Im just curious here. I have a head to head going on and we’re dead even as of right now. However, i picked up Mike Nugent for the Giants kicker. I just noticed that somebody named Rosas is their kicker. My question is why did Fanduel have him as the Giants kicker? Anything I can do to fix this? Or is this something you have to be aware of beforehand? I also had Kenny Stills in two leagues and i got zero points for him because the two teams didn’t play today. I sent fanduel a message about Kenny Stills but haven’t received a response yet.

Your mad because you played guys from a game that was announced 3 days ago to be postponed form a hurricane that has dominated the news? If you played people from that game and didn’t realize there was a hurricane in Miami today Fanduel can’t help you.

Once they make the slate they can’t add or subtract from it as some lineups may already be built. Users have to have some common knowledge to know if a guy is actually planning or if there is a hurricane in Miami that might affect the Dolphins playing.

Im not mad. I just thought the players wouldn’t be available if their teams werent even playing. Im not a hardcore fantasy player like you are big dog

  • stylicho

I thought they were playing the game somewhere else.

  • DailyLoser

You shouldn’t be compensated, sorry. The fact you didn’t take Kenny Stills out is baffling. This is real money…your money. How do you have a guy in your lineup who hasn’t been on a team in over a week, and another guy who’s game was cancelled days ago?

The player pool does not change once it’s posted. The sites get their contests out early for week 1 and there are multiple guys in the pool who didn’t make the final 53.

Just being honest here, not trying to be a dick, but at the end of the day you need to know if a guy is actually on a team or not. You can’t just blindly pick people and not expect things like that to happen

You don’t need to be a big player to know not to play guys from a PPD game that was all over the news starting last Thursday. It sounds like you should play Draftkings instead. They also can’t remove players once a slate is created but they did go an extra step to mark all the affected players names in red and had banners all over the site saying check your lineups due to that game being PPD. Maybe Fanduel does nothing but for how you could click anywhere for the last 4 days without being reminded off that game not playing there is no way any should have played those guys on Draftkings.

I have to disagree. Fantasy football is no different than any other sort of gambling. If i went to a casino and was betting on a sports book you can be assured they would have every last detail up to date. I guess assuming the site can handle that was my mistake. If you had a player on a team that wasn’t even going to play then fanduel should have canceled the entry.

  • mjtaxpro

You’re comparing apples to oranges. With sports betting if they don’t play they can cancel the entry and no one loses anything. With DFS, if they cancel your entry, they lose because they still have to pay out your entry fee to the winners. You’re not playing the house, you’re playing other people. Sure they could have marked those players as out like DK did, but there has to be some personal responsibility as well. If you’re wanting the site to do more of your research for you then DK might be better for you as they are better than FD in this regard. They also cant remove the players from the pool as the leagues were released several weeks ago and people would have already used those players. You cant just delete someone from everyones lineup.

Sorry you had to learn about that the hard way. Download the Rotogrinders app to your phone, I can’t tell you how many times the notifications have saved me from having dead lineups.

Fanduel had it up to date. It was plastered at the top of every page that the game was postponed.

I’ve gotten burned on the kicker stuff before – that can happen. I think it was last year with Miami. Take that one as a lesson learned but don’t beat yourself up too much about it.

They were kicking around the idea of moving the Dolphins game earlier in the week, but yeah that one you shoulda caught.

Neither one of those is the responsibility of FD obviously, but since I think it is very important for the sites to cater to the casual player, I wouldn’t mind seeing them do something like offer a small free roll to players who are under a particular lifetime volume threshold, who happened to roster a TB or MIA guy yesterday.

Don’t give a refund, but still make the casual player feel like the site isn’t just running them over. Even though it isn’t FD’s fault or responsibility, I think it is good business long term.

I don’t play Fanduel so they might be totally different but Draftkings sent out emails, Made the players names red with a large O next to them, had a banner on every page saying the game was postponed and no players will receive points. Combine that with the 24/7 news coverage of the incoming hurricane and the coverage that 5-7 games in Florida were cancelled in College sports on Saturday. It was crazy with how this was plastered absolutely everywhere I was couldn’t figure out why they had to go so overboard but after seeing this post it makes a lot more sense. Maybe Fanduel needs to take a page out of Draftkings book and drive everyone nuts with notifications every time you log in that a cancelled game has occurred. They should defiantly follow Draftkings and eliminate the kicker spot since that never made any sense to me why in fantasy football you have to pick a kicker in DFS.

Friend of mine that did what you did sent them an email and got a refund. This was a couple of years ago though.

Pretty sure they’re swamped with a lot of people doing the same thing you did, with this being opening weekend. But make no mistake about it, this was your oversight.

      RG Overall Ranking

I’m pretty sure once a contest is posted they can’t alter the player pools in any way, it all has to do with the legality of a contest and posted information about it. What they can do is post warnings about said players in the contest, which they did. I’m pretty sure there was a red or orange banner on every lineups page saying this game was PPD and players from this game would not count. There really isn’t much else they can do once the player pool is posted.

That is my understanding of it.

  • Ibleedblue1

If you just clicked on the Mike Nugent player card it said he was released and even told you the name of the person that would be handling the kicking duties.

Every single time you changed pages on FD there was a huge banner at the top that said the game was PPD and any player would receive 0 points.

This one is kind of 100% on you.

i also lost week 1 and i’d like a refund…wheres the line for refunds?

This is by far the most compassionate post that I observed here addressing the concerns of the OP. And, Ndogg had a great word of advice by suggesting the OP download the Rotogrinder App. But in my opinion many of you were just downright rude and uncaring to this user. His or her last post before this one was in 2015. So when I look at everything he said and the aforementioned piece of information I get the feeling that the OP is new to DFS and all the little things that will bite you that we all take for granted.

But for goodness sake there is no reason to make him feel worse than he already does is there? Did we all not start at ground zero in the beginning? Have you ever thought about the following statement.

They just don’t know what they don’t know!

I agree with the context of what everyone is saying, but there could be some tact implemented when letting the OP know of how he made his shortcoming instead of the way a few of you did it. I constantly hear of the need for new blood to emerge in DFS and there is no better place than Rotogrinders to find some helpful information for the new people, but they will not be around long if they are made to feel shamed in my opinion.

I know that my words will fall upon deaf ears more than likely, but some of the posts on this page made me a little sad and not an image of what the RG community should stand for. We should all be here to help each other even when the mistake was our own doing.

    Thanks,
    Ricky

Sorry about the kicker thing (but that is still something you could easily find out on the internet by doing a search), but the Bucs/MIA game was postponed several days in advance b/c of the hurricane. I remember switching out my lineups last thursday after finding out.

If you makes you feel better the Giants only scored 3 pts. Not sure how long of a FG it was, but if you lost by more than 5 pts it wouldn’t have mattered.
