Trying to remember from last season… Is Niemann really only playable on a bermuda putting surface? His decent stretch last summer seem to all come on bermuda though I guess TPS River Highlands is bermuda/poa. Am I remembering this wrong or incorrect about Riviera? Thanks…

I think you have it flipped. He’s struggled on Bermuda, has been lights out on Bentgrass in his short career and POA has been kinda a mixed bag as it is for a lot of guys. I think now that he’s had a few more tourneys on the other surfaces he’s rounding out a bit but I’d still be more confident playing him on bentgrass than anything else

Really like Homa this week. Anyone else?

I have Max Homa in 8 of 11 lineups. (I was going to restrict myself to 10, but apparently after many adult beverages I noticed the Pat Mayo was about to fill and made a brand new one late last night.)

Anywho, I suspect this might be too much Max. Might switch him out of a couple. FWIW, the bookies don’t seem to love his chances as much as we do. Good luck!

Was listening to Gravy (Colt Knost) and the Sleaze just now on Sirius’ the PGA channel and a few things:

Chez Reavie is putting a new putter in his bag per his golf coach Mark Blackburn during their interview on the range this morning. Didn’t realize he switched clubs from Taylor Made to PXG this season that his coach says they have finally gotten dialed in.

Keegan Bradley is loving the course this week as he plays better here when it’s dry and fast.

They were talking about how they’re playing Bel Air later this afternoon with 12 people and Max Homa is playing while Phil Mickelson is a possibility.

edit: My assumption is Reavies started playing with the clubs in January as there was an article in Golf Monthly that I found discussing it on 1/5/20 since it stated he recently signed with PXG.

I think it’s the 5th week in a row for Phil also

I wasn’t on Kokrak until I looked at the tee times. He gets Hole 1 at 6:45a local time, right when his blood to biscuits n’ gravy ratio should be optimal for an Eagle start. I’m in.

This is great to hear (along with being very funny). I soon as I saw that Rose was playing with J.B., I split my single bullet into two lineups and switched Rose/Na for Kokrak/Xander in half my entries.

I’m totally missing why a Rose/JB pairing is somehow toxic? I see no reason to not go heavy on both guys

  • BrianVT

MKF just sent an email saying if a player is cut from full tournament, that contest is cancelled. So much for picking the under hoping someone gets cut.

    DJ/JB is the play

Phil has a fill-in caddy this week, for anyone who wants to throw that into their decision-making.

More like a phil-in caddy, imo. Sorry.

I really never play anyone with J.B. due to his pace. It has gotten better though (which is why I’m only fading half of my Rose shares).

I think J.B. frustrates a lot guys with his pace of play

Well…I now see why they haven’t rolled out any full tourney bets thus far this week. That blows though. Now you want someone to play badly, but not badly enough to miss the cut???

Yea, that’s a strange position to be in. Pick the over on someone (total strokes) you don’t like but then hope they make the cut. I think it’s fair to say now that picking the under on those for the guys you like is about the only way to go.

  • lfn1992

I can see that JB’s pace of play might frustrate some, same with Bryson, but in 4 day I wouldn’t let that stop me. On a Showdown it might, or if a guy with known lack of patience (e.g. Rahmbo) it might, but Rose doesn’t strike me as a guy that would let it affect his game in the moment.

  • sneaksox

Edit: Double post re: full tourney MKF bets.

Really can’t find anything in there I like right now except the under 15.5 par lines, but they’re all paired with either Rory o/u 68.5 and Rahm o/u 4.5 birds which are both tough.

  • lfn1992

    Winner: Justin Rose
Fade: Rory Mac, I don’t think he’s Top 5 and he’d need to be to justify drafting him

Winner: DJ (over Bubba in playoff)
    Fades: Tiger/Brooks
    Sleepers: Poston/Gooch

Is rather play Homa than grace or CH3. I don’t care what the odds say

Their 5/5 rapid fires involve 10 golfers (5 different matchups). If one of those 10 golfers miss the cut…then all of those bets are null and void.

Ridiculous and not thought out at all.

Ya it was kinda a crazy choice for them to go that way, but honestly I don’t think they really loved their full tourney options anyway, so I’ll likely just stick with the round by round stuff unless they change that rule back

    Triangle or McCarthy?

I’m guessing this is stemming from the less total strokes bets. Just don’t do those. Stick with more par or better or more birdie or better or the fantasy point contests.

Same, not worth it for the full tourney.

Anyone have a good feel for the birdie rate here? I looked at the leaders last year and guys were averaging 4-6ish per round but weren’t the conditions softer? I’m thinking 5 birds may be hard to come by for the afternoon tee times (Hole 1 being the exception, you can pretty much count that as a sure bird or better)

Polar opposites. I’d go with IscocelesTringale here since SG:OTT and SG:APP would seem to matter more than SG:PUTT, but who the hell knows.
