That doesn’t just include the ACC, the horrible AAC, the Big 12, Big 10, SEC, and Pac 12. Woohoo!!

Happy to see Murray State finally available. All I have to say is, what the hell took so long? What changed? Because they are in the NIT? It is not like their regular games are not on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU/FS1/NBCSN/MSG/ETC.

    /end rant.

Happy for the NIT for this one reason.

So who do people like on tonight’s slate?

As has been stated multiple times, it has nothing to do with the game being on TV, it has everything to do with the Stats Provider. Unless those teams are in the Top 25 you can’t get live stats feeds, which the sites prefer to avoid, especially during conference season. Obviously the NIT gives them a feed (or enough of a feed) that they can do it.

    Why are OlePiss/BYU not listed?

Murray State was in the top 25. Never saw them.

Northern Iowa and Wichita State have been in the top 25 basically all year, I haven’t seen much of them, if at all. I am assuming they might’ve on maybe once, because I didn’t play every single day, but I never saw them.

Gonzaga was in the top 25 a lot too, I don’t remember seeing them often.

    Old Dominion, never saw them.

Being ranked is certainly not the only criteria, so acting like it is anything but a bias towards the bigger conferences is just silly.

    Neither is Hampton/Manhattan.

While this is how it has been explained throughout the season, allow me to play devil’s advocate.

When the “live stats feed” is wrong and has to be fixed after the game ends anyway – which has been standard operating procedure, why should games without “live stats feeds” be off the board so to speak?

That’s what I’ve been saying all year. I get the company line, but who cares if the stats aren’t updated until the end of the game? I would rather have some better options and it would likely lead to better overall play, instead of just having 2 games on a Monday Night, you might have 6 or 7.

  • bbjay20

Any reason FD doesn’t have a play-in game slate? The four games aren’t included anywhere and could make for a nice two-day mini-slate.

That would require thinking or innovation. I would imagine they don’t want to add 4 other teams if they don’t have to – to their database – when they have the NIT to play with. Less work? Who knows. Maybe they don’t want to start the slate at 6:40?

(No idea why the original quote didn’t work)

While I don’t disagree with your overall premise (I would personally love to see Murray State, Gonzaga etc throughout the year, hell I’d love to have some Ivy/MAAC Friday night games), FanDuel and DK have made it abundantly clear that they care about the casual player being able to go in and build CBB rosters. While a casual player may even know about a Murray State, they sure as hell don’t know anything about Eastern Illinois or Austin Peay.

While there is a great core group of CBB regulars who would love it, they can’t turn off the casual person either.

  • Joe1Coal

I guess. I don’t know if NCAAB is big enough to really turn off anyone. If anything turns off players in NCAAB, it is the fact that contests are full by lunch time or 3pm on the bigger slate nights, or nights where there is less NBA action. But, the tournament is upon us, so I won’t be bitter anymore. Going to try to win a few tickets into the madness, I have one, so another one or two would be extremely helpful.

I do agree with this as well. I’ve been saying all year that I couldn’t care less about live stats, especially in the non-conference schedule when they were throwing up basically no games. The sites made it clear though that the “casual player” cares about live stats so it’s not something they like to do.

Live Scoring is one of the main reasons they charge such exorbitant rake. Without it what exactly are we paying for? I personally feel like they should simply create their own stat feed. It may be a few seconds behind as stats are “confirmed” but it’d be a hell of a lot cheaper than Stats Inc

Once again, I’m not necessarily agreeing with the sites on how they are handling it (I’ve been pretty vocal against a lot of what they have done this year), but there is at least some sense of logic and reasoning behind why they are doing things this way.

Just finished up an NIT plays article, should be hitting the front page soon – won’t be incentives either

I don’t sit and watch the live feed, I have things going on. I’ll check my phone now and again, but sitting and watching the live feed is rough. That’s like pulling your hair out and why you see so many people freaking out on the NBA discussion board all the time. If I’m watching the games, sure I’ll throw it on, but most nights I cannot sit and watch 4 hours of basketball.

So, what you’re saying is, we should fade the hell out of your picks or be ready to be in the huge % total? =)

    Thanks Varncass, you’re the man!

What about the NCAA Tournament, day #1 on Thursday, is that going to be Incentives. I am an incentives member, I am just curious.

It’s like one of those touch screen games at the bar where you have to touch the differences in the picture.

Sleeve, 2 5’s instead of one onf the front of the jersey, different team name, basket in the background on mine, arms are in different positions…

Tournament stuff will be incentives. I’m working on a FD specific article right now and then will be grinding out the FD/DK incentives shortly after…what a day

  • tomac

Honest question cbass – do you think the casual cbb player is turned off when all games are over and he is ahead, and then all of a sudden when it fades to grey, he loses?

Above all other things, this is the kind of experience I would think the sites should worry about the most, because it gives the appearance of impropriety.

I know what you’re saying tomac, and you are very right about it, but it has happened multiple times with live scoring as well with the score corrections which sucks just as much

I absolutely think it would turn off a casual player. Hell, it annoys me and I’m usually on top of the stat corrections because I follow along a bit more closely than most.
