Looks like DK’s success with PGA has raised some eyebrows at FanDuel. Just received a link to a survey about possible game ideas for a Golf product. Couple interesting twists in there…leaning towards just the standard pick 6 and let the results play out. What are others thinking?

This would get me to join Fanduel as well. This has been the only factor holding me back from using both really.

  • MrFantasy

Please let this be true. I would love it if Fanduel had golf.

  • tprokopenko

This would be awesome. Golf is the only sport I play on DK, so hopefully FD would bring some decent payout structures to golf so I could get off DK for good.

  • flip4flop

If FD offered the same scoring system as Fantasy Aces I would love it and play there as well.

pretty much this. only play golf on DK because FD doesn’t offer it. NFL and NHL I only play on FD.

Why do you not like DK? Legit question because I use both for NFL and I think I am starting to like DK more and more (I like the satellites, I usually play those instead of GPPs).

you should highly reconsider that choice until they drop plus / minus, pretty much the least skillfull stat to predict in all of sports.

The PGA game on DK is the single worst fantasy game in the market right now from a skill perspective. I really hope FanDuel does something different, closer to what Victiv is doing with subs or at least taking away the ridiculous bonus point scoring.

    Things I dislike about DK:

    - Bonus point scoring – Top heavy GPP payouts – Late swap

Also FYI, satellites are by definition -EV compared to a standard GPP since you get raked both on the satellite and the GPP you eventually enter if you win.

A fanduel Rep was on here a few weeks ago saying ‘wait until next April” You can expect them to roll out PGA for the 2016 Masters

I don’t disagree with some of your points, but keep in mind that DK not having a sub feature provides an edge for some people.

The post you are describing was in response to some false info. The FD rep was making an April Fools Joke. That doesn’t mean they won’t have golf next April but he wasn’t hinting that they already decided that they will.

    no it does not

if a site came out with a football format where it was just 1 qb, 1 wr, and 1 rb, that game would objectively have a lower skill ceiling than the prevailing formats

it doesn’t mean that people can’t win under that format, but less picks and less flexibility with picks means a smaller margin of maneuverability for a skilled player, hence less picks for their skill to gain an advantage, and hence a lower skill ceiling

The ability to consistently have a higher % of your lineups with 6/6 golfers through relative to your competition is the edge that I was referring to.

Your response has nothing to do with the notion I was presenting.

  • huitcinq

Well of course there is still an edge.

I’m saying that edge would be bigger if you only needed 5/6 because it creates more possibilities for lineup construction allowing the more skilled player to reach a higher optimization percentile on his lineups. The edge would be even bigger without bonus points because final point scores would be more “projectionable”, etc.

My original point still stands that golf on DK is the worst DFS game from a skill perspective, the biggest “lottery” of all the games (though I haven’t played NASCAR). In fact, the game itself is designed that way.

  • FromEuropeWithLove

Makes sense. FanDuel is just leaving money on the table by not having PGA.

  • huitcinq

Anyways I just hope FanDuel does something different.

I completely disagree with you on this. Good even strength teams will have players with a better +/-. It’s awesome when you can stack some studs then some $3k dman on a solid team and he gets you 3 points just for being on the ice for goals.

On the flip side it sucks to get – 3 because you stacked a line and they get scored on late. I’ve slipped down the gpp leaderboard many times because of this. But it’s all about the consistency and the players with better +/- will over time give you a better advantage on FD.

Totally agree. I’ll take plus/minus all day over a stat like blocked shots.

uh, yeah, some very smart people who actually really know the law apparently disagree with you…but maybe they’ll check this thread and reconsider…until then, gotta go set my PGA line-ups.

      RG Overall Ranking

The fact that fanduel does not have golf is simply amazing. DK is running a millionaire maker for every major for god sakes.

Doesnt make a difference to me as i stick to dk anyway, but its hard to believe.
