Small preview of each game for this slate within it!

Nice blog. The problem with a Spurs stack is that it is tough to trust anyone outside Kane and Eriksen right now. Kane has been getting the goals and Eriksen seems to be back on a majority of the free kicks/corners (with goal/assist upside). Both should be heavily owned in GPP’s (40+%) and cash games (60+%).

Tottenham is obviously the biggest favorites at -450 but there are a lot of other favorites to look at I think: Man City -400, Chelsea -300, Liverpool -170, West Ham -150, Man U -150.

Should be a fun slate. I’ll probably play the 2 game slate on Tuesday as well as a degenerate (I want to fade Arsenal but not sure I can). But mostly been chasing more Boxing Day tickets (finally got one yesterday).

Oh I completely agree with this, just think you will see a lot of them with more, people seem to still over-value Son and personally Alli has actually been playing quite well so will make his way into some GPP LUs I am sure. Not to mention people love to play the biggest home favourite in Goal and Rose/Walker are both viable, I would be suprised to see a few Rose/Eriksen/Son/Kane stacks floating around the bottom of the leaderboards!

I have not been entering any Boxing day qualifiers as I am out all day with family with drinking involved, however the closer it gets the more likely I am to get twitchy and start firing lol Congrats on the ticket!

Right. Son was great when Eriksen was out and he had the safe floor due to corners/free kicks, but now he is just scoring dependant (although he still likes to shoot from anywhere). But he has like 1 goal in his last 12 appearances (EPL/UCL) and has been one of the first ones subbed off. Dele Alli is a very good player but that doesn’t really translate to DFS value unless he gets on the score sheet. Rose/Walker I just can never get right. Seems like one tends to get forward more than the other depending on the game flow/opponent. But they should have a nice floor of 3-4 crosses, few tackles, and good shot at clean sheet bonus.

I’ve been playing the qualifiers the last few weeks. By the end I could probably just go back and add up what I spent on qualifiers and I should have just bought directly into the contest 2-3 times.

The point I was making about Dele Alli is people see him playing well in a match and do not bother to think if it translates to Fantasy, he still gets played much more than he should. Also yes he is a different beast on FD

I quit playing on FanDuel when CBB (RIP) ended last April. I’ve had success with DK soccer and have not felt the need to learn a completely different scoring system/strategy on FanDuel. Also, the size of the GPP’s are not anything to entice me away from putting all of my play on DK.

I am sure Dele Alli scores better there, although I just quick looked and his PPG are still below a lot of other midfielders. I still am not sure how I feel about “chances created” either. Still seems way overvalued on FanDuel.

Fair enough. If you’re used to DKs scoring system, the transition is somewhat difficult.

Although, a major factor for me in moving some of my action to FD has been the fishies. Soccer knowledge in the DK community is growing so rapidly. FDs product is fresh and I’m ready to go in for the kill :)

This is a fair point. If there are some FanDuel only players that are giving soccer a shot for the first time. Or casual DK soccer players trying to convert to FanDuel, which involves a much different scoring system/strategy.

Last week, I thought the Spurs backline was a trap because they were too expensive, and Swansea would score, if not a few.
This week, I think Spurs backline is a trap because there won’t be enough action.
There should be a few CS bonus(es, bonusi) to go around this week, it will be a matter of finding the best value. That is why I will avoid Spurs backline this week.
If I am one shooting on a keeper, it will be Pickford, Heaton, or Fabanski.
If I am going to GPP game stack a backline, I really man ManU’s price+action, West Ham’s price, and Watford’s price+action. Chelsea and Spurs are just too expensive for me. I think my fav will have to be Southampton. They have decent value, will see action, and have a great CS bonus chance, and should go completely under owned.
I really like the Boro v Liverpool game to feature a lot of sneaky goals. Liverpool have been in brutal form at the back, and Boro will be completely under owned.
If there were two teams to avoid entirely, I would look to City and Chelsea. Neither squad is in great form at the moment, and I think City are in absolute shambles at the back, while Chelsea will be starting to look over their shoulders at an on fire Arsenal squad.

Chelsea has won 9 games in a row. Crazy to say they are “not in great form at the moment.”

The West Brom game was not their best effort for sure, but West Brom also employed strong defensive tactics with Phillips and Brunt dropping deep and West Brom was basically playing man to man on Hazard and Pedro and packing in their back line.

Man City definitely not in good form right now though, although I think they still have some good DFS contributors.

    Chelsea? wat

  • SelfCharmer

Avoiding Chelsea….. good luck with that one… West Brom did what Tony Pulis does best and played essentially 6 defenders to stifle Chelsea, and Chelsea still won. If you do not think they will go and put at least 2/3+ goals past Sunderland (80+% of the time) then you are mistaken.

If you are fading them because for salary purposes you prefer other players then that might be a valid point, but questioning their form is just incorrect and misleading

Although I am not playing it, I expect Bournemouth to perform better than the bookies are predicting. They are a different animal at home and are defensively sound.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Arsenal win but Everton are likely to get a goal as they really need a result. Probably 2-1/3-1 to Arsenal

I agree—I’m playing at Yahoo with a full Leicester fade and a Bournemouth back line. 0:0 there would not surprise me in the least.

That’s a really interesting point you made at the blog about how GPP size affects roster construction. It has me wondering if the reason I’m having a lot more success with soccer than other DFS sports is partly because my natural process turns out to be a sort of GPP/cash hybrid and it’s more suited to these smaller tournaments where you don’t need quite as much variance to hit the top.

Going to play around with my game selection in a couple of other sports and see what happens. Thanks!

  • bmoy13

New to FD soccer thanks to the cross sport survivor. Any advice on filling out my lineup for the Dec 14 slate?

  • oconnocj

i am with you bmoy13 need to make it to the final round of football to guarantee some cash
    top 1500/4000 advance
any help would be greatly appreciated. ive been watching some soccer but compared to the knowledge someone from england might have about epl is countless times more than i will ever have.
i figure there will be a lot of inexperienced players in this contest so i think i can hit cash

Glad the blog could be of some help! The general advice out there for DFS and GPPs in particular is not geared toward a sport like soccer at all. The emphasis on Game Theory and being Contrarian does not apply as much to a 5k person field than it does to the 200k people milly makers etc. You can easily bink a Soccer GPP with 6 Chalk players in your 8 man roster

ople see him playing well in a match and do not bother to think if it translates to Fantasy, he still gets played much more than he should. Also yes he is a different b

Spurs fan here… Dele was 3% in the UCL tournament last week that i took down partially bc of him (and my Corona/Brahimi stack)…. would have had a bigger game if that absurd “own goal” was credited to him like it should have been. Oh well.

Also yes, the differences between DK and Fanduel for soccer games are by FAR the most pronounced of any DFS game i play.

On DK, crosses rule. Like you cannot even build a lineup without Ludwig Augustinson or Miguel Layun when they play on champions league slates or you are basically starting in a 25 point hole. Also, the player pricing on Fanduel for soccer is pretty horrible in its current . It is just way too easy to fit in multiple stud attackers without making real sacrifices at M or D at all. Definitely sticking to DK for soccer until Fanduel adjusts accordingly.
