I had hope that FanDuel had figured out how to make a season long league with the roll out of Championship Friends mode. But there are easily customizable settings that I see are missing.

    1. Have to count top 10 scores towards standings. Why not make that number customizable in league settings?

    2. Has to end in the Championship week of the playoffs. Why not let league customize what week it ends?

    3. It’s not clear if the payouts are customizable or does FanDuel set them based on number of entries and buy in? Should be weekly winner gets $x per week, season long 1st place gets $y and season long 2nd place gets $z. League commissioner sets those amounts.

    4. Is there rake taken out of the initial buy in? Season long players are not used to the concept of rake. They just hand the money to the commissioner who handles 100% payout. In my mind, they should use this to get players to the site, then when they win the weekly prize now they have money in their account to play with in other contests.

    Any thoughts?

Is anyone making a league? I’d like to try it out

I just stepped through it a bit more when I got home and on my desktop.

They are taking a 10% fee on the initial buy-in. Definitely can not customize the weekly prize or the season long prize. No matter how big the league (20 person max), there is only 1 season long prize. Can’t seem to pay our 2 or 3 people.

They are starting down the right track, but I believe missed on these simple things. These are the things that season long players are used to. I guess I’ll just have to set up my recurring free contest in friends mode and keep track myself again.

Its dumb and I’m so bothered by it that I had to go and register an entire account so I can post instead of just read, lol. Why would they try to make a seasonlong product but not have any seasonlong features? No one wants to play a seasonlong mode with DFS scoring and no seasonlong features or flexability like trading or free agents. It’s a totally different game, pretending its not is so dumb.

DFS is DFS. People like it, thats why were here. Season-long is season-long and like 30x people play it. Make season-long better, don’t make DFS worse.

Well we took care of your #1 and #2 requests. #3 we only have 3 options but can look to fully customize it later on (it was debated but cut due to scope).

I just took a look at the Yahoo version of season long DFS. It is pretty much exactly what I am looking for, outside of it being rake free and being able to set up own prize pool. Pretty cool though. I can still set up a “free” league and handle money off the site.

I really believe that DFS sites should embrace the idea of season long DFS league with no rake. Think of it as player acquisition. A 10 team league, you could have 10 players deposit $100 each at the beginning of the season for the league. Site handles the weekly and season long payout without taking rake. The payouts go into the players account, and now they have money on the site to play real money games. THIS IS THE WAY TO CONVERT SEASON LONG PLAYER TO DAILY!!
