what are some of your guy’s opinions on NBA for DK and FD. Which do you think is better and why?

  • rotoryan

If you are new to hoops on both sites, I recommend trying both and ultimately playing more volume on the site in which you win more.

I like both. I will say the NBA can be a dumpster fire in March/April with late scratches, etc. Late swap on DK helps combat this issue. It’s not quite as big a deal first couple months of the season.

  • BreakingBacon

while I do like the late swap for DK, mainly due to what ryan said above me, I can’t stand the additional half point bonus you get for three pointers, I don’t understand why you need to give bonus points when you’re already getting that additional point.

played solely FanDuel last season. Their prize pools were consistently bigger and I like being able to watch the games without worrying about late swap. Also late swap reduces the edge somewhat imo as it let’s people that aren’t paying attention prior to lineup lock fix the errors of their ways.

Kind of ironic that I am saying this because after Aldridge was a late scratch last season and cost me a small fortune I was all kinds of mad ha ha.

  • MrFantasy

I like FanDuel way more, the roster format is easier and the games seemed way softer to me. Really looking forward to this NBA season.

  • walkoff9

Last year FD had much bigger prize, dont think that will be the case this year.

Most people tend to feel strongly about the late swap one way or the other so id suspect thats how most people choose.

I’ve heard this before, do a lot of people find it easier to win in NBA on fanduel than on Draftkings?

  • yoshi2132

Fanduel for sure, unless you want to sit watching your computer all night long. It’s much better to just lock you lineup at 7 and hope you picked all the right picks instead of worrying all night.

aleo, DK makes it much harder in finding value players. If a starting player is out for a while, and his backup does good for the 1st night, DK usually raises his price right away, while FD takes awhile to raise it.

  • shark61350

Personally, I prefer DK because of the flex F,G, & Utility position.

  • theoddsmaker

    FanDuel

I hate late swap for NBA. Yes sometimes the late scratches suck but we ALL have to deal with them. With late swap you have to stress/worry/check and make sure you are having your lineup in the best position all night. Sometimes it’s nice to shut down the laptop once games start and surrender control and get back to real life.

FD’s GPPs for Tuesday sure are TINY. Even with the unknown factor of state’s possibly banning DFS, you’d think the growth alone of DFS would have easily made up for that and more compared to where we were last year, but no, FD went down on GPP prize pools. DK’s are much more reasonable for Tuesday. With that said, it’s only Tuesday so guess we can at least give it a week before seeing how high GPP pools start.

Personally, I also prefer DK slightly more for the flex though it’s not as “flexible” as Aces and was toned down compared to two years ago. Also FD forcing you to take x2 per position CAN be annoying though at times it can also feel like an edge depending on slate.

  • tmarohl

I would say play Fanduel, but that is because I hate Draftkings. Everything about that site other than late swap is goofy.

Feel like I’m the only one who believes this. I prefer FD for NBA. 2 of each position and 1 center rather than having flex and utility. No thanks DK

Well, that makes two of us.

  • KRD227

Another vote for try them both. For whatever reason I prefer FD for NBA and DK for football. I think FD is less time consuming for me to make lineups and I like to set it and forget it (no late swap) for NBA. Good Luck!

  • cleanslate

Mostly just a preference issue, I like to play on both. DK is a bit sharkier b/c of the late swap and roster flexibility (both of which tend to benefit more serious players). FD is more newbie friendly b/c rosters lock after the 1st game and there is no roster flexibility at all (and no utility spot). This is oversimplified but most people would probably agree with this summary.

Late swap for NBA is a very hot topic and you will probably find yourself on one side of the argument or the other at some point, in which case that will likely determine where you spend a lot of your money/action.

Just be mentally prepared to get burned at some point during the season if you play on FD b/c it is next to impossible to not have at least a few nights where a guy you have heavy exposure to is announced as being out or is a late scratch after the early games have already started and locked your rosters in the contests. This usually happens with west coast games, and trust me, it will happen. If you can’t handle that then play most of your action on DK.

To me that’s the game inside the game. Do you put a couple of lineups with a player with questionable injury status who could give you a serious leg up on everyone if he plays, or give you a goose egg if he doesn’t.

I did have one of those games you’re talking about when they scratched Eric Bledsoe out of nowhere. I think it was for the birth of his child. Nothing you can do about that.

  • HoovaDeuce82

I much prefer FD for NBA simply due to pricing. DK was very tight with NBA pricing last yr. For day 1’s slate this yr though it looks much better. Hope they keep it up and I’ll start playing on both. As of now I play all NFL on DK and all NBA on FD

  • einars

i FD much much better. primarily because i win there and i dont win on DK. Tho i do like the no late swap.

  • xdan3220

I prefer Fanduel for NBA, agree with what some others have said about the late swap but ultimately for that I think it comes down to who you are playing that night. I have money in both sites so if one night I find that the guys I want to play are all in late starting games I’ll probably play DK that night and nights I’m mainly on 7 pm games I’ll be Fanduel. That said I strongly prefer the point system and lineup construction on Fanduel, Fanduel you get the extra roster spot so I think that almost always favors players who are doing the research.

  • OneShotKill17

+1 for playing both and if one seems to suit your game more, continue there or maybe both work for you and you can continue to play both.

  • mrchuffy

Surprised everyone likes FD more. I like the roster construction on DK way more than FD. On smaller slates having to choose two small forwards just blows on FD. I like the ability to play 3 point guards or 2 centers, definitely more fun to have the roster flexibility.

  • Brian6035

DK for everything. Primarily because my main focus is golf but also because FD is ownership is all overseas where as DK ownership is in the United states and i prefer to keep my money here…Correct me if I’m wrong…

Same here but looks like I’m going to be playing mostly FD now. DK got rid of the BIG 50/50s apparently and all the 50/50s look to be 20 man. No thanks don’t feel like playing against 10+ pros in a 20 field 50/50

  • JaNelson38

The late swaps alone are a huge benefit for DK. I was burned out of two monster cashes last year at FD during NBA season for surprise inactive/DNP, and I basically said never again there for NBA – at least until they get late swaps. Late lineup surprises affect NBA more than any other league.

The roster construction is a bonus, too. Basically having 3 flex spots in an 8-man lineup creates wonderful unique opportunities and really makes you think about how to put together your lineup, not just plug-and-play per position.
