    Just got this nice email
    FanDuel
    Hi roma315,

We want to let you know that you will now see golf contests available in the FanDuel lobby, but they will — unfortunately — not be available to New York users. While we are very excited about offering fantasy golf, we are currently unable to offer these contests to users in New York because the New York Gaming Commission has not yet authorized fantasy sports operators to launch paid contests for sports they did not offer prior to November 2015. Until the New York Gaming Commission finalizes the regulations with a process that allows us to offer new sports to users located in the state, we will block paid entries in new sports.

We are disappointed about this development, and we know you may be frustrated also. We did not anticipate this result and do not believe the temporary permitting process was intended to preclude New York users from being able to participate in fantasy contests that comply with the New York statute. We hope that this is a short term issue, and that we will soon be able to offer our full range of products to our New York users.

New Yorkers can participate in free entry golf contests, and we plan to offer a number of such contests with prizes targeted to New Yorkers as we work to resolve this issue. Click below to enter this week’s $1K PGA Free Play.

    Play free

    Thank you,
    FanDuel
Offer Terms: The $1K PGA Free Play contest is only open to users who are physically located in New York. Users physically located in New York are not able to play in paid FanDuel golf contests. Users physically located in AL, AZ, DE, ID, HI, IA, LA, MT, NV, TX, and WA are not eligible to participate in paid FanDuel contests. Additional state limitations may apply.

This is true during the temporary permit stage, unfortunately. This will be fixed once the final regulations are in place. I asked Fanduel for a best guess ETA and they said they were not ready to speculate on that at this time. My personal guess would be some time later this year.

I’ve been playing soccer…now you are making me wonder why that has not been a issue.

It’s not like FD golfing is anything special.

Stupid structure, and glad we can still play DK golfing in NY.

Fanduel should just make it 8 golfers for whole thing
I would play that over dk

This explains why people are having trouble with soccer in NY. They offered it for several weeks and then all of a sudden took it away.

They send out an e-mail explaining why NY residents can’t play PGA, yet all they said about EPL was that they knew of the issue and were looking into it. It would have been nice for them to be upfront from the beginning and explain the reason behind taking soccer away instead of making it seem like it was a glitch that could be fixed.

Yea that part doesn’t make sense. Why’d they do that?

  • WidumBoise

Can we play Fan Duel Golf v 2.0 now in NY?

Really can’t believe that the state of new york hasn’t pushed this through yet? Makes ZERO sense to allow some site to offer a sport and others that do not.

  • Roma315

It’s crazy that when I want to play FD golf I just need to drive to Pennsylvania or New Jersey and I can join.

  • yisman

    same thing with fantasydraft

it’s an issue with the politicians

they need to amend the ruling

basically when they allowed DFS to resume they said sites could only offer what they offered at the time Schneiderman banned it

so fantasydraft did not offer golf at the time and yahoo did not offer soccer

as a result, I can’t play either one
