I bet this exact same situation has happened a bunch, except those times the guy was leading after round 1 so nobody cared.

Have to give people room to make their own decisions in their own personal play. especially when its a top guy everyone knows is going to be super popular.

Just do your own research. No offense to anyone who subscribes, but do you really want the answers to the test? That’s not realistic at all. Use the tools, then make your own decisions. I was high on bitch-man Vegas, but it was a good fit. Not blaming anyone, but myself. Good luck, for the rest of the weekend. Going to be a wild ride 😜

yeah why pay RG to have stlcards to tell you to play martin laird

Just play him every week till he hits like i do.

If I cut the grouping to only the top 50 players they were up about 100k, but this was largely due to youdacao spiking a few tournies for a combined 350k profit.

youdacao also spends tons playing smaller venues and low fees ($1), like fantasydraft, where the competition is not so keen, but if you can rake the top 10 positions, it makes a fair payday.

DJ was 5 to 1 to win. He’s got an enormous track record here. I wasn’t hiding any secret knowledge of DJ.

I was sitting around finalizing my GPP lineups with about an hour to go until lock, and I finally decide… well DJ is going to be 40% owned and Rory is going to be 10% owned. So, in a matter of five minutes, I go from 40% DJ and no Rory to 40% Rory and no DJ.

Heck, I would have kept it if I knew it was going to set off a firestorm.

I am 100% on ollie, leishman, and howell. I am very concerned about Ollie because he is just playing poorly all around. Same with Howell. At least leishman only had a show stopping poor day of putting.

Tough treading when you recommend plays though. I do expect at least some ownership. It gets super-shady when you completely fade your recommendos. I would feel bad telling BIF that I’m playing a dude in our H2H, then not play him Just stand by your research is all. If you change your mind, letting people know is fair. Especially if they pay #somuchshade

I wrote up 11 plays in my article.

    Here are 8 of them:
    Casey (I played 34%)
    Fleetwood (I played 36%)
    Grace (I played 36%)
    Steele (I played 35%)
    Pieters (I played 33%)
    Howell (I played 33%)
    Moore (I played 22%)
    Laird (I played 22%)

I ended up fading DJ because of ownership. The only others that I did not play were Kuchar and Watson, and Watson was also a late switch because of his comments in the media on Wednesday night.

Not trying to start a firestorm dude. I understand if there was a mistake in the Expert Survey and will know going forward about the Fantasy Foursome. Frankly, I make my own picks anyways, I just like reading your and the staff’s articles.

That said, I think you can understand why this is frowned upon by paid subscribers.

Totally get it, man. Not hating and I love your content. It’s a fuzzy line when people pay people for advice from people who are actually playing against them. It will always be a conflict of ineterest, man.

Man, man, man… That’s annoying too so I’m putting myself out there. Nobody is perfect, but they pay for transparency. Not your fault If RG dropped the ball. Good luck this weekend 👍🏻

Checking in from Las Vegas, sorry DJ is burning some of you guys.

I almost didn’t bet any golfers this week, but I decided to go lay $5 on my boy Tony Finau at 60 to 1. Glad I did that. Let’s go! I almost took Cantlay too, but I didn’t.

Maybe this will be the week Tony can close a big one.

The mishap with the survey and my lack of statement about why DJ could be an ownership-based fade are legitimate gripes.

However, premium subscribers (and people who watch live for free) know that we had that potential “DJ fade” conversation on the “Drive for Show, DFS for Dough” show that we do every Tuesday night, so at least the discussion was had in there.

Here’s the solution: Providing updates when my player pool changes will be of increased importance going forward. Plain and simple.

really need to compare those stats against the field though. If he bogeyed hole 5 instead of a triple bogey he is sitting right at the average score.

You don’t pay up for the top salary to shoot average score and only 3 birds

    Compared to the field:
Field should have been 50-55% Fairways vs DJ 21%
    55-60% GIR vs DJ 33%
Putting he was prob average at a small negative value

Justin has been at this for many years and consistently succeeded at the elite level the entire time.
His character and reputation has never been seriously questioned before. He speaks his pick and plays his picks week in and week out. Never an issue and many people have profited by him. There is no possibility that he picks this one week to do the opposite of what he suggested. ZERO. Do you seriously think that he tried to trick players? Preposterous, completely and utterly preposterous! The man deserves the respect he has clearly earned. Stripping at him as well as the RG site that everyone has come to depend on and are also proud to be a part of the reason that it is unquestionably considered the best site for DFS recreation. Well they both deserves better.

Edit: I understand the optics but that has been cleared. I simply feel bad for Justin.

I think this is dumb. You produce your content, and at the time the content is produced you have an obligation to the subscribers that it is your perceived best picks. Any decisions you make post article don’t need to be published. At the time you produced the article, you produced it in good faith.

Providing updates would just lead to can of worms in obligations. For instance, news comes out 15 minutes to lock that one of your picks isn’t playing. Do you spend time and globally swap that player? or do you spend time to update your latest picks article and make a lower EV decision?

He’s already given me more entertainment for my $5 than expected this week. Everyone acted like this would be DJ and Rory’s week and everyone else would be competing for leaderboard position in the top 5.

    Couldn’t pass up 60-1

We are not your children. We are adults who also deserve respect and Justin recognizes this and addressed the issue in the best professional way possible. Apparently, you are not professional and would do better by letting ppl speak for themselves. No thanks for your diatribe.

  • lfn1992

It would be one thing if Justin were pushing for someone like Beldijan to win the whole thing and didn’t go all in. There was ample extraneous evidence that Vegas, other sites, hell even this thread that he was going to be uber chalk

  • cstuewe13

Alright didn’t expect this to get out of hand. I brought up something that was concerning (the combinations of Justin posting DJ as his favorite GPP play, on Fantasy Foursome, and Must-Play Tourney Stud on Expert Survey) and then fading him. It was bad optics and came off as trying to drive ownership up for an edge.

However, he admitted there was a mistake on the Expert Survey and clarified the Fantasy Foursome. He handled it professionally and publicly and I’m sure will be more careful with the quality control going forward. I don’t expect touts to always give there strategies out or be perfectly transparent, but there is some degree of trust that premium subscribers deserve.

Again, apologies that this caused a huge thing, I’m just glad its all cleared up.

Shit, we might hit 100 pages tonight.

  • noddy

Justin knew DJ would be highly owned all week yet he goes from 40% to 0% one hour before lock? That seems weird to me
