With the popularity of the “FCK Challange” run by @FishCakeKing I decided to run a low-stakes Mini FCK Challenge for those who want to follow along. Each night that the FCK Challenge runs (weeknights with 5 or more NBA games) we will enter the $1 Single-Entry GPP on DK (Daily Dollar). If you are interested in playing, your username should be listed below. At the end of the night each night, I will open the CSV for the $1 “Daily Dollar” and use the VLOOKUP function in excel to match each player’s score to the leaderboard. The results are located on a Google Spreadsheet at this link.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FI619zKhQ0xu0qYo1ikSirEgN5eQLlUFGQ6zyGHk7_E/edit?usp=sharing

Players listed in the above spreadsheet have paid $10 and confirmed entry. At the end of the contest period (March 2nd), we will determine a winner. The winner will be the player with the lowest average finish position. For example, 69 players are participating. First place is worth one point while 69th is worth 69. We will drop each player’s lowest two finishing positions. So if a player has a 1st, 12th, 35th, 67th, and 69th their total finish score is 1+12+35= 48. The lower the score the better.

At the completion of the contest, prizes will be paid as follows:

    1st: $200
    2nd: $100
    3rd: $70
    4th: $65
    5th: $60
    6th: $55
    7th: $50
    8th: $40
    9th: $30
    10th:$20
    Total: $690

We will play the following slates:
Game Dates: Starting Jan 25th every 5 game+ slate till we finish
Game Dates: (at the request of some guys who have been playing for years no sat and sun)
    Jan 26,27,28,29
    Feb 1,2,3,5,8,9,10,19,22,23,24,25,26,29
    Mar 1,2

Thanks for playing everyone! Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!

I think that each persons DK score should be adjusted based on the average of dk score of the night. Say for example, a player score 290 on a really low scoring night but another player score 295 on a really high scoring night, then IMO that 290 is much more impressive. Adjusting the scores really shines the light on the better DFS player.

personally, i think the accumulated points should be based on where you finish relative to the group.

if you come in 1st, you get 1 point, 2nd, 2 points, etc.

and at the end of the challenge those who finished with the least amount of points would win.

this eliminates the idea that different scoring nights can affect the overall outcome.

    Alright guys. Some quick updates:

    1. Day 2 Scores are added. What I do each night is download the CSV for the $1 Daily Dollar and use VLOOKUP to match each player’s score. VLOOKUP didn’t find a score for six people last night. Bretboy responded above that $1 was full so he joined Daily Dollar. Please send me the link.

As far as the other five are you planning to drop last night? EJWOLF and Getdiswork haven’t played either day. I assume boht of you are dropping out. Is that correct? (As a reminder we drop the worst two scores at the end).

    2. Everyone should have received a DM from me on here with payment information. We have 39 confirmed and paid entries so far. Please get your payment in by Saturday and if you are planning to wait until you get paid on Friday please let me know. I plan to drop unpaid/confirmed players on Saturday or Sunday to make the spreadsheet cleaner.

    3. Please take a look at the Google doc and verify that your scores from Day 1 and Day 2 are correct and also that your payment status is correct on the paid tab. This weekend I will update the original post above with correct payouts once we know the number of confirmed entries.

    4. We need to finalize the official scoring. When I started this thread I said we would use cumulative scoring minus your worst two scores. I didn’t realize the main FCK Challenge actually uses finishing position.

If enough are in favor we can switch to finish position instead. The more I think about it finishing position is more fair. Some slates are really high scoring while others are low scoring.

If we go the finishing position route I will update the spreadsheet to list finishing position among our group each day. A first place finish is 1 point while last will be about 60 (depending on paid/confirmed) The lowest score would be the winner after dropping your two worst (highest) scores.

  • Thomas21

I prefer finishing position as not all 290s and 300s are created equally. Also, my score is correct in the spreadsheet.

I think I agree with this. I just updated the spreadsheet to reflect finishing position. Unless someone feels very strongly in favor of cumulative scoring we will use finish position instead. This will also help a little for anyone who misses a day. Getting last place should be a lot better than getting a 0 while someone else scores 340.

P.S. Are you guys able to sort? I have it currently sorted by finishing position. Sorting by cumulative scoring has the same person in 1st but 2-70 are different.

I like the way it’s set up, the only thing I would change is the half point for ties. I think everyone who ties should get full place (17 instead of 17.5). Also Seth, you put yourself in 175th place on the 26th

  • dpadilla

And as far as points vs finishing position I also think position is fine with points as a tiebreaker

Thanks for the heads up. I fixed my 175 to 17.5. As far as ties, I think it needs to be the fractional finish. If two people tie for 17th they should get 17.5 each. That 0.5 could make a difference. You have to remember that the difference between 1 and 2 is a point. If two players have a 1,17 and 1, T17 rounding would give them the same finish points which isn’t accurate.

P.S. I’ll re-calculate finish points once we drop out everyone who doesn’t pay.

P.P.S. Total points will be the tiebreaker in the event that people tie using finishing position.
