I always seem to ignore the fact that players collude to bypass entry limits in tournaments but this is just way too obvious. In the $70K Run and Gun, Greensharpie, scenario123 and tabby91 all have filled the last spot on their team with Michael Thomas……of the Rams? He is on injured reserve. I’m sorry but I don’t see any way possible they all end up on him without building their lineups together. Am I wrong to think this?

I get that this is a real issue but why are you complaining if they played a guy that was on IR? And is the rest of their lineup not the same?

Second of all did you ever think that these unfortunate 3 picked the wrong Michael Thomas? Just some thoughts.

  • RoofingMan

It’s not the fact that it hurt them it’s the fact that they maxed out the entries with him in all of them. The wrong Michael Thomas was owned in 9% of the lineups overall. Those 3 accounted for all of it in a 3000 entry field.

I don’t believe that this is a case of collusion. Rather, I think this is a situation where each of these users used a projection system that mistakenly gave the projected stats for the Saints’ Michael Thomas to the Rams’ Michael Thomas – who (not surprisingly) has a much lower salary. I have almost made the same mistake myself, but I have always caught the mistake because I only submit one lineup on FantasyDraft and I enter it manually. I’d bet that each of these users uploaded all their entries (using the CSV feature) and didn’t actually look at the lineups once they were on the website. So, they never noticed that the wrong Michael Thomas was being assigned too many projected points.

Yeah, clearly their optimizer/or DFS tout site had the wrong Michael Thomas in there. This seems like the least collusion-y collusion ever.

OP, I know all of those guys. They give money to charity so can you back off, please?

What does giving to charity have to do with this? I don’t doubt this was a mistake, but it it were collusion, should giving to charity make it OK?

I think it was an attempt at a joke

Yeah, it was. It is my go to whenever collusion comes up. Back a couple of years ago when the Chipotle brothers were under fire for (alleged) colluding one of them stated that they gave to charity when he was in here defending himself.

If I were to contribute anything to this thread, I guess I would ask OP why he is complaining when 9% of the field is drawing dead essentially? And, if this was some great scheme, you think 4 guys would be making lineups together and not one would notice they had the wrong Michael Thomas? Some guy above probably nailed it with the Optimizer having the wrong guy. If you want some real collusion, look back at the Chipotle brothers thread. You will never convince me what they were doing was on the up and up…

Do these guys even look at the exposures and re-run the opto till they get it how they want. Not to mention glancing at the lineups.

Is it really that much of an advantage anyway? I mean it’s still a limited number of participants so lets say 300k players to really have an advantage seems like you’d have to have a really significant amount of entries like maybe 30k minimum to increase your odds 10% over everyone else, i’m sure it’s more exponentially but still in a $20 contest they’d be betting 600k to win a million and could still lose everything.

I saw something in one of my contests last week or the week before where one guy placed like 12 lineups all exactly the same I think the max prize was 3k but at one point he was in first place and his 12 lineups were winning like 1k each or something rough numbers I dont remember exactly but the total was way more than 3k split 12 ways? Is that what you guys are talking about? That definitely seemed fishy but the guy ended up losing anyway.

  • libra989

Of course it was more than 3k split 12 ways, it was 1st thru 12th place combined and then split 12 ways.

  • bluehaze013

Ahhh OK thanks, still learning, only been doing this for the last 6 weeks or so, didn’t know how the ties worked.
