The sites and top players were/are SOOOO GREEDY, just get rid of the damn scripting

The little guy has been saying this about greed from the top players for years but people were told to go to the Toledo Kegger and hit with childish gifs and tin foil jokes.

No one is posting gifs, toledo kegger and tin foils hats now huh.

Yes, so turn in your tinfoil hat for a pen and write your congressmen.

In light of a very tumultuous time in DFS it would seem that the scripting issue needs to be axed by the major sites. A lot of us could see the potential dangers in it when it was “allowed” a few months back. A lot more harm in it then good. So what if the site is bringing in more entries……that’s part of the problem also. Not everything in DFS has to be about chasing the million dollar payout. Most people making consistent money in this industry spend little to no time going after those massive top heavy prizes. Scripting just allows serious ammo for the anti-DFS population and new players that lose when chasing the huge dollars.

  • crazypaul

I agree 100%. There does not need to be a million dollar prize every week. Those tournaments are so top heavy they arent even worth playing and Draftkings cant even fill the thing. Scale back to 500K for a top prize, even 250K would change a person’s life in 1 weekend. Leave the million dollar prizes for championships. This would eliminate the need to enter hundreds of lineups and the need for scripting. Stop letting greed ruin the industry.

  • madmanjayWV

UR right CP — there should be a $2 MILLION dollar top prize every week— Hopefully, one day soon we’ll get there.

Just b/c u have to be in the top 99.9964% in a GPP to win good money doesn’t mean it’s top heavy (iroll)….

They both changed the TOS when Scriptgate took place to not hurt the bottom line of either — Honestly, tho, I would appreciate and agree with a flatter payout structure as opposed to being so top heavy..when u play a $5 GPP and beat 98.9% of all entries it seems like one should win more than $40, but that’s life…

    Want big $$$ — build better lineups….

Madmanjay you are missing the point my friend……there are states out there wondering if they will even be ABLE to play DFS in the near future and you want the already top-heavy prizes to go UP???

  • ElSlappo

I think there may be a slight bit of sarcasm in his post.

FanDuel scaled back their million tournament for Week 7 of NFL – $500K top prize now.

I have essentially locked up winnings on 95% of what I played on Thursday/Sunday for one of my best weeks out of the 75 or so I been around….. but I can’t even enjoy it. I’m in fear DFS will be blocked in Florida any moment. It seems if the MNF game doesn’t finish before it’s banned then they’ll only refund my money. That’s bullshit.

Just call your state’s Attorney General’s office and ask some questions. I’m sure they will let you know if they are planning on doing something or contact your reps and ask them if anything is being done or talked about being introduced to cut your DFS play.

These people are elected officials and I’m sure they would let anyone know if they took the time to ask. I know what ur saying….DFS ppl IN STATES are wondering if they will be able to play DFS in the future.

Yeah, bigger the better OVERALL …GPP or bust — that’s how I roll.

P.S. — WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW…I just saw the comment about FD $25 GPP dropping to $500,000 to win….Guess FD is the pure #2 in DFS now…This has me completely in shock this morning and it’s about nap time.

GOOD NEWS IS — instead of needing to finish in the pretty much exact top 1.00% to turn your $25 entry into $100 — with the new payout method/structure — one only has to finish in the top 1.469% to grab that C-NOTE victory next week.

DK is still offering $1 MIL to first —- I can’t wait to see how the size of CFB SAT GPPs are going to change on FD this week. Why they won’t offer a $1 CFB EARLY M-E GPP (aka MLB sac fly-esque) is beyond me.

But, with the fact they can’t fill their biggest NFL GPP and had to cut it back, maybe that will change. I will not hold my breath tho.

NOTE —— DK is still paying $1 MIL to win but at 343,500 entries. I would love to see an analysis and the actual stats of entries on DK-FD (now that the size of GPPs have dropped) that were “on an average basis lost due to sites DFS ban on employees playing” —-

I don’t think just NEVADA’s new get a gambling license rule in and of itself was the root cause, but perhaps they are reacting to the potential Florida BAN HAMMER….interesting times….

YEAH, if you live in FLA I’d be going nuts and be on edge.

Even if something goes down today, surely they will let this weekend’s last game play out and that will be the death of DFS in FLA until something majorly gets overhauled in the industry, I dunno.

    It’s sad.

Yeah it would make a lot more sense to go ahead and pay you out blatantly disregarding a new law.

  • BobGrinder

FD just ran a “someone will win one million dollars” ad on ESPN2 here in NJ…and there is another. Would not be a smart move for them to cut the prize while still running these ads, especially not now with the increased scruitny.

Multi entry is not fantasy sports………this is not the lottery…………

so…i agree with the lawsuit in Florida….

A new user will be frustrated with mulit entry…i have stopped doing multi entry and won a single entry tournament (1150 entries_) …go figure….

  • Brian_msbc

We are encouraged to find patterns that increase our odds of winning, its the nature of sports and the nature of games. Thats not an unfair advantage. If you can write a script instead of doing it manually, whats the unfair advantage? Anybody can do it, all you have to do is go to the local bookstore and buy a how-to book.

I dont do it because i havent found the time but i always intended to at some point.

I still maintain that the word “script” has been and remains very ambiguous — lineup entering vs. lineup editing, vs. scooping, vs. lineup optimization vs. data scraping vs. who knows what else. Whenever anyone says the word ‘scripting’ anymore, I feel like I (and probably they) have no idea what they even mean. Seems like a buzzword now without being clearly defined or understood.

Completely agree. Actual “scripting” is nearly impossible to detect and even more difficult to prevent. It’s one thing to say sites should have banned them to begin with, but an entirely different beast to actually enforce this. There is almost nothing you can do to prevent someone from “scripting”.

This just ruined my day. The only bright spot out of it says they want to take the time to look deeper into DFS before making a decision. Hoping that buys us what, maybe at best another week, but overall I think FL is doomed… The way our statutes are written is bs and need to be reworded. I can drive an hour down the road in FL and bet on greyhounds at a dog track, play no-limit holdem, or that crap u see on a small monitor where a couple people are in a box with crooked sticks and a ball, (tell me that sh!t isn’t fixed), but can’t play DFS, smh…

If they were serious about stopping scripting they could take a number of measures that would discourage most from doing it, as well as making it much less effective for others that will try to do it anyways.

For example, they should be able to measure how many clicks each user is making and the average time between them, if it is more than a human can make it is obviously a bot and can be banned outright. If it is a bot working on delay, they can see there are a lot of clicks being made and can start throwing up random captcha’s. If someone manages to update 1,000+ lineups in a few minutes before lock using anything other than the quick player replace function they are obviously scripting. If the captcha continuously causes a long delay it is most likely a bot that was running unattended and could justify further investigation.

That’s just a basic example. If the sites were serious about stopping scripting there are more advanced measures they could put into place as well. By scripting I mean anything that is not built into the site that every player has access to use.
