Pretty weak and will have massive effect on ROIs for everyone. $30,000 additional now going into Fanduel’s pocket instead of players each week, making the total now $300,000 they rake from each pot.

Note that Draftkings rake for equivalent Millionaire Maker is 13.5%. So you should definitely play there if you’re debating between the two sites.

  • AWoo

Well that basically confirms that moving to only main slates to sunday only move for NFL is all about the $ for them tbh. FD getting worse with all these recent changes the past 2 weeks or so.

They didn’t just raise rake on the Sun mil, they jacked it up to 15% ACROSS THE BOARD for all $25 and under entry fee GPP’s, Sun and Thur.

I’m considering moving my play from 100% FD to 100% DK. Of course some type of assurance that DK wont do the same thing next week would be nice and is something we’re not likely to get.

To be fair….they’ve barely raked the tournament at all to this point. (4% last week is what I saw unconfirmed online). Guessing this is to minimize that risk. Hope would be that IF it fills and they find that sweet spot and drop it back down to where it was. We will see though.

Do you think a site will lower rake on a tourney that is filling? I could def be wrong here, but given the greediness displayed by the sites since DFS has boomed, I can’t see this happening.

  • Chuky

Lmao. I expected this. Regulation is a hell of a thing ain’t it? No more auto generated bs lineups winning the Sunday million. It wasn’t done every week but some weeks, it’s always new game winners with like 10 wins or so. That was total nonsense and this just confirm what I thought was happening at times. Look how quickly changes are being made. The watchdogs have arrived. I don’t care what anybody says, my 3 years playing now and I’ve never ever seen no 0 point player in a winning huge football tournament. Regulation is a good thing for consumers.

  • Nobakov

Yup.. Won’t be long before it’s near 20% and the trickle down effect of everyone losing to the rake and before long all that’s left are the big bankroll guys/top few % of winners and the newbs who haven’t lost yet.

The rake will wipe out all the middle eventually(break even, slight winners, slighe losers, etc) unless they have a problem and keep depositing. Way to go DK+ FD!

I don’t really buy that when they made the same rake, um, adjustments to all the other games that have been selling out.

The Sun mil isn’t selling out

    Lets raise the rake

These other 9 games are selling out

    Lets raise the rake

DK’s low-dollar GPPs have already been 15% rake for a while now. At the $7 price point they drop to 13.5%.

I’ve read this three times and I’m still lost. What exactly has been happening that has now been confirmed? And you’re saying this thing that has been happening will no longer be happening?

Agreed. Can’t imagine this is a short term plan. Hopefully they’ll see less demand at a 15% price point and realize its a mistake.

The multiplier rakes don’t seem to have changed, so looks like thats where I’ll have my $ this week. Thankfully, RG has a nifty browser extension that lets you see rake % quick and easy :)

I don’t know why anyone plays on FD, they consistently ignore requests by their customers to improve their product over the years. The pricing sucks and takes weeks to react, especially in the nba. Just last week they “accidentally” cancel guaranteed contest. The product is inferior to the other sites

Stop just stop. Don’t try and sugar coat it because the ACROSS THE BOARD rake increases aren’t going back down. They never do.

Why make this statement when anyone who has been in this industry for as long as you knows there is no chance of the rake ever going down, just up. The main sites are constantly taking away benefits/bonuses/etc for there loyal player base and raising rake. At some point the sites are going to kill the ecosystem for there own games.

Again….I said I’m HOPEFUL they drop it back down. Never said I actually thought it was going to happen. By the games not filling to capacity the first two weeks it sites eyes I’m sure they view it as a “reason” for raising the rake on that game. The wise move would have been to just drop the total entries and kept the rake the same….but Sunday $2M has a much greater ring to it than 1.90 million.

If the the sites cant fill their “Millions” contest, here’s an idea, LOWER THE PRIZES!!! I’m sure just as many people would enter for a chance at 500K or 250K as they will for the million. Then, they wont need as many entrants, can fill the contests, and still make the same relative rake without blaming overlay for rake increases.

Also, looking at the payout for the DK contest Smizz won, good lord… 1st place got 1 million and the guy who got 2nd got 25% of that. The guy who finished 10th out of 277K got a whopping $7.5K. Id rather see flatter payout structures that are easier for the sites to fill at a slightly lower rake % than lottery ticket 1st place prizes that cause contests to go unfilled and sites to increase rake.

Agreed, and it’s only getting worse. Draftkings for example had a $5MM contest that paid $1MM to first in Week 2. Top heavy enough already. Now they dropped that to $4.44MM this week and are still paying $1MM to first. This is a $20 buyin contest which is the range I like to enter about 10-15 lineups.

Unfortunately they offer no alternatives at a similar price point either that have any decent prize pools. My options are now to drop down to $3-9 contests or all the way up to about $150-333. Why can’t they offer a decent sized contest in the $33-100 price range that doesn’t have ridiculous top heavy payouts?

Tend to agree with this…but the obvious answer is they are splitting action at that price point and becomes even more likely they overlay the Milly Maker. I personally would like to see them mix it up a little. Milly Maker $1M first place maybe every other or every 3rd week….and deeper paying GPP in between.

I guarantee that the sites think of this as a profit maximization problem. It seems reasonable to speculate the demand for their biggest tournament is fairly inelastic. Also unlike other tournaments, a lot of the prize pool gets withdrawn from their site instead of being reinvested.

The opposing factor is that they need experienced players to mass enter the tournament, which they will only do if they think they can make a profit. As a player base we need to adjust more to rake with our entries. For example, I hardly enter big double ups with a rake approaching 15% because the prospect of making money is low to none. In a big gpp, a 15% rake is beatable, so I’ll keep playing it.

  • B_Edelman

Thankfully, the 100 mans are still raked at 10%
