    Just saw this on ESPN

“The leading daily fantasy sports operators are voluntarily suspending contests on college sports indefinitely in all states as part of a deal with the NCAA, company officials told ESPN’s David Purdum.”

A link to the story: http://espn.go.com/chalk/story/_/id/15104454/draftkings-fanduel-stop-offering-college-fantasy-games

I don’t think it will have a huge effect. The ratings for those games are bigger than they should be because of sports betting. I’d guess the amount of money spent on college football DFS contests is very small compared to the amount of money bet legally and more so, illegally on college football games.

it’s why the sites were essentially willing to concede on college sports for overall political favor. College DFS just wasn’t very big, although I do think college football specifically had HUGE growth potential. The sites just never promoted college sports.

I would definitely agree with that

just for shits and giggles…would your guys want draft kings layout for college football..or something like…qb…rb..rb..wr..wr..wr..skilled player (where punt return and kickoff return yards count)…X factor (any player) or fanduel layout?

I would play any format…just want CFB back!

  • mvanderk10

guys college isn’t out of the question…have to have faith!!!

  • BabyBuster

Also would play any format. Could be all defense and I would be all over it.

Always preferred the two QB format at DK.

What are the realistic options for having CFB DFS in 2016?

We know we won’t see it on FD or DK. Seems like the chances of a smaller site running CFB contests are slim.

Might we see an overseas DFS company do something?

I’m just looking for any realistic possibilities here.

  • Loveyduvey50

Dammit every time this thread is bumped, I come in here thinking that DK and FD sobered up and changed their mind.

Or a site announcing they are going to run CFB contest.

Or a user in here asking who wants them to make a geocities web site to run a bootleg cfb dfs site out of their mother’s basement.

The Illinois bill includes language that sites can’t offer contests for Amatuer or collegiate level sports. How did this get started? Was this based off the Mass. Bill? We are expected to write our legislators to save Illinois a big dfs state. I want to save fantasy sports for all too, except college dfs just takes a death blow. I’m just lost here. They want to fix all the ails dfs but end up crushing in my opinion the only game that wasnt saturated with mme, scripts etc. There wasn’t tons of sites with optimal lineups, selling lineups and the like. Guys if you didn’t play you really missed out, those who played you know what’s being stolen from us.

Agree completely with your sentiment on college DFS. College football and college basketball were by far my favorite DFS sports and it was not close. That being said, college sports are not returning. At least not on Fanduel or Draftkings. This all got started because of the sham that is the NCAA. Their hypocrisy is far reaching and they believe their “student” athletes will be corrupted by any form of gambling. Yet their huge tv deals and ratings are mostly driven by gambling. So they continued to push Fanduel and Draftkings to remove college DFS sports, and eventually Fanduel and Draftkings ROLLED OVER and agreed to the NCAA’s wishes, hoping to score political points in legislation going forward.

  • tasteitsucka

It really got started when that dope on Draftkings got caught cheating. An offshore book will be offering college soon enough. Eventually the NCAA will want a piece and work out a deal with the states and the sites. And it will all be a watered down version of what was once a great civilization of college football daily fantasy.

Really? Cause last I checked it was proven he didn’t cheat.

Promoting gambling (despite the huge monetary gains) will never happen when it comes to the fraud that is the NCAA.

FantasyFeud/FantasyAces/DraftDay/UnNamed Smaller Site Step up to the plate and offer huge money CFB. At a small site like that you could be filling 10x your NFL games with all the FD/DK College Guys coming to your site.

My understanding is that they could if they wanted to. Like Stew said, DK & FD are using CFB & CBB as the sacrificial lambs to save face and keep the pro sports alive. A small site could say screw the NCAA and probably see some high traffic with all the people wanting CFB back.

This is true. They only places that other sites cannot offer college sports is the states that have passed legislation that have the “no amateur or college sports” clause in the legislation.

FD and DK have removed college sports due to their own agreement with the NCAA. The NCAA has no leverage here. But FD and DK rolled over on college sports for future political favor and bowed down to the fraud that is the NCAA.

That being said, it does seem like most state legislation going forward will include the no college sports clause. It is also possible the smaller sites decide they want to try to gain political favor as well as they are fighting in many states that any fees are a % of revenue and not a flat fee for everyone. Most smaller sites would be unable to survive the flat fees due to much lower revenues.

Agreed. 90% of my enjoyment of DFS came from college football and college basketball. Yes, they were my most profitable sports but they also were by far my favorite from an entertainment standpoint. I just enjoy watching college games much more than pro games (especially regular season pro games other than the NFL).

Now the DFS sports I get the most entertainment out of are PGA, Soccer, and Nascar. I am just not a big fan of the major professional sports for DFS purposes just because there is too much information out there and too many pros littered 100+ times throughout every GPP.

I agree completely with everything you said Stew. I’m one of the few people who will watch Toledo-Bowling Green before the NFL. Total bummer….

Perhaps one of the smaller sites will still offer college football but I have my doubts. I saw an article on ESPN recently about the first major college football weekend’s match ups and it’s just disgusting. I have no interest in even watching them anymore and I literally couldn’t wait until Saturday the last few years. CFB was the most predictable fantasy sport IMO and if you followed it closely the edge was prominent. I think it could have grown to something huge in the next few years because if the casual DFS player tried it there was a great chance you would like it.

100% no doubt felt I had a huge edge in CFB watched a ton and was willing to put in the hours of work breaking down pricing; depth charts; injuries (if you could find anything out), etc…. Gonna leave a huge void on Saturdays in the fall.

I agree. Sites never promoted college sports. College Football is the 2nd most bet on sport in the US (only behind the NFL). The interest is there, they just needed to draw people into DFS. The amount of teams and players can be overwhelming at first but it only takes a couple weekends of watching and playing and you become familiar with the players and teams pretty quickly.
