ha, my wife seen playboy mansion and knows i knock down cfb gpp’s. she told me i might as well not play. Shit! Like im gonna sit out this one smh.

Same here. Although it probably just means I invest much more heavily in trying to qualify for the Draftkings final in Miami rather than this one.

  • hpharri1994

It seems that Draftkings is attempting to distance themselves somewhat from the fratboy image, but it has obviously worked for them up to this point.

I was disappointed to see Fanduel’s live final taking place at the Playboy mansion, not because I have any problem with Playboy, but because of the stereotypes perpetuated by such events. I was pretty disappointed to see Fanduel sponsoring Floyd Mayweather as well. I guess I’m just not sure what the plan is for the Fanduel brand.

At the end of the day I’m excited to see multiple CFB live finals out there. I can’t wait to see the growth of CFB this year as well as the continued growth of the industry as a whole. I won’t avoid Fanduel’s live final just because it is at the Playboy mansion, although I wouldn’t be able to go anyway as I already have plans that weekend, but I can definitely understand those that would.

Isnt it every guys dream to go to the playboy mansion? Adding to it fantasy sports and the possibility of winning money. How is this a bad thing

No, not really. I mean that sincerely. My reaction was “really?” I get that it would appealing for some, but if DFS is trying to broaden the base, I’m not sure this is the way to do it. To me, there is an entire swath of people – both men and women – who would be interested in DFS but this type of appeal is a turn off. I’m a part of a college football pick em league, for instance, in which 1/3 of the participants are women, including my wife. They’d have zero interest in this type of experience, and that’s who DFS should want playing DFS.

I’m not really a “live final” guy anyway, but I’d attend one if it were local. I’d love to see DFS invest in a series of localized finals/regional tournaments. I live near KC, the heart of college sports in many ways. Why not a college hoops final here along with other places around the country?

Just trying to be constructive. Not a prude. But Playboy Mansion would not be on my bucket list.

No it isn’t every guys dream to go to the playboy mansion. It most definitely isn’t mine, but that isn’t even the point. This industry is still very young and battling to gain legitimacy in the eyes of mainstream America. Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with going to the Playboy mansion, but I also don’t like that when I tell someone I play DFS they automatically think of bikini-clad women and gambling.

Let’s be honest here guys. You are 1000 times more likely to get “in trouble” in Vegas than you are the Playboy Mansion.

While this in fact absolutely true, it’s more about perception.

If I told my wife I won a trip to Vegas, she would be excited and want to go with. She’s been to Vegas and enjoys it there.

But I understand why Fanduel does it. I’m not complaining. I just usually choose not to try to qualify heavily for Playboy Mansion events when there are much better options out there in my opinion. I also don’t have the bankroll to invest much in every live event anyways.

Definitely distancing themselves from the fratboy image with the partnership with Dan Bilzerian.

Get over yourself man no offense. But c’mon if you are mad they sponsored Floyd Mayweather you shouldnt be playing any DFS sports. Im sure ALL of us have clicked and played several guys who are not choir boys.

    The Playboy Mansion isn’t a brothel. C’mon.

Are you telling me you don’t see the difference in using a player in your DFS lineup and making Floyd Mayweather one of the faces of your company/industry?

  • ThatMetsfan

No offense but some of you guys are absolutely whipped. Strong relationship some of you have where your wife is worried about you going to the mansion. Strong insecurities

When I first started playing DFS I asked my wife if she was OK with me going to the Mansion should I be lucky enough to qualify.

Her response was, “I don’t care, it’s not like you’re gonna hook up with a bunny or anything.”

I get where you guys are coming from, but I think it’s being blown a bit out of proportion. It’s a well run event that appeals to a lot of DFS players, but if you don’t like it you have plenty of other options.

    Just my 2¢

This partnership (Playboy Mansion and DFS) does far more good than any negative connotations that it could ever give off. It hits the target audience square on.
The beautiful thing is that we all have the option of not participating (or donating) to any live final or contest we don’t care for.

Actually got “in trouble” in Vegas in March. Seems like I would be on best behavior at Playboy mansion plus it seems like less opportunity for trouble.
Also didn’t a female win a live final at the mansion? Was she in with the frat boys?

Pretty beta stuff in here. You can pretty much do what you want at either the Mansion or Vegas. That’s what makes it great. And Miami? Lol, yeah, thats not an adult playground or anything. The whole “get in trouble” thing is ridiculous, you’re an adult, no one forces you to do anything that makes you uncomfortable. I think the different venues that are offered are a great thing and I look forward to the sites continue to offer events at unique places.

i feel like this sums it up perfectly. 1: playboy association has a negative perception in general (though much less so in the DFS target demographic) 2. if you dont like it you wont play.

What’s the alternative? Vegas and Miami are just as frat-boy targets as PB Mansion… If there was a place that would draw interest as a live final destination that didn’t have the baggage I’d like to hear it because outside Disney World or universal I can’t think of one
