Seeking help on a couple of issues.

    1. In states where Fan Duel and Draft Kings have been banned, are there other operators, such as Fantasy Draft and Fantasy Aces, that are still active in those states?

    2. What states are safe at this point and for the foreseeable future?

I don’t do huge money but have heavily integrated DFS in my life the past year, spending about 4 hours a day doing my research. I enjoy it, and it has become important enough to me, that being 57 and just retired, I would consider moving. That said, are places like Massachusetts, now safe? They have passed regulation and are good to go? Are there any safe states?

Tagging on to drbubba’s questions, and as I dr who can’t retire and move for another 12 years(!), does anyone have experience keeping an account in a “banned state” if they live near the border? I could likely continue to play sporadically if it’s allowable to maintain a home address in the “banned state” with a balance, but enter my contests from another state where DFS still operates. Has anyone had success with this whether they travel for work or live in a border town?

I’m in the same situation and would like to hear some feedback. I live in Tennessee but I’m literally 20 minutes from the Kentucky boarder if the state does indeed ban Dfs.

I have requests in to both DK and FD to clarify the situation. That’s my concern about payout. I know I can enter contests when across the border (FL for me) but I’m not sure if I can be a functional player (cashout for instance) without a permanent address in that allowed state. I’ll pass along anything I learn

    What I got from FD:
    Hey Ryan,

    Thanks for the follow up!

To put it simply you will be able to participate fully on your account while in FL. While you are in Alabama there will be a restriction on your account (although there is not one yet) when you try to enter contests and edit lineups.

Thank you for your past support and should you need further assistance please let us know!

    Cheers,

Asking for clarification on the editing lineups thing and the cashing out. Obviously being unable to edit lineups would be impossible to handle in my situation. I know that I’ve never had a problem editing lineups when I’m in Las Vegas as long as the entry had been made in AL before I left for the trip. Always made it a habit of putting in placeholders during NFL and editing while there.

So say I go over to Kentucky and enter lineup’s on draft kings then go back to Tennessee. Can I then edit those lineup’s at home in Tennessee?

    Hi Johnny,

Thank you for contacting FanDuel Customer Support.

Our rules state that you can edit from anywhere in the country. However, you can only enter from eligible states. So if you enter in Alabama you will be able to edit from Mississippi. However, you will not be able to enter additional contests or deposit while physically located in Mississippi.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll be happy to help.

Thanks Dee. Didn’t you stop driving a to enter Dk contests because you couldn’t edit when you got home?

  • fandjinbkalltheway

I live in New York. As long as you deposit in NJ or a neighboring state and enter your contests there, you can edit when you get home on the app or on the computer. You can cash out too, DK has said this specifically when I’ve asked them. Fantasy Aces definitely works here as well.

There is a state by state tracker on this site: http://www.legalsportsreport.com/daily-fantasy-sports-blocked-allowed-states/. Seems to be up to date, although not sure about the events over the past few days.

maxdout, very helpful, thanks. BTW, do you know of any state that has passed regulation and is now safe moving forward?

I believe virginia passed legislation making it legal.

  • drbubba

Looks like Virginia, Indiana, and Kansas are the three legal states at this point.

DFS is legal in NJ. It’s not considered gambling here. The pending legislation is for regulation of the industry only, not legality.

I’ve been getting a few pop ups on the app site saying Tennessee is banned from entries to contest but when I go back to the lobby and try and re- enter it allows it . Kinda weird just wondering if DK is just getting the software ready for Tennessee.

  • mindp0wer

Massachusetts has made it legal for 18+ and regulated it.

  • electrichaz3

what is the status of the sunshine state? Legislation up or no?

I’m in Tennessee and I’ve had this happen a long time before the AG announced Tennessee was illegal. I think it’s just a glitch. But I’m definitely waiting for the hammer to drop and that sucks.
