I love the survivor format. Wish they were more popular.

FD ran a massive one for the NFL last season, so hopefully that will be coming back in some form. Also, DD had a fun bracket contest which would be great to see as well.

I was really looking forward to survivor tournaments this year, I’m disappointed they have not been offered again this year.

If I remember correctly Fanduel ran 3 different survivor contests last year. Two lower stakes ones that filled or came close, and then a $200 one that had quite a bit of overlay. They also had qualifiers for the King Of The Diamond running daily. The finals for the Survivors along with KOTD and other special contests all coincided with their Championship week. I haven’t seen anything on it this year.

Hey guys, wanted you to know we’ve seen the comments about survivors on the forum and the DraftKings team definitely understands the interest in the format. We are putting together a few large survivor format promotions which will be launching in 2-3 weeks. Thanks again for raising your hands and asking, we always do try to stay flexible with these things and jump in when possible with good games.

  • papa123

Contest runs over a few weeks. Starts with say 1000 people. Each day the top 75% advance while the bottom 25% get cut. Survive to the day money starts getting paid out!

  • pburghpens22

Sounds fun….Normally how many days do you have to survive to win money?

Off the top of my head, it runs over roughly a month. 1000 entries was way way way too small in that example. Its much larger than that.

I sent them an email asking about these in late April and was told they had no plans, but after reading their response in this thread, who knows.

As a low dollar player, I’m hoping for a lower entry Survivor tournament as well. $27 is out of my range

I’m hoping for a reasonable entry limit. Last year DK ran a bunch of $27 Survivor tournaments. They were usually 210 people and 160 or so advanced to round 2. After that they cut 50% until the final day which was a 10-man GPP. I believe the cash line was on day 4. The problem was that three or four multi-entry guys would run 10-man trains on that day. They wouldn’t split their teams until the final days. That lead to sometimes advancing to the last day and playing a 10-man league where 2 guys had 8 of the entries. It’s hard to complain about that because you got paid either way but it made taking first a real long shot. I would like to see something like 5 entries max in a 210 player survivor. The only problem is that may or may not cause issues filling them.

On occasion they would split the trains into two parts, especially if the game was in Coors (cough, cough) to be able to play their favorites. Totally agree that they should be more limited though.

One thing I don’t get about the Survivor or really any other kind of tourney is when people say they think the sites worry if they’ll fill or not is, the sites can just run 1 of a certain type and then stop it if it doesn’t fill. They’re not obligated to run any kind of particular tourney. Given the fact that the $27 Survivor had pretty good fill rates last year, up until the end when the trains stopped playing as much, they could run a smaller $27 or a same sized $12 just to gauge interest. If it goes off empty, that’s a lesson learned, but I think it would fill.

Btw, there’s a Survivor starting today on FantasyAces, buy-in is $11.
