Since when do they edit the slate of games based on weather patterns? That is absurd. Isn’t it always up to us to factor that in, regardless of the sport?

Are they doing this for NBA too?

  • davegomez1952

Worst nhl product out there. to omit a game because of the possibility of a storm???? done with FD nhl for sure.

I agree. And as much as I hate +/-, I think giving points for penalty minutes is even dumber.

All the things that make +/- a garbage stat in reality are what make it good for DFS. Match ups and line combos become really important. Empty net +/- shouldn’t count though…

Completely agree re: PIM’s. Would rather see hits count for half a point and/or fights count for a point. There is no reason to reward someone for a reckless high sticking double minor.

  • djcarr

FD just keeps piling on reasons to abandon them completely. Tons of duplicate, shared, lineups in single entry 5050s of limited size. Playing meteorologist and failing when they shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. There are rules! This isn’t ‘nam!

This is where you are misinformed. There are rules, they are just not always enforced or consistent.

More GREAT ideas for FD NHL scoring…

+1: Player makes other player bleed
-1: Player bleeds from hit / check
    -5: Player makes teammate bleed
-.69: Player checks himself into boards attempting to check other player

Seems to be right up FD scoring alley.

It makes sense to me that they would leave games out that they thought would be postponed. Having players in your lineup that don’t play is a very negative experience for any player. I would rather see these players continue to play instead of giving up early.

Absurd if it is done after posting to the lobby and people enter the contests. Will this be status quo for MLB now?

That’s not what happened though, it was never part of the slate. The game in question actually did play as scheduled.

    Not according to OP.

  • jtwfantasy

The game plays at 7pm ET (lock time), there is little reason to prematurely remove the game.

I wasn’t trying to say that the game was removed after already being included. I was simply stating that FD removed it from the slate of games. I guess I should have specified “prior to posting contests”. This makes it even more absurd too because it forces them to play meteorologist well in advance of impending weather. They should have just left it alone, like DK did, and left it up to us to decide whether we risk using players from any questionable games. That should always be the standard for every sport. If they want to post a warning on their site or app so that noobs don’t fail, I’d be fine with that. It wouldn’t be my choice but I’d be fine with it. Just don’t mess with the slate of games. It was a small enough slate as it was and that was a key game to use.

What’s next? Removing all players that have any sort of injury or have even been a healthy scratch. God forbid some new player makes a stupid play and realizes that they suck..

You said they “edited the slate of games,” which means changed from its original state. If it was never included when posted, then disregard my comments.

Regardless, they excluded a game that was obviously going to play according to the home teams twitter.

And if FanDuel puts the game on the slate and a bunch of players lose money on an indoor event being cancelled in of all states, New York, Then there’s even more fuel for the pending lawsuit in….. New York.

I applaud FanDuel for taking a proactive step in such a time of pressure. Noone had an unfair advantage by having 1 less game on the slate.

Just like I didn’t care about Charlotte/Knicks game not being on today’s slate. You play the hands that you are dealt.

As far as scoring, that’s a whole other issue but to say FD’s product is inferior due to the simple fact that they proactively didn’t include a game is pretty laughable. As previously stated, It’s not like they went back and yanked it from the slate.

Everyone who knew the game was going to be played is at an unfair advantage.

Is it not considered a “slate” until after a fantasy contest is created? I thought a slate of games was simply the scheduled games, regardless of its fantasy relevance. My apologies if I used the term incorrectly. Can someone clarify?

Slate’s are whatever are in the contest.

i.e: Express Slates have few games than Main Slates.

  • Zieg30

FD was overly cautious. There wasn’t anything wrong with this. It is mildly frustrating to artificially have a slate of games reduced by one, but no more than that.

This was an atypical situation and FD did nothing wrong, at all. Of course, if this reflects their new approach to MLB slates, then it could become a problem, since we will lose a lot of games that wind up playing if they exclude any games with storms in the area. I don’t expect that will be the case, however.

I’m certain that the term has been used long before DFS but maybe in a DFS context it relates specifically to games within a posted contest. Either way, I was using the term in its general sense but would like to know for sure if that isn’t legit usage any more. For now, I’ll just make sure to be more specific to avoid any confusion.

    The game was in Carolina.

  • deactivated84892

My bad, that changes everything. FanDuel is dumb and cheated.

  • SA16

    Complainers gonna complain.

    Standard.

There’s nothing wrong with what they did by not including the game and there would have been nothing wrong with keeping it.

I can’t believe what some people get so upset about. If you spent 1/10 the time trying to actually play the game well you might actually make money at it.

Also lol FD NHL. Play on DK instead.
