    Just saw this on ESPN

“The leading daily fantasy sports operators are voluntarily suspending contests on college sports indefinitely in all states as part of a deal with the NCAA, company officials told ESPN’s David Purdum.”

Sites didn’t work hard and draw people into college dfs for exactly what is happening now. I think we all knew this day was coming, we just didn’t want to believe it. Don’t see anyway it ever comes back. Definitely sad

Next fall is absolutely going to suck. Back to NFL where my RB is out for the game by halftime.

  • Dadeano860

Spoke to a Fantasy Aces representative and he said they are not planning on pulling CFB contests. Hope?

Not like that doesn’t happen in cfb, could even say cfb is more tilting when player news is impossible to come by when a guy is a game time decision or if they randomly get benched for failing an English test.

Cfb there is a bigger edge since in NFL there is too much info and your average player is so in tune that Le’Veon Bell could fart and we all know how it impacts Deangelo Williams outlook. Plus in cfb a lot of the studs are gone the following year which makes it exciting having a constantly changing player pool that helps specialist like myself increase their edge from that.

DFS just wasn’t very big, although I do think college football specifically had HUGE growth potential. The sites just never promoted college sports.

The sites could not promote college football. It is a violation of NCAA regulations to so.

What really shocked me was how Rotogrinders weekly player recommendations constantly used player images with the Draftkings or Fanduel logos over them. That is a major NCAA violation and could have cost any of the athletes eligibility.

Any company promoting a product or service, and using a college athlete’s name, photo, or likeness to do so, is risking that players’ NCAA eligibility.

I checked with Fantasy Aces today. Here is their response.

At this moment, we will not be offering college football for this upcoming season. Should anything change, we will certainly make an announcement well before the college football season. Please let us know if you have any questions.

No surprise there. And I doubt we ever see it again. Man, it was fun while it lasted but it certainly didn’t last long.

So insane. Who cares if average joes make fake teams of players? It has zero impact on the game in a negative way – the positive is people actually cared more about it as they were following other games. It’s absurd, and typical NCAA BS.

I’d be fine with this, as long as the NCAA also took every line off the board in Vegas and stopped any bets being placed on college sports, but we know that’s not the case….

Actual gambling on a single event is a much larger threat to the integrity of any college sport.
With actual betting taking place on the games, I’m not even sure what warped rationale you’d use to banish DFS….because kids on campus are more likely to play fantasy sports and it puts added pressure on the athlete to perform and/or they take even more crap if they don’t play well???
Grasping at straws…really all I can think of.
Unless this is just distancing themselves due to the questions of DFS’ legality, and they would allow it again if DFS was clearly legal in all states.

I think you are correct in all assertions and assumptions re the added nuisance of athletes being badgered for info on game plans; heckled following poor showings… Makes no sense; as you’ve pointed out, the ‘betting element.

I could tell you almost every starting QB/RB1/RB2/WR1/WR2 on all 120+ teams (at least 90%). Before DFS, it was about 10% or less. I am far from the only one. Without DFS, I have no incentive to watch. What a bummer……. I understand though, because it felt weird winning good money on a sport where none of the athletes got paid. I still hope it is playable on one of the better sites outside of DK and FD.

Maybe because they want to discourage college kids from…I don’t know…playing DFS and F-ing up there grades? I gaurantee DFS would have flunked me out of college.

college football was the most fun i think for football, even if i didnt play it every week. it was just amazing. i loved college hoops the one year i did it, and then couldnt do it the second year just too time consuming and not enough contests always playing the same people. CFB you could catch a lot of lightning in a bottle and get some good breaks with a guy not playing as much as people expected or a game going the exact opposite of game script

NFL is like the most overthinking of all the DFS games, too much info too much noise chatter everything

Can anyone else find the irony of this post? Aside from the fact the hypothesis is nonsense…

I know it wouldn’t be for money, but would anyone be interested in a mini-league for college football of some kind? Here is one idea I have:

This wouldn’t be the same as fantasy sports, but I would love to have a game where at the beginning of each season, 10 people or so would get in a league and each draft 11 college football teams. Here would be the rules:

    - Each player gets to reserve one team, that isn’t subject to pick limits. Call this the “favorite team” rule – you can use this reserve your favorite team or the team you think will do best. Use it how you want. But even if all 10 people pick this team, all 10 people get it.

    - Each player then picks 10 additional teams in a snake draft style. No team can get picked more (again, not counting the “reserve team” more than three times. So, if in the first round, three teams pick Alabama, they’re out. Pick order is decided randomly, but the 10th team chooses gets the first pick of the second round, etc.

    - The scoring is as follows:

    Regular Points:
1 points for a regular season win
2 points for a bowl appearance, +1 extra for a new year’s six bowl appearance
3 points for winning a conference championship
3 points for a bowl win (includes national semfinals)
5 points for winning national championship

  • chronoxiong

Without CFB DFS, I will never ever know upcoming draft prospects and what they can and can’t do. I will never know who players like Aaron Burbridge, Kelvin Taylor, Tajae Sharpe, Connor Cook, Wendall Smallwood, Keenan Renolds and many low round picks are. It’s a shame.

It’s BS — The NCAA is one of the most corrupt organizations on Mother Earth, but what are you going to do?
