So clearly once they ban all of these things because they “make the playing field uneven” – they will have the legal precedent to ban High-Frequency trading, IPO pre-purchases for wealthy investors, etc which give hedge funds and such an “unfair” advantage in the stock market too right?

Yeah. Right. This country is F***ing ridiculous sometimes. I am very opposed to scripting on all levels in DFS, but the hypocrisy of how this country functions when it comes to money is out of control.

  • DCoop328

WHY ARE SCRIPTS LEGAL? WHY? WHY? WHY? At this point there is absolutely no gain legalizing something that is not fantasy sports. This is an unfair advantage to those with scripting ability and is not part of fantasy sports.

It just seems like this is such a simple solution and I really do not understand why the sites want to allow scripting on their sites so much. $10,000 extra dollars in rake from extra scripts is not worth shutting the whole industry down. BAN SCRIPTS.

So what happens if everyone is allowed to script… Could I have a group of friends use all our max entries to eat up, say, all the entries in the MLB Home Run, then with the same script we all dump all but 1 of our entries @ 15 mins and 10 seconds before lock, and possibly driving the overlay up to 80% or something?

I believe this is why certain pros were allowed to use these scripts because not only did they need their money to fill up these tournaments, they knew these guys were more than likely not going to dump huge chunks of them at last minute. If you give everyone that ability it could really make a mess of things. I don’t know why people don’t see that?

The site doesn’t want overlay? How often is there overlay on DK and FD? They allow scripting to all already, don’t they? So help me understand why if it’s already allowed to all why wouldn’t you have it on your site?

  • shark61350

I dislike scripts with everyone else but the Channing Frye incident wasn’t a smoking gun. He was announced to be starting on either rotoworld or twitter 40 mins before tipoff.

    Didn’t you read my post?

They allow scripting for all for entering but not editing or canceling. If they gave everyone that ability, which is what people want, it could make a mess of the games. You would have teams of people hoarding all the entries and then dumping them last minute in hopes that not only do that not fill, which I’m sure they wouldn’t, but there would be MASSIVE overlay. GPP’s only filled 20% of the way would kill the sites pretty quick. They know the pros won’t do this, or at least I’m sure they’re monitored on this more.

This is what you guys really want?

  • walkoff9

RG has a script to import lineups in bulk, which to me levels the playing field. The pros have the time to do research and enter lineups. For the average joe trying to enter multiple lineups a script can really save valuable time for doing more research and lineup building.

So we should just trust out professional overlords to do the right thing? Because they’d never use their scripts to scoop h2hs or gain any other unfair advantages, right? Enough with the same tired old arguments.

Pretty sure most sites have restrictions on when you can cancel entries…

Here’s what scripting does for me: It allows me to enter my lineups quickly after doing a whole day’s worth of research. I hope that doesn’t go away. It allows me to play DFS and not totally shirk my other responsibilities (driving carpool, making dinner, etc.), as spending an hour or two entering lineups without csv upload kills my whole afternoon/evening. I think it’s an important quality of life issue and should be allowed and available to everyone. That’s assuming DFS doesn’t go away, of course. Also, I remember subbing in Frye that day with FD’s quick player replace – I’ve never been in posession of a script that can edit lineups on a site. Just entering them (ever since RG released the csv plugin). That has been such a drastic improvement in my life…

The RG script allows for bulk editing on DK.

I will have to try it, I just assumed it would apply to all the contests the lineups were in. Have never tried it after i was entered in the contests though.

Which if the script everyone apparently wants us all to have gave you the ability to mass cancel entries would really screw things up. Don’t you see that?

We already have LU export abilities now. What more do you want? Mass last minute editing too? Yeah, that won’t crash the site when everyone is doing it at the same time. That won’t keep LU’s from getting edited like they were supposed to and everyone then getting their panties in a bunch when they didn’t. Yeah. That won’t happen.

I got an idea. Get rid of H2H’s altogether. Then you’ll have absolutely nothing to whine about. I hope. You’re over here crying about getting scooped on $1 H2H’s and it’s just hurting those of us trying to make more than a frigging dollar. Grow a pair and go play some GPP’s already.

  • mrchuffy

Way to go DK and FD, you should of banned scripts long ago instead of changing your TOS to allow it. You opened yourselves up to this. Instead of listening to your player base you focussed on profiting as much as you could. Greed is going to kill this industry and the two CEOs have done nothing to stop this. There have been many threads on this forum with smart people explaining the issues only to be ignored. I love DFS and it is sad to see it start to crumble. I feel for all the NV and FL players, I hope DK and FD can get some leadership who will guide them in the right direction.

It is amazing how naive people are. The issue has gone way over your head.

Also, even though it completely unrelated, what is wrong with people complaining even if it is for a dollar, just because it is not for more means they are dumb and shouldn’t complain?

Anyone in here saying make better LUs, stop complaining and play more or don’t play cash, you guys are not getting it.

I am here to complain about the sites letting this happen. The players took advantage of very weak controls. Of course people will want to complain out of envy because of all the money they have made. I don’t care. They do nto affect me directly, I don’t play their H2Hs and you can limit the scooping on DK. What I care about are the website being lenient towards the higher profile players and the fact that they are purely reactionary, only changing things when it blows up.

Stop it with this ridiculous mindset. “grow a pair and play GPPs” wow honestly, do you even think? So because of perceived unfair advantages or matching you say tough luck and go play something else? Amazing. Just amazing.

When scripting became “within the rules” I knew this would end up in a court room some where. I shook my head when the only defendants of scripting were scripters.

Have fun explaining to a 60 year old Judge that “my computer makes hundreds of lineups” is a game of skill.

Changing the TOS will save me hours a day entering LU’s for NBA. If it gets that far. Do you think these prize pools would be the size they are without scripts? Impossible. You’ll have Fantasy Aces size prize pools. Not what I’m looking for personally. An even smaller chance at a smaller prize? No thanks.

The making of the LUs is not the problem….outside the sites you can do whatever you want with the data, that is part of their advantage, they still have to do all the work…….also making a ton of LUs you have to choose a select player player pool, the computers do not do everything…….

A few weeks ago I was of the opinion that DFS was here to stay because of the sheer money generated by the Industry. Now with all of the lawsuits I think the industry is on shaky ground. If it survives it will be heavily regulated.

I’m saying the $5-20/week players ruined it for the rest of us. Without the sharks and their scripts and their 1000’s of entries, we don’t have a game that’s even worth playing.

You should have complained to the FSTA who were really the only ones capable probably of making the changes you were looking for.

The greed of a few people is going to take down the DFS industry. Thanks a lot you greedy bastards. Good luck finding real jobs like the 99% of people who play DFS.

First poker, then DFS (hopefully not). This is what happens in unregulated industries. The edge that these guys have is overwhelming and unfair. How can someone have such a huge edge? Even in Vegas the casinos only have the slightest of edges. WTF.
