    Is it possible to pick a player in, oh say, a large field 50/50, that is too chalky? You always hear that draft rates aren’t a really big deal in cash games, but could that notion be a bit incorrect?

    If you think he is going to underform, yes definitely. But that requires you to make that decision against the “chalk”.

    Chalk isn’t always a 4 letter word. Sometimes the chalk is the best play.

    The more ‘chalky’ the player is the safer you are playing him in cash. If he goes off and you faded, you’re at a disadvantage and if you pick him and he bombs you’re not hurt as bad because so many others had him too.
