    Go Fins!!!

I went with 1 American, 1 Spaniard, 1 Slovakian, 1 Austrian and 2 Frenchies (who have Spanish names). We’ll see how that goes!

Romain Langasque, that’s not a Spanish name?

Gouveia last week pulled the same crap has your Drysdale pick last week. Barely squeaked by the cut, then decided to suck to MDF. Gouveia’s off my list now until he plays at sea level.

Hard to justify playing those lower guys with so much value in that 7k-8k range, but Kalle Samooja at $6400 really leapt off the page for me.

Also at the same price, Tanihara, 6th here last year. At that price he’s making it into my player pool, at least a little.

Gouveia was looking good until Saturday. Kalle looks like he’s turning it on again. Not a bad pick. I picked him once for the article and he came up with a MC so I harbor resentment. Tanihara is a wild card. He’ll top 10 then MC.

I’ve been going solo lineups last few weeks. My initial build the cheapest I have is Singh Brar at 6800. Not sure what I want to do with Bobby Mac yet. I like the price but the MC last week stings.

That’s probably the Frenchiest name ever!

Lorenzo-Vera and Perez sound more Spanish for sure.

Who’s got the stones to roster Ryan Fox? He’s blindfolded off the tee but dude hammers greens.

  • lfn1992

I’m trying to figure out for the life of me why Scotty Hend does so well here. Rostering him is a nervewracking experience, believe me.

  • Kingspark35

Scott Hend wins in the ‘European Tour’

    1, Hong Kong Open
    2. True Thailand Classic.
    3. Maybank Championship (Malaysia).

All won by one stroke or an extra hole.

  • titanhawks

I ended up with zero Hend in any of my three LU’s but knock yourself out :)

  • lfn1992

I think a good rule of thumb is to roster Scotty Hend in Asia and Australia, but even so he can blow up any time like Sergio Garcia in a major.

But then again he does well here

I had him in my lineup but took him out. Mainly to him not playing competitively for a while. So who knows what kind of playing shape he’s in.

Any love for Sergio? I’m not sure on his ownership. Seems like most would pick Willet over him. He has a house there, he seems happy in his personal life from what I can find in the last couple weeks. He’s been there at least a week it seems so he should be adjusted to elevation. There’s that home event pressure as well though. I’m just going single bullet with a pretty balanced team. Pick one in the 8000-8500 range, Lorenzo-Vera, Detry, Beef? I’m likely on LV.

I keep going back and forth on Sergio. If he’s locked in, he could wreck this course (so could Rory for that matter). Then again, it’s a tricky course, so the blowups could be bigger.

Same here. I went with LV but it’s Euro golf and I don’t really know/follow the guys, so for me it’s more about guts than stats.

  • lfn1992

I’m doing 20 LUs and it’s actually pretty challenging to come up with LUs to me because of the metrics I’m looking for. It’s funny, I’ll find a metric that seems to correlate well, then someone like Scotty Hend or Wu Ashun comes and proves it all wrong.

Actually, this shows something interesting to me about DFG. One some courses there are clear outliers to the broad majority tendencies. Identifying these outliers correctly can mean big wins. The one that leaps to mind recently was the Volvo China Open. If you looked at Wu Ashun’s stats, you wouldn’t have picked him to do well at the pure ball-striking course, but there was something I saw where he did well at that course, or area, or something, so I rostered him and it helped me win money that week.

It’s sort-of like “reverse splits” in baseball where the majority favors a lefty-on-righty matchup but some guys are reverse-splits guys where lefty-on-lefty is better but counterintuitive. There seems to be some golfers that are like this, of which Wu Ashun to me seems like the best example. It’s as if you almost have to ignore all stats – form, ball striking, putting, and just go with CH or “he does well in China”. But just for a certain small number of guys. It’s strange.

I’m just going to call this the “Wu Ashun Rule” because it sounds cool

I like all three. If I had to rank them I’d go Beef, Detry, L-V.

I take it this event no shot tracker. I am not even sure it is done in Euro since I play so rarely. I would imagine GC will have it televised at least.

The Golf Channel offers coverage in 3 hour increments, “early” and “late”. Unless you’re a sleepless degen like me, the “late” one will probably be on at 6AM-7AMish EDT and you can watch it then before GC puts on their PTI-like shows.

Beef just scares the shit out of me as far as rostering him.

trying to determine if he will play to his abilities, is a HUGE question and is a hi variable. His abilities would make him a no brainer and kind of a safety pick with upside. His variability say’s, no consistency, no reasoning, and could just as easily be a MC.

Any Euro veterans on here know if there’s any radio coverage? I haven’t found anything yet but can’t search much deeper until I’m out of work.

I see your username. You can fire up Niklas Lemke. He did pretty good last week.

  • lemke086

I was excited when I saw that! If i wasn’t making a balanced team with no one above 10 or below 7 I’d plug him in. He’ll probably at least get honorable mention in a Showdown lineup. The last pro in any sport I remember with my last name (which I rarely see anywhere) was Mark Lemke. I think he played on the Braves in the mid 90s.
