Was thinking about things DFS sites could do to expand their userbase without direct ads. What if FD sold something like a gift card where you would buy it will your FD funds, it would come to your house, just as a check would and you could gift it to a friend, while it still works as a referral for the person who bought it. Say player A buys a card for his friend, Player B, who doesn’t play DFS. Player A pays $20 and gets the card delivered to his house. He gives the card to player B, who has now begun their DFS bankroll with $20. Just as the case with a regular referral, its like an investment for Player A, as they make a portion of what player B makes throughout their career, out of FD’s pocket. The gift card kind of works like FDP. Thoughts? Btw, if this idea gets anywhere, I fully expect a $100 gift card from FD.

I like this idea. I also want a $100 gift card..

There should be some kind of charity option where you donate the extra cents in your balance that you don’t need. I know that had been talked about before but it would be a great feature. I would also be down for a credit card that rewards you with FDP when you use it.

Donate to charity? Thats an awesome idea. Anybody who can play DFS, and not rely on it to feed their families should have the funds to donate to others who need it.

FanDuel likes to round up my balance to $1 so I can enter a crap shoot tournament every now and then. I’d rather just donate the 60 cents that I have sitting there to some sponsored charity. I’m sure theres a ton of accounts out there with like $100.37 that can’t use the 37 cents for anything though.

It would have to be a gift code, like a promo code that linked to the person who purchased the gift card. Therefore, you’d buy it through your FanDuel account with your balance and it would produce that gift card with a unique code for your referral.

This would only work for first time depositors as you cannot get a retroactive referral for an already existing account.

I was just thinking of this the other day. It would make it easier to recruit new referrals and people who want to try it out but aren’t sure.

this is the dumbest thing i have ever heard of. gift cards and charity on a dfs site? there is a site that does that now no one has heard of for that very reason. people complain about drip bonus but want to give their loose change away or buy gift cards.

    calm down, simply an idea

I love the idea of gift cards as a method of deposit. You can already use visa gift cards, of course, but DFS-site-specific cards — almost like ITunes Cards — would be great.

Starstreet.com did this until they got acquired by DK.

Hey @jshiffy Just now reading this thread and this idea sounds really cool. Mind PMing me and we could have a chat about it?

At FantasyHub, our whole deal is DFS for charity so I think this really fits with us and like mentioned in the thread this could be a great way to allow loyal players to invite their friends to play!

    Lemme know man. Thanks!

i couldnt get enough volume for the hub to my main site but even if for no other reason than karma fantasyhub should be part of ur list. i wish the big sites would add a button to donate. when i win id hit that button everytime. i genuinely hope fantasyhub grows because the model is solid.

Thanks @hendry!! That would be a great feature to add to our site actually!

Ill put that in the list and see if we can get a little button like that this season where you could donate at any time. Love it
