Is anyone else having trouble getting paid out by Fantasy Up? I submitted a withdrawal request for some of my funds over a month ago but I still haven’t been paid, despite the fact that I have exchanged many emails with them They keep promising that funds will be paid out shortly but then they go radio silent until I email them again.

Does anyone have any recommendations about what I should do if they continue to fail to pay? I would prefer not to take legal action because of the cost and inconvenience (and because up until now they’ve provided a good service) but at this stage I don’t know what other options I have.

Admin Note: This situation was eventually resolved when FantasyUp player accounts were purchased by the iTeam Network. Gabe Hunterton’s post is copied below. You can also read it on page 30 of this thread:

    iTeamGabe’s (Gabe Hunterton, CEO) post:

I’m happy to be the bearer of good news. As Dustin from LSR reported yesterday, iTEAM Network has executed an agreement with FantasyUp. When we heard about the situation a couple weeks ago, we decided to do something about it.
We announced today an agreement with the former owners of FantasyUp to acquire the www.fantasyup.com domain and customer data. Paying back FantasyUp players was the key component in this deal. No one affiliated with the original FantasyUp has any involvement whatsoever moving forward.
After you activate your account, your funds will be immediately available for withdrawal, although we do hope you give us a chance to earn your trust and loyalty by playing in our contests. We think you will appreciate our first class customer support and our unwavering commitment to game integrity. To welcome you to the new FantasyUp.com, we’re putting on a series of overlay contests exclusively for FantasyUp players, beginning with the “FantasyUp – Fresh Start” contest; that features a $1,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool, with a Maximum of 1,100 entries and a buy in of just ONE CENT!
While you’re playing, take a look at our unique software features like our patented “Sweat List” which shows you not only who you are rooting for, but just as importantly, who you are rooting against. Since launching five months ago, we’ve made significant investments and built our software development team to over 40 full time employees. You can expect major product development and innovation from us throughout 2016.
Getting the site up-and-running and paying back players is a complex challenge involving technical, practical and regulatory hurdles affecting thousands of player accounts. We ask for your continued patience as we work together through this process, particularly if you reside in one of the banned jurisdictions.
We have just begun the process of sending an email to all users who have an existing account balance.
For further information about our agreement with FantasyUp and how it affects you, we are regularly updating the FAQ page at www.fantasyup.info. In addition, you can email us anytime at support@fantasyup.com.

Such a black eye for DFS

  • carp

Everyone file complaints with the Resolution Center at paypal.com

  • bruyns

The fact that they weren’t paying out in November and continued to accept deposits while knowing they didn’t have funds to payout is unethical and doesn’t seem legal.

  • bruyns

I’ve cashed out more than I gave them through Paypal deposit so I imagine they won’t be a big help.

  • carp

Same here although it was last year. I had over 5k in there today with 4500.00 pending withdrawl from Nov.

That’s BS, I only had $900 but obviously I’m still pissed they can keep my $900. It also brings up the question is any bankroll safe on a DFS site if they can claim the well is dry and they can’t pay up, close up shop and keep everyone’s $$$.

    Hi Keith,

We are happy to mail you a check. However, due to the unforeseen circumstances with Paypal, we will be holding off on check withdrawals until after the New Year. This will allow for us to properly verify customer credentials and winnings to the IRS prior to the end of the calendar year.

Our apologies for this inconvenience, but we had some tax reporting issues that has us more cautious this year. We’ve gone ahead and declined your request and your funds have been returned to your account.

    Kind Regards,

    - FantasyUp Support

Could you guys confirm my withdrawal will be coming eventually. I booked a trip to Vegas and paid for it on a credit card I had planned on paying it off with my withdrawal.

It took less than a minute to deposit. I expect a check mailed out tomorrow.
    Thanks Keith

Mail me a check then please.

    Hi Keith,

We apologize for the delayed response.

As of November 30th, Paypal has limited our account access due to their new internal Fantasy Sports policies:

Per PayPal, “Under PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy, merchants operating fantasy sports businesses are permitted to use PayPal’s services only with our approval. We have recently adopted new processes and requirements associated with the approval of fantasy sports businesses in response to various developments, including evolution of fantasy sports businesses models and heightened focus on fantasy sports by lawmakers, law enforcement agencies and our payment industry partners.”

FantasyUp is fully cooperating with their newly changed requirements and are awaiting for renewed approval. Due to this being a first occurrence, we do not have an ETA, but we do anticipate it will require several week(s) to regain approval.

We apologize for this inconvenience, as FantasyUp has prided itself on providing the best customer service. We look forward to serving you.

    Kind Regards,

    - FantasyUp Support

Good morning. Just checking on the status of my withdrawl.
    Thanks

Becuase I (and many others) got screwed by FantasyUP. They just shut down their site saying theres no money left, sorry for the inconvenience. Its time to start being extra careful, as DFS players. That amount was 1/2 my bankroll. No wonder DFS is a legal question.

  • tabanfar27

Did not receive my withdrawal check. I have filed a claim with paypal. I believe the company was taking as much money as possible with good promos knowing they were keeping every penny.

This is an extreme example of why the DFS world cannot be counted on to regulate itself. From its inception, FantasyUp promised that player funds were safe and maintained in a separate account. Obviously, they were lying.

I think at minimum, the police need to be notified to determine if somebody is criminally responsible for losing depositor funds. Does anybody have a plan for legal action? I think it’d be tough to get money from the broke degen responsible for this company.

  • walkoff9

In this aspect id compare it to offshore gambling, stick to the well known big reputable sites.

  • KindGuy

Yep. Stick to the Big Three.

  • KindGuy

I’m so so sorry for all of you guys. My condolences go out to all of you guys who have been basically robbed of your hard work.

Just another reason why we should ALL stick to the Big Three- FD, DK, Yahoo.

  • MrFantasy

I obviously hate seeing any site shutdown like this and this is not the first one to do so but they gave out virtually an unlimited bonus and charged no rake. Is it really a surprise to people that something like this could happen?

  • Jason10

I am considering taking my money out of every account except FD and DK.

Ya but at the least, we as players, know whatever goes down, we should at the absolute very least get our money back. According for the “separate funds” B.S.

Yea, but come on… no rake? That’s actually crazy. Apparently once that promotion ended everyone left the site.

Is it illegal for a firm like this to use deposits to fund operations?

  • bruyns

I don’t agree with only playing on FD and DK, Other sites offer different types of games and I have made way more money off of other sites. We will see what the fallout is in this situation, but there are other DFS sites I trust and that have plenty of action.

“I obviously hate seeing any site shutdown like this and this is not the first one to do so” What other sites shut down without paying out? I wasn’t on it but heard of Ballr but they paid out players and shutdown.

  • Yukonyaks

These guys basically said to us “Sorry our corporation ran out of money and we are not giving you your funds” And then just hiding behind their corporate shield. Bullshit! When there is fraud involved that shield disappears and the principals become liable. And it is looking fraudulent to me.

  • dsiman

this is a joke. I just lost well over a grand…..

  • dsiman

I am outraged right now. They cant even give back what I deposited? please tell me you guys want to take some kind of action against this company.

  • dsiman

I have screenshots of the money I had left. Is there anything we can do guys?
