Draftkings has also posted a Q&A page Here

  • BigRay

FTC is right. These two companies should not be allowed to merge.

  • Olhausen

I had a pretty strong feeling this was going to happen and I agree with BigRay that it shouldn’t.

  • Chance

Good this merger should be blocked.

  • ehylton

    Good news!!

  • celtics2448

Maybe they’ll start competing with each other again? This is only good for the customers.

  • manBEAST

I just don’t get it, don’t know much about business but this merger seemed like it was not going to get approved from the start. If this truly was a hail mary from the sites, it is going to be interesting to see the size of NFL contests this year.

Wonder how much time, energy, and cost went into this possible merger maybe they should investigate breaking up into smaller sites in the future idk seems logical, more competition = better product for consumers.

  • yisman

I don’t see it could be allowed when they would have such a huge percentage of the DFS industry.

I wish they’d compete with each other to make it better for users.

  • Zieg30

Unless the choice was between this merger and NO DFS (e.g. the companies aren’t going to be viable without a merger), then the proposed merger was going to be horrible for DFS’ers. I really hope it is successfully blocked, as there are currently no legitimate competitors at this point.

  • sabresrock29

Expected that one to happen. When 2 large companies have more than 90% of the market share and want to merge, of course it’ll get a look from the FTC under antitrust / monopoly laws.

  • Jvanspro

Best news I’ve read today. The merger would be horrible for players.

  • WidumBoise

    DK and FD,

    You must be….THE MONOPOLY GUY!

  • WidumBoise

    New football products, eh?

Interested to see what is in store. Prob be some arcade mode type spinoff just like MLB for NFL.

  • sochoice

    • 2017 DraftKings FBWC Finalist

    • 2017 FanDuel WFFC Champion

Guess what? Neither FD or DK need this merger anymore. Lobbying/legal costs are stabilizing and will decline soon and the amount of play has remained strong since football season. If deal ultimately falls apart, this will turn out to be good news for players, the companies and the private equity firms who own these companies.

  • desertdanny

Perfect timing with the FSTA going on in NY.

Great news. Better for other industry operators if there’s no monopoly & ultimately better for the players. Fantasy Aces bankruptcy couldn’t have helped. Given that the FTC remove their revenues from the market share calculations, it’s likely they viewed DraftKings & FanDuel’s share at around 97%.There’s no chance they would ever buy their argument that they’re part of a wider “fantasy sports market” that includes season-long sites.

  • UncleRicoQB1

The two companies combined own 90% of the daily fantasy business.

  • cy1985

That is good. I want competition, choices.

  • Defjux41

The only damper on the “great news” is when DK and FD raise rake again to offset “rising operational costs” aka not being able to merge.

If you think this is great news you are amazingly short sighted. These companies need to merge in order to pool resources, How do you expect them to afford lobbying expenses and lawyer expenses for DFS if they are not merged. Also the rake is going to go up since now these companies are really going to be behind the eight ball to raise revenue and show profitability again if you think about for more than a second this is bad for the future of DFS

  • CJtheGrump

“…in the best interest of our players…” Are they even listening to the players at this point?

  • gravitymaze

Just can’t believe people really thought this would happen. If you have ever followed the stock market then you would know they simply don’t allow such a merger without competition.

I think the smart thing would have been to infuse a small upstart company with a loan to help it at least be a big three. Sorry but people want other choices.

  • jimmyrad

First company to go back to 10% GPP rake and mostly 10% to first standard pay structures gets 100% of my business going forward. Starting,,, NOW!

Maybe they should’ve thought about that when they were spending $$$ like drunken sailors on their advertising campaigns?

If they cared about DFS they wouldn’t have squashed college sports and maybe, just maybe, they would’ve listened to the voice of the common man throughout the years.

This merger is and always was D.O.A.

One would think if these leaders were that “smart” they’d seen this coming as nothing more than a wasteful futile effort.

  • KindGuy

I almost cried tears of joy when I opened up my inbox and saw the email.

But if DK tries to use this as an excuse to raise the rake above 15%, I’m taking 100% of my business to Yahoo.

I thought college sports was squashed by NCAA and others, not DK and FD.
