Let’s talk about the games and some plays,

I think I’m going away from Russell today he is so expensive, I will play a few Baylor Wrs however

    Do they have any GPPs?

Not really. They have some guarenteed contests, but nothing over 100 people. Seems 100 is the largest game you will get right now and it only pays out top 5.

I think if we hammer them this weekend and show that users are going to play, they will likely open something larger up once a week.

I played relatively high volume last night. My LU crushed. Website is very clunky compared to DK and FD. And there was no live-scoring until about 10 pm last night. But hey, I played CFB DFS. You guys go over there any play. If you’re a die-hard like I was, you’ll still have a decent experience. Plus, I expect them to improve from a game selection and functionality standpoint each week.

  • nickrock23

I think I played you in some Lupo, I definitely remember seeing the name. Scoring came up way too late, and that didn’t even bother me, what I didnt’ like was I couldn’t even get into the contests to see what the other LU’s I was facing were. When I finally did get in, the games were pretty much over.

I don’t see my sleeper pick listed – elijah hood – RB – UNC GA game

Pricing looks a little like wtf, but in a good way. Some guys are way underpriced. Should be fun to see the scores on the early slate tomorrow.

  • sal

do they have an android app?

  • El_Lupo81

You did nick! I saw you. And I agree w/ everything you said. I feel the same way. But for me it’s just a way to still play a DFS sport I loved dearly. So I can deal. She definitely ain’t what she used to be, though, haha.

To my knowledge, there is no app.

  • nickrock23

No but the mobile site is pretty good… when it’s not crashing.

Scott from Fanpicks called me a bit ago. Apologized for their issues last night and said they are working hard to get it cleaned up. They just didn’t expect this much volume – which I can appreciate.

Gave him a few thoughts: – We need a few GPPs – 25 game slates are too much, instead of 2 25 game slates, make 4 12/13 game slates – We talked rake a bit – I can’t hate on the 15% too much but would love to see lower, he says maybe as volume picks up

Told him I am going to support the hell out of their platform if they can get college right and the infrastructure holds up. I’d love to see FD/DK lose some volume to these guys bc they were willing to sacrifice CFB.

Rake needs to go down, smaller slates, a cleaner site interface, 50/50’s.

  • nickrock23

they need more guaranteed games.. they won’t get burned, they’ll fill.

But the most important thing is they have to offer other formats than WTA, top 3 and top 5. I would love to make a contest 200 entries, $2 or $5, and the top 20 or 40 get paid. This is going to cause more people to win, more people to re-enter contests, be involved and stay involved. I consider myself a good player, but cashing in a top 3 out of 20 people is very difficult.

Add PayPal, an app and more varied GPPs. As a site trying to draw users, take a risk and make a 200-500 entry contest! It’ll probably fill anyway. Geez, amateur hour over there at fanpicks

  • nickrock23

a Saturday $3 500 player GPP with top 50, 75, 100 getting paid would fill in an hour

A 200 player GPP for $2 with top 30 or 40 paid for tonights slate would fill … easily !! I’d enter 5-10 times myself.. and I know lemon, ajwilliams, lupo, 100rings, bwolf would as well… that’s 50 entries right there .

UNC under 12:00 SAT slate. Nevermind, you’re right. Game shows up, Hood doesn’t.

  • Rosterdamus

I imagine the contests will get bigger each week. These guys stumbled on a goldmine. Probably thinking about retirement already.

  • nickrock23

    Elijah Hood never a sleeper. He’s a beast !!

  • Rosterdamus

    ^ That too.

  • nickrock23

I assume Seth/KD stack will be very popular. I do have some concerns as I did with Lamar Jackson.. I knew he’d only play 1 half. Originally I had 50/50 of my entries split Jax/Hayden Moore, but added Lagow cause it figured to be a more competitive game. I also wondered if Lamar would run that much and risk injury being that the game would never be in doubt.
Seth is a freak, he can run too so he can do a lot of damage in 2 QTR’s. The risk is Shock or Terence Williams (Johnny Jefferson is out) going off and Seth getting outscored by the Colorado, Cuse, or MSU QB’s. Then you’re done.

Then if you’re going to stack another WR, Baylor’s WR2 is who? Either Lynx, Quan Jones, or Platt for me it could go any way. Pooh Stricklin could even get a lot of snaps. The guy the media already crowned WR2 I don’t think is playing – due to him beating a dog. He’s listed on the depth chart but I read he’s not playing tonight. Who knows. They never said a word about Simmie Cobbs and he’s a star.

So another option would be Colorado QB Sefo L. He does have some serious weapons in Shay Fields, Devin Ross and Bryce Bobo. Bobo is not listed on the depth chart so could be low owned. The dilemma is CSU’s pass defense. Last year it was 9th in the nation. I typically try to avoid top 50 pass or rush defenses. They return CB Tyree Simmons, and the other CB Jordan Vaden played last year but moved over from SS I think. CSU switched to 3-4 defense this year so they could have a problem with CU’s speed. Or, it could confuse CU. Either way I do like RB Philip Lindsay a lot. Buffs should lead most of the game so I hope he can get 15-20 carries.

Speaking of RB’s, what if BU jumps out to a 35-0 lead at half. Wouldn’t Jamycal Hasty get pretty much all the carries in the 2nd half? He’s $2000 I believe. Against NW State, 100 yards and a TD isn’t out of the question. Risky play though. On the CSU side, like last year it’s a guess but Dawkins and Izzy Matthews get a lot of touches. I felt more comfortable with Dawkins since he caught passes. He doesn’t get TD’s though, Matthews gets more. CSU’s O line is very good, they return 4 of 5 I believe. They lose 2 very good WR’s Rashard Higgins was one guy and they couldn’t even get him the ball enough so likely CSU will be running a lot. Also, the last time I saw CSU QB Fatum Bauta was in HS at Dwyer. He transferred from UGA, didn’t play there. I remember him being very big, not a very good arm but strong and could bully guys at the LOS. He wasn’t even expected to win the QB job since the guy last year did decent. Also, the WR that everyone was hyping, Xavier Williams is in the coaches doghouse and might not even start. So needless to say, it’s probably wise to avoid the CSU passing game. Good luck picking between Dawkins and Izzy though.

Other option would be to go Cuse. Babers is there now and he had BGU lighting it up. Supposedly Colgate is decent so if it’s any kind of game he could put up big #‘s along with the WR’s. Ervin Phillips seems like a safe bet to excel in Babers offense since he’s a do it all guy. Ishmael could have a huge game but is harder to trust. Brisly Estime ($3400) as well, I bet he has a return TD and Fanpicks does count return TD’s as 6.

As for Stanford, McCaff will be highly owned. Rector could do damage but I never trust their passing game. I always liked going against the KSU defense last year though. KSU does have a few very good WR, Heath, Burton, and JUCO transfer Pringle ($2000) is actually considered the WR1. That means he’s going to go up against Stanford’s top CB who’s good – risky. KSU QB Hubener had four games last year where he scored more multiple touchdowns rushing. I used him a lot last year. Stanford can be thrown on. Good rush D though (30th last year). Hubener is always a decent option.

Then there is MSU. The new QB had the job won then made a bad audible and that opened the door for Connor Cook. So now he’s back and supposedly very talented. Question is how much will the starters play, they have 3 good RB’s LJ Scott, Madre London and another guy I forget. So that’s a tough call.

Army I don’t know much about. But Temple has PJ Walker who’s done well. Jahad Thomas could go off but the coach has been saying that they aren’t going to use him as much this year because he got so banged up last year after being heavily used. Armstead and Hood supposedly will get a good share of carries. Temple loses a great WR Robbie Anderson – and Adonis Jennings, who was a 4 star recruit a couple years back, might step in. But the safer bet might be Ventell Bryant who had a nice year last year. One of those guys should have over 100 yards and a TD. Temple’s defense should be very stout again and they should lead throughout, so there should be a small window for the passing game.

So there are a lot of good options and tough decisions, especially since the pricing is a lot tighter than yesterday… so there is some thinking to do. If you do go with McCaff and Russell it’s gonna be very hard to fit the optimal guys in there. Then if Shock or Terrence Williams go off you’re in trouble.

Hope this helps some of you fellas.. Don’t hold me to anything though. Just my opinions.
