    FantasyDraft Rep

    Hey Guys and Girls,

We are considering making a change to our PGA roster construction/scoring.

For those of you that play PGA, would you prefer to see a draft 7 with top 6 scores counting over the current format of 6 golfers?

We value the opinion of RotoGrinders users so your feedback is much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Steve
    CEO

Feedback Bonus: Anyone who provides their opinion will get entry into a PGA freeroll next week for some FantasyDraft swag.

This is a good debate, keep it coming.

The status quo seems to be the overwhelming winner but it feels like the 6 of 7 could be gaining steam.

  • TheImmortalGoud

At this point the golf product is pretty much the same as DK, so for me there is currently no reason for me to play on FantasyDraft. I would be more likely to play on FantasyDraft if there was 6/7. Also get rid of the hole in one bonus (I think everyone here would agree with this).

Have you guys thought about maybe just making it 7 golfers to pick instead of 6? You would be forced to adjust pricing which also seems to be a side issue. I don’t think anyone would be against picking another golfer?

I’d prefer 7. Either way, I love the site and will continue playing.

Would also prefer play 7 keep 6 and echo the DK pricing comment. Quit playing there because of that and increasing the cap on entries (wish you’d lower it back down)

I prefer the pick 6 as it currently stands. The pricing if it copies dk really takes away the incentive to play there. I also like the idea of removing placing bonus except for top 3 or 5. Please don’t change it to victiv or whatever that was called.

I like the idea of 6 out of 7, and know a lot of people enjoyed it on Victiv (think they were the ones that had something similar). I am all for any tweaks to the standard format, will make it fun + different and give people an added incentive to try FantasyDraft. Plus that way you are not dead if 1 guy misses the cut. Might work to keep more people interested for all 4 rounds. The way it is now, if 1 guy misses the cut you can be pretty sure you won’t win any big prizes in gpp’s. Tough to alter what is tried and true, but think it is a better experience overall, especially for newer players and those playing limited lineups.

6/7 got my interest especially since i really suck at current 6/6

FantasyDraft is just Draftkings 2.0 with PGA except with prize pools for PGA that dont even reach 5K when DK is offering 500K GPPs. So, Why play FantasyDraft for no money upside in a FOUR day event with the same format? Be different, might be able gain new customers. Just my 2 cents.

I’m for price changes. Neutral on 6 of 7.

How about 8 golfers total, no drop?

  • Andy6789

I think the 6 out of 7 would be interesting, I would like to see the pricing changed a bit from DK’s. Besides that a few more tournament options would be nice, besides that I have been enjoying playing PGA on FantasyDraft so far this season.

Yup. We used to have a lot of options (DK, Victiv, Feud, Aces, Draftday) and all the games were different (some very much so). I played a little on FantasyDraft (won their $25 for the Travelers, thanks Russell Knox) but have hardly played there at all this golf season as the game is currently a crappier version of the already mediocre (or worse, depending on pricing) DK game.

As an aside, the $3 Euro event at 7058 entries was won with a lineup with 5/6 making the cut.

Also is there any chance of you guys at Fantasy Draft offering Euro contests.

I’m kind of curious to see how the 7 for 6 would play out. Initial thought is it diminishes skill, but I’m not so sure that’s the case.

  • tigmus

I’m also for 7 golfers since it differentiates from the other product in the industry (DK) and gives me more of a reason to play there.

  • whodat2

I don’t know why 6 is the magic ending number in golf? I mean, come on, think outside the box. Has nobody thought about, let’s say 12 golfers and double the salary. I mean there are usually 144 golfers in a normal event. Can you imagine going into the weekend with a 12/12? The variance would be so great because there would be so few “dup”, or chalk lineups.

And yeah…. that would TOTALLY differentiate yourself.

And I would sign up tomorrow for that format.

Fine with me. I just want to see something different than the 6/6 with high positional bonuses. I agree with the latter sentiments of this thread in that this is a great opportunity for FantasyDraft to come up with something different than what we have seen on DK.

I also don’t see why we are so consumed with having to be perfect in DFS to win. If you want people to continue playing, allow them to win with a little bit of error. That’s where the 6/7 idea fits nicely.

I just want to add on a few points.

I feel like FantasyDraft has a unique opportunity to do something special here. With you being the 3rd biggest site now, FantasyDraft needs to embrace that, but not follow DraftKings every move like you obviously have been doing. Make your site, YOUR site. Do not be so simple that you (and so obviously so) just copy everything DK does for PGA right down to the salary. That actually turnes potential customers AWAY, atleast in my case anyway.

I mean this with nothing but the utmost respect also. But just putting it out there, but why play your $25 PGA GPP with upside for $300 1st place when I can use that can sam money for upside of $50K? PGA is not a one night event where people say cool I lost last night, lets try again tonight. PGA is a 4 day event, and if FantasyDraft wants to be a contender you need to 1) stop copying draftkings every move and 2) make the GPPs worth sweating for 4 days.

I know I have not played FantasyDraft PGA this year but thats not because I do not like their site. As an average consumer im not going to join a site and spend $25 for a lineup for a max win of like $400 (which your PGA contest seem to be) when that same $25 can be used on DK (using your copied format) for way more money upside. I also know your are not at DKs consumer level, but I think most people can agree sweating out a 4 day event for a max upside of $400 or so is not high on our list.

I would focus on getting new customers and getting your GPPs sizes to a point where people will play and the best way to do that is to not copy DraftKings. That is a 1v1 you will lose. Be different. No one ever became a leader of anything by copying its master.

I have just started playing PGA DFS and I like the 6 of 6. I would prefer you stay with the 6 of 6.

  • QSchoolDropOut

I like it the way it is.

This week Justin Rose was 40 percent owned.

If we got to pick 7 golfers, Rose would have been close to 80 percent owned.

It’s not as much fun when everyone has the same golfers.

The higher the number of spots you need to fill, the more lineups converge to a similar theme. If you had to choose 12 golfers, 3/4 golfers every week would be astronomically owned.

Similarly, if you could only pick 4 golfers, it means that the top guys would be lower owned as you couldn’t fit more than 1 in etc.

If you do go for 6/7 counting method, a lot of people (myself included) would just pick the cheapest player, and have an even more chalky 6 players that could make the cut… Just something for people to think about when debating the “drop lowest score” method of DFS

  • sgrignoli3

Maybe draft 6 + 1 bench spot…the bench player only counts if he makes the cut and 1 (or more) of your 6 starters doesn’t make the cut?

I’d like 6 of 7 as it provides a different strategy element similar to Victiv back in the day. Making this move would significantly increase my play on the site and provide an opportunity to write FantasyDraft specific content on Rotogrinders.

    Please make this change!
